    Ive talked to people that buy a truck and put a small house package in it, drive it here and sell the truck at a profit. I came up here in 79 with everything my young son and I owned in a Datsun pickup. I did odd jobs around the Mat Su the first summer living in a dry cabin. I then got slope jobs in electronics and telecommunications.

      @@nathanford5436 What type of technical work did you do? Many companies won’t even talk to people for a job here unless you live here. I even have heard of not wanting to hire or train people in these specialized jobs until they are here a year or two. I have seen many people come up and after a year or two leave because of isolation from other family members. Heck I’ve seen divorces from this. Unions usually won’t put people on the books unless they live here. I know the Teamsters are like that. The techs for remote radar sites, AT&T and some phone companies are Teamsters. I retired from that union and working out of town those jobs paid about $120k a year and about $100 k working in Anchorage. I still have pretty good connections with AT&T.

      For the most part Alaska is just like any other state. There are some strict rules
      For claiming residency for the yearly payment. You can’t be gone from the state more than like 90 days I believe. U am not 100% sure on the days. We own land there too and still claim Alaska as our domicile for our car and driver’s license etc. But we are actually in Mexico most the time now so we don’t attempt to collect the yearly fund and I wouldn’t try to hunt as a resident. As long as you don’t do those two things Alaska is super easy to belong too. Now I don’t have a clue how the military to works. You may be exempt from that. Everyone I met that was in the military there lived there. I don’t have a good source to ask. Buying land there is like anywhere else.

If I bought an Expedition and a trailer my stuff would have to go in the trailer so how would I get my Hyundai up there? Also, what happens when you want to move back to the lower 48? You can't buy a truck and trailer there because you'd lose money selling it once you get down here.

      I am a glass half full kind of guy so fairly positive. This is my guess 100%. I feel like we are seeing most of the world open. The USA seems to be the last. Europe has been open to unvaccinated. I read Japan is about to be if not already. I think it will open and stay open. I feel like the facts of just how Ineffective their requirements have been are coming to surface making it harder for them to articulate. But in my opinion this was more about control than ever health/Safety. If enough “good people” keep standing up I believe it will. Honestly Canadians are the best. They really stay United and stood up against this mess. So I am optimistic it will.

    really appreciate this video boss hope all is well with you and your loved ones. Just wanted to ask a quick question about the awesome secret you were awesome to share with us when ever you would have the ford expedition did you sell them in their RWD trim or were all of them the AWD/4WD trims ?? and also would you go purchase the expedition, trailer , side-by-side (or other AWD mobile that would do good out there ) did you make back your investment plus profit ? Was there good money in the first couple of times ? I’m really looking to try to expand on this idea i appreciate it ! also would you head up there and sell those and then fly back to where home was at the time ?

    • @bigskyblessing
      @bigskyblessing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am glad you asked! A Rear wheel drive vehicle of any kind will be hard to give away much sell as they are useless in Alaska most of the year. The AWD vehicles especially Subarus bring premium dollar. My best combination was AWD or 4x4 SUV or truck, Enclosed trailer with extra tall ceilings for side by sides, and a Subaru inside the trailer.
      Not sure what state you live in. I was living in Alaska so their tag office is amazing and you get title same day. You would need them titled and tagged so you can sell it. For Alaska you get title same day makes it work great.
      Profit from one vehicle normally pays for the trip the other two are profit. We never made less than $2000 per unit profit. The trips were costing me around $2000 to $2300. That was airfare down, renting a U-Haul trailer at times to pull a car to my trailer place. I was doing it alone.
      If you’re just wanting to move to Alaska and already have a vehicle then the enclosed trailer will pay for your trip you will pretty well break even selling the trailer. I was getting my trailers in Laurel Montana at the Laurel trading post they were quality trailers.
      Always have two spare tires just pay the extra and get two and sell with the trailer or sell separately

    • @bigskyblessing
      @bigskyblessing  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Ashlea thanks for watching. Anything all wheel drive or 4x4 as your pull vehicle. Then any enclosed trailer and if you get the higher ceilings they bring even more money.
      We were paying cash from our bank account no loans at all so that limited us to how much we could buy. When we’re moving our stuff up that we had left behind in Montana we found a killer deal on a 2009 Ford Expedition 4X4. They pull like 10,000 pounds almost. We bought an enclosed trailer moved all our stuff with that. When we sold the Ford and trailer they sold FAST. We profited very well off both the Expedition and the trailer. We found the Expeditions make great pull vehicles they are super comfortable and they lose their value substantially so paying cash for a nice one was super easy to us. It was much cheaper than buying a truck. So then we had more money left over to invest in the trailer. Then we got to where we added used Subarus inside the trailer. We could sell all 3 and make awesome and quickly.
      Whatever you do regardless what you buy listen to this advice:
      Buy at least two spare tires for the trailer. Have a jack and tire tool handy because ask me how I know lol. The Yukon roads shred your tires unless it’s snow packed. Either way have two spares minimum.
      Do not bring anything to Alaska that is only 2WD.

