Thank you for the nice video. I have a leaky gasket on my 1991 928 S4. The dealer wants 1800$ to do the job. Looks pretty straight forward. Does the torque converter refill itself during the transmission refill? Also, when you shifted into gear momentarily did you leave the engine in idle? Lastly, did you leave the engine running the entire time during refilling? Thanks again.
I believe the 91 is the same transmission as mine, with some upgrades. It’s the S Class Mercedes trans ant it is very good! As you can see from the video, it’s a very simple maintenance procedure. Remember to drain the torque converter. The plug is hard to see. Fill it non-running, then top it off while running. The torque converter will fill. Before I changed the fluids and filter on the transmission, it did seem bit of a lag to engage, but it. Was fine after. Unless your car was beat on, I am sure the transmission just needs serviced. I tried to buy one of these from someone in the early 2000s. KBB said about 4 to 5 grand at that time. She said her insurance said it was worth 30k. I don't know where they got that but I couldn't talk her down.

Fabien, you can either rotate the engine around blindly, which I did until I found it. Afterwards, I found out from someone else that if the motor is out in TDC that the drain plug will be at the bottom so you can remove the drain.

Another great video, if you put the engine at TDC the TC drain plug will be in the right place.
