Brazil and Spain had to define which of both would advance to the quarter-finals of the 1962 FIFA World Cup at Chile along with Czechoslovakia of the group stage's Group 3. Brazil won 2-1 with this goal of Rio de Janeiro Brazilian State's Campeonato Carioca club Botafogo F.R. striker Amarildo Tavares da Silveira in a match marked by a scandalous refereeing. Brazil won this World Cup reaching it's 3rd title in the competition beating Czechoslovakia in the final.
