    Brilliant from Elton Jantjies who takes a quick penalty and puts in a pinpoint cross-kick for Jamba Ulengo to score 🤟🏽🤟🏽🔥🔥🔥

    I've never understood how a ref can blow a penalty against the team who has the put in on a scrum, firstly when the attacking team is 5 meters from the try line and secondly when the ref knows it's the last play of the match. No way a team in that position is going to purposely collapse a scrum, and that's what the penalty was for against the attacking team. Doesn't make sense.

    • @jksinorbit
      @jksinorbit 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well thats why you aren’t a ref because the attacking teams prop can slip his bind, cave under pressure, turn inwards under pressure, pop up under pressure, lose his footing and collapse.

    • @joematthew8350
      @joematthew8350 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jksinorbit Yes Jason, I'm not a ref, there you are right. So tell me something. Throughout the match the scrums were evenly contested, players give their all to win a match. Right to the last minute. So your theory as far as that particular scrum was concerned was that the Lions loose head prop slipped his bind, or caved under pressure, or turned inwards under pressure, or lost his footing, cannot have popped up. If you watch it was the far side of the scrum, which was opposite of both TV footage, and the opposite side to the ref, this is where one of these occurred. When you watch the collapse in slow motion and HD, which you can do on TH-cam, you will notice that it's the tight head and hooker of the Sharks that hits the ground first, you can even see that the Sharks back off just after the "SET" call from the ref, watching in slow motion shows the Sharks actually hinge. It's the loose head of the Lions, which is far easier scrummaging than tight head. But you mean to say that the loose head has one of these errors while the Sharks tight head is not to blame, watching also you notice the Sharks hookers knee is about to touch the ground, it's the Sharks tight head and hooker that hit the ground first. So it's clearly the Sharks tight head that loses his bind first, or collapses under pressure. As a matter of fact if you watch carefully it looks as if the Sharks tight heads left arm hits the ground first, in other words he lost his internal bind before anything else?!? Refs can make mistakes, but in this case the ref had to take the line mans call for the penalty decision, far side of where he was. And even if you consider that mistakes can be made, then it comes back to my original comment, why would a loose head prop lose his ability to scrum correctly at that point of the game, when he's been scrumming fine throughout. Sorry, but studying the footage makes it even clearer that the decision was not a good one.

      @@joematthew8350 your first post was a general question on how it's possible, so I gave you a general answer. As for the scrum in question I didn't get to see enough of it as I only saw the highlights.

      As a result blocking access to the ball illegally for the opposite team

    • @truthbetold8233
      @truthbetold8233 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Short answer; yes.
      Long answer; The idea of the ruck is actually that you come together, on your feet, over the tackled player. Players from both sides, on their feet, essentially engage in something akin to a momentary mini scrum, and you are supposed to bind with your arms and then you do have the momentary opportunity to push the attacking side off the ball, in what is called a 'counter ruck'.
      Because the tackled player and tackler, and possibly assisting tackler may still be on the ground, diving straight onto those bodies is dangerous play.
      It's also just moronic to dive in like that because you typically fail to clean out the opposition players that are actually over the ball, and you end up on the ground, potentially injuring your own team mate.
      You could argue that he slipped but I don't see it, and he was just flying in there, with no concern for actually securing the ball.

      @ttoleafoa70 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Golden Age Lifestyle Janjties is a class 10 that sadly hasn’t reached his potential at test level. But I think the most creative 10 you are looking for is either Finn Russell or Richie Mounga. Finn Russell mostly because he’s so unpredictable. He creates like Janjties something out of nothing although both their game management isn’t the best.

    • @Br0kensaint1

      Jantjies is very much our own Carlos Spencer. When you get to the top level is not as much about the skills as everyone is pretty much even but it's more a mental thing and that is Elton's biggest weakness. He cannot execute in pressure situations or pressure games. There is a reason why the lions could never bag a final. Pollard is still by far our first 10 in south Africa and with kade wolhuter and Damian willemse on the scene the potential is there for our future but they are still very very raw