    How do I move my Cessna up? What are the ferry pilots doing?

    • @bigskyblessing
      @bigskyblessing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s a debatable topic. A lot of people fly up the coast. Top off in Port Ángeles and make it to Ketchikan. But that’s super dangerous if you are in a single engine airplane with limited avionics and no real world instrument experience. Southeast Alaska changes FAST. We are already picking up ice now.
      If you’re in a single engine I strongly recommend following the AlCan hwy for the most part. If you’re moving your plane to your residence you will be fine. The worse they can do is turn you back to the USA and AK is the USA. I have heard of several unvaccinated making it up fine. Feel free to email me if you have more questions.
      If you’re in a Cessna 310 that is IFR capable and you are then the coast is les drama.

      I am now a pilot for SWA. When I lived in Alaska I was flying cargo around Alaska so drove to work and home daily. My wife had a FA job with Ravn so she flew all over Alaska but was home every night. We live in Mexico now and I commute to Las Vegas.
      I know SWA pilots that live in Alaska and commute it but they do use FedEx a lot from Oakland. For FA it would be long and depend on your base. From DEN you got one flight a day on United. Seattle has the most with Delta and Alaska Airlines.

    Sucks we cant cross at the Canadian border. My husband has an old stupid felony theft charge from stealing a CD at walmart when he was 19 yrs old. I read that felons cant get passports and Canada wont let a felon cross the border. Do you know if this is true? We want to move to Alaska so bad. We live in the midwest and would have to drive across country to get us and our car on the ferry. It's so expensive.

    • @bigskyblessing
      @bigskyblessing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jessica unfortunately that is true. If he is a convicted felon or has DUI’s they won’t allow him to enter Canada. I do believe there is a process to get a possible waiver but I hear you have to have an immigration attorney and it’s not easy.
      At one time I thought of starting a service driving people’s vehicles up that are in this type predicament. But I now don’t have the time.
      This video is a little older. Canada is now back open like normal pending you don’t have charges. We had one couple in similar scenario that we helped. He ended up flying up and the wife drove up. Another option is check out Tote. You would drop your vehicles at Tote and ship them up and you two fly up. Some of our viewers just sell everything and start over in Alaska.

    What part of Montana do you like better than Alaska? I am currently in Billings and want to go to anchorage. Thanks for your advice

    • @bigskyblessing
      @bigskyblessing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I moved from Red Lodge. I know Montana has changed since COVID with the additional people moving in. So I am speaking past tense. But I loved how far away we were from most of the US but yet close enough to get anywhere in a matter of a few hours. In Anchorage no matter where you want to go it’s a red eye flight out of Anchorage to Seattle almost 4 hours then connect in Seattle to go wherever normally arriving late at your destination due to the time change. Camping in Alaska in opinion was nothing extra. Unless you have your own plane it’s hard to escape people. If you can drive there so can everyone else. All campgrounds are full! The food cost is extreme. The restaurants aren’t as good and cost a lot more. Montana seemed more isolated but yet super easy to get anywhere quick.
      Alaska is amazing! I love being off the road system. I was a cargo pilot there abs I experienced some of the most amazing things on the planet. So if you have access to an airplane Alaska is a amazing with an amazing culture. If you never leave the road system I personally think Montana is better.

      We loved living up there. Now we live in Mexico. It depends on your position in life. If you still need to work I recommend living in the Matsu valley so you can commute to Anchorage or living up in Fairbanks. Fairbanks is not in the mountains and not as pretty. Alaska is HUGE it really depends on your situation.

      How do you figure it’s not free? It’s no different than any other business deal. A huge majority of the people that move to Alaska either rent a U-Haul or pull a trailer. The U-Haul is several thousand. The trailer is several thousand but can be sold for $2000 to $3000 more than you paid at minimum. It takes money to make money. It’s far from click bait. I moved myself to Alaska and profited and it was pure accidentally. I never went with the Intentions to die that. Then I realized my move was completely paid and I profited some. It’s free if you invest you money properly and sell properly.

Poor people can’t front $20,000 in cash to only profit $4000 to $6000 when the dust settles. We did multiple times. At the end of the day material things and money don’t decide how rich or poor we are. You seem to be the poor person with your mentality in my humble opinion. You lack the important things in life.
