Its cheaper and faster to install with air bags. Without it, they have deflector sensor that can clamp / weld on the rigid axles. Yes, the tandem pin relocation will alter weight distribution and weight accuracy.
@@SNAcalgary Sorry, I should have explained better. We have a Freightliner with air bags but we don’t have the air dump feature so they always stay aired up. Does that make a difference? As for the trailer, I was asking whether pin location matters when calibrating empty/loaded weights. The video never mentions whether it matters.
Yes, a dump bag air switch would need to be added as its a required procedure to achieve accurate reading. Pin location matter on the trailer. The location of the axles modify weight distribution and scale reading..
With a trailer, there is another pressure switch senor on the trailer and another input is hooked to the gauge for this. The model of the gauge needs to be changed to account for the extra sensor. Then, the calibration procedure is the same as the tractor. You need to enter the EMPTY WEIGHTS and the HEAVY WEIGHST in two steps using the number from a truck stop scale.
I have spring suspension on my trailer,I do not want to weld the conversion device to my axles,.... do you have an air bag conversion for Spring suspension ? Because the air weight is really accurate the other not so much
The tractor can still have its scale to keep track of its weight. You can also have rigid axle, deflector sensors added to the trailer to read the weight of the whole rig.
Yes it can be changed in kilos in the DISPLAY settings.
Very helpful thank you 🙏🏻
Why is it necessary to deflate the air ride system first before calibration??
yes. Its necessary to deflate and reinflate and wait to stabilize.
Will this work if my truck does not have air dump? Also, does it matter what the tandem pin position is when calibrating the scale?

Hi I didn’t see the TRL option. How can I do? Thank you for answer!

Can this be used without the trailer. I don’t always haul the same trailer and they rarely have air ride.
Yes, the scale works all right without the trailer hooked up.

You can use the epoxy kit with clamps to read the suspension flex.

@@SNAcalgary The problem with those is there not even close to be Accurate
Can this unit be changed to display kg instead of lb?
Yes, very easy quick change.
What if my trailer doesn't have air suspension? Would it not work at all ?

So, Do you need to keep up with scales, Or does the scale keep that going for you
The scale may be recalibrated every year for better accuracy. This is a manual 2 steps process as described in the video.
so do u have to do this with every load
No, just once empty and once when loaded. Then you can repeat yearly for better accuracy.
@@SNAcalgary ok because I just bought one so now am looking for a mechanic to install it for me so once empty and once loaded
Is the process specific to the model or is it generally the same?
Generally the same.
Thanks a lot Im pretty confident I did it right followed the steps thanks for posting the video it was extremely helpful
Glad it helps! Cheers
