- Unfortunately, Day 2 of IWJG did not have the same fireworks as Day 1! Maybe everyone got the best deals out of their system on the first day, maybe dealers just wanted to get back to the office. I'm not sure, but things were a bit slow! Nevertheless, despite only having sold a few watches, we were drained!

Once the flight from Vegas to Miami landed around 8am in the morning on Tuesday, the CRM team was exhausted. Nevertheless, we are all pumped to have a stellar sales week post-show and bring you an even better day-in-the-life, gray market adventure next time!

This is good content. I just hope other dealers/buyers would be more respectful to other dealers/sellers by handling the pieces more carefully. Once you paid for them, beat the hell out of it all you want.

Right! The guy is dropping a 40k watch on the glass then smashing it into his watch when trying it on, instead of taking his off like any normal person would do. I would hate to see his inventory if that's how he treats other people's. His watches are probably in rough shape.
Shortest guy is the scariest guy in the room. Carlos is a real boss lol. I could watch this all day.

I think everyone working with Chinese suppliers already knows that there are bribes changing hands to keep the wheels greased. If they're not paying them directly, they know that their costs are padded to provide the funds for the supplier to make the bribes.

Carlos I know you just got the Patek Celestial at the show but please for the love of God don't send any of the parts to China! I'm not trying to disrespect the guy who does the customization work but it's just not worth the issues with potential damage/loss or customs issues.
I was thinking the same. Too much risk, too many hands handling it. I think the guys should invest in some laser scanning gear and do the measurements themselves and send them on to the factory.

These other dealers need to tighten up. They didn’t even acknowledge when they were banging up the $100k watches.
Tell me about it! It was tense and frustrating going through that.
Loved the two part series. Only critique is you seem to show too much of certain clips like the guys talking about custom bezels from Hong Kong. It's several minutes long if not longer and it's just too long. We knew what they were offering in the first couple of minutes. No need to keep it rolling to listen to them go back and forth with no outcome. It slows the episode down. Just my two cents.
I actually thought this was one of the most illuminating bits, learning more about this fairly hush-hush aspect of the business. We hear about bustdowns and aftermarket all the time, but not so much about the mechanics of how they're made. This is the first time any TH-cam video has gone into detail, about their source in China, what they do with gold cases and bracelets, bribery needed to get them out to Hong Kong for shipping, etc. There was a recent Grey Market episode where Roman Sharf was offering a "package" that was going through Hong Kong to Time Piece Traders, and now I think it may well be that they're sourced from the same factory as these guys.
The China part I think was interesting and eye opening, even though no deal was actually made. I do understand that people who are just into watches might not appreciate those parts. The thing is that we're a jeweler, not just a watch dealer, so we do want to mix in footage that is non-watch related as well. But don't worry, we'll perfect these episodes as we move forward.
@@Crmjewelers I feel like aftermarket customization of watches is 100% watch-relevant! It's good to see how the sausage is made. (Also, I know it's very out-there, but that full rainbow Cartier Santos the guy had was quite beautiful and the work looked pretty good from what I could see.) Speaking of perfecting, Adrian did a great job dialing in the sound editing for this episode.

@@Crmjewelers I'm not saying to cut it out completely, I was interested in that segment as well. I'm saying it was long in the tooth and there were parts where information was repeated and it just felt too long. I think the first few minutes kind of explained who they were and what they did. Again, I'm thankful for these videos and really enjoy them, this is just some feedback. The audio was the best out of all watch shows on TH-cam. It seems like no one other than CRM can get that figured out for whatever reason.

Yes, this particular one is, but there are other ones that we're planning to attend that are open to the public as well.
Great episodes. Enjoy watching how all the deals get made. I imagine it must be frustrating when dealers come to you all to try nickel and Dime you. I know they're just trying to get as much commission as they can, but to me they are way too greedy. Even in one of the early episodes Carlos talked about how he would only make $500 profit a watch. How do you get to own a Miss CRM, and have enough inventory to have a booth at these kind of events? By taking smaller margins, building relationship's, and understanding that it's gonna take years before you can build a big brand. Keep up the hustle!
Even so, you don't build what they have with margins that small. All sellers will exaggerate how "little" they're making on an item. The margins are not nearly as good as the jewelry side, though.
So 20.5 wasn’t a problem also imo.

During these tradeshows I never see dealers checking watch movements before buying. Do you trust each other so much?
I mean, we all check stuff with loupes, all the dealers need to register to be in there, and there are cameras everywhere, so if they try to pull a fast one, it might be the end of their careers 🤷
