This was encouraging to watch. I know that all of the points you covered in this video are points that educated members of the UPCI can and do refute in one way or another. However, I thought you demonstrated clearly how spiritual harm (intentional or unintentional) can so easily slip in within these environments so that even if you concede the positions of the UPCI, there is still a strong case to be made from the boots-on-the-ground perspective that rarely is conduct around spiritual gifts ever performed “decently and in order.” In fact, what has led me out of the organization is realizing that my own actions (i.e. uncontrolled weeping and ecstatic uttering) have been incredibly indecent and not very orderly. Thanks be to God for his grace that calls us out of darkness into his marvelous light.
GOD bless you and your ministry! :) I appreciate your work for the LORD and the fact that you have been SEEKING the WRITTEN TRUTH! ... I agree with your presentation and the way you explained it!...
Yes I agree, the extra add on of "with the evidence of speaking in other tongues" is a thing I only noticed upon leaving the organization. Blew my mind that it was misquoted.
And they say it with all confidence. If nothing else, they should acknowledge that it's not in scripture when they quote it, at minimum. But it's misleading to have taught us Acts 2:38 that way for all these years.
It's great to see the face behind the channel 🙂I have watched some of your videos about the UPCI and it is certainly a church cult. I am glad that you were able to leave the cult and that you making others aware by sharing your knowledge and experiences. Looking forward to more of your content. This was awesome.
Thank you! I am so glad to be out from under that environment. It absolutely is a cult and I hope that I can hopefully reach those still affected through these videos. Perhaps even others that may be in similar situations in other cult/cultish churches.
The youth camp experience hits home. I was just thinking about the people that “couldn’t stop speaking in tongues.” That along with the “testimony” when you came back. Usually, there were public promises to throw away movies or music.
Yes, that was common at my church too. I remember we'd have youth leaders bring their gaming consoles to the church as a big demonstration that they'd be giving them up to be more devoted. And it would temporarily motivate some of the youth to join in swearing off video games, only to get back on them a few weeks later. Then we'd forget and, when I got older, our college and career director made playing COD a routine C&C event. I'm not a prude about games, but it just seemed contradictory and inconsistent.
I'll never forget the day you ran into me coming into a room for a college test as you were leaving that room... that test was biblical literature... I am so glad I studied under professor Adair....one can say and prove anything within the binding but when it is looked at historically as literature...there is def many other ideas captured in the papers....what's crazy is the representations of the bible and offshoots and or other religious texts and how they exist in our head and are displayed in our lives is in many instances why wars have been ignited and continue to be a wheel of undying torment to humanity...
Right! And they don't have a central repository for their collective history and doctrinal shifts (to my knowledge, outside of their publishing house). Their churches don't teach a universal history and they barely have an accredited school. To me it appears they only have DKB's books and a handful of other independent books that are used for ministerial licensing. But that's hardly enough to keep their doctrinal practices uniform. That's why there are so many undocumented divergences that get swept under the rug and forgotten from region to region and from generation to generation. But people keep the receipts for themselves, we know the crazy antics that have transpired over the years and the advent of the Internet has exposed them. Their organization is barely functioning and complicit to horrendous things behind the scenes.
Has anyone had a pastor that disagreed with a tongues interpretation? This I would love to find out and see what the pastor tried to pass it off as. I’ve questioned these very things my whole life and each time that I asked the response was “don’t blaspheme against the Holy Ghost. This goes hand in hand with praying loudly in public or scream preaching to get the church’s attention to get an emotional response. I’m sorry but I just don’t see the early church responding to this type of behavior. Specially when Jesus was so against the Pharisees.
Exactly! If people questioning the gifts is considered by them as "blaspheming the Holy Ghost," isn't it more blasphemous to NOT call out people who get an interpretation "wrong?" They'll let people "work out" their gift and make "mistakes" but not recognize how their insistence that people can even make mistakes in practicing spiritual gifts demonstrates it's false. I'd at least respect them more if they even remotely kept tongues in check when it veered from scripture, or answer why tongues are associated with ecstatic behaviors not found in scripture?
Yes, I think Pentecostals need to unite to ensure they all are teaching the same doctrines and agree to condemn those who misuse their doctrine to abuse others!
@escaping350utopia the problem with"pentecostals" uniting is that Oneness Pentecostals believe other doctrines of faith that are contrary to exegesis interpretation of the Bible. So that is a no go from the get go. Oneness add to the simplicity of the Gospel
@@Unknown.servant I wholeheartedly agree. This is one of those situations where, if they operated like a well-functioning institution, they would end up unmasking their doctrinal error. So, asking them to "unify" on doctrinal practices is sort of a tongue-in-cheek request, because most understand that they cannot even agree between each other within and especially outside of their narrow movement. So, they have to tacitly acknowledge each other exists, but they cannot have true accountability because then they'll have to disagree with how each church behaves differently than others or have different "rules" than others. Oneness teachings are difficult to corral, which is why they are so split amongst themselves even, only unifying in that they agree on oneness, and that's it.
These things were just some of the things I was sharing with y'all before. Only person who really went towards my levels from the entire group was Sean..lol

@@escaping350utopia but saying “we just pulled that out of a hat” that doesn’t make you any better than the faith your critiquing, if you don’t have a biblical explanation to back that statement

Then who's to say that someone couldn't have the Holy Ghost without speaking in tongues then? Perhaps there are many more people that have the Holy Ghost than you'd be willing to acknowledge on the basis that they seek the Holy Ghost and not 'tongues.' In fact, Acts 2:38 tells us plainly that if you simply repent and are baptized, then you will receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. No other instructions are given, it's a simple formula that doesn't mention speaking in tongues anywhere.

Good stuff man
There are approximately 39,000 liscensed ministers in the upci. Consider the variation.

People have to work for the Holy Ghost at the altar for some times an hour..thats not even scriptual
