My grandpa carried an 1817 large US cent for over 30 years. Upon his journey to the great beyond I have the coin in my pocket going on 3 years now. RIP grampa miss you
I usually have a Morgan dollar in my pocket...nothing too fancy, just a common date, lightly circulated coin worth perhaps 25 bucks, tops. I like to hold it and know there was a time when money was real and valuable; my grandfather once described the big old large cents as feeling "proud" and I found myself struck by the truth of the word. My silver dollar reminds me that people once appreciated real wealth in a time when life was simpler and less distracted. Maybe someone carried it to buy food at a local market or to tip a coachman. Maybe it purchased a train ticket for someone to visit a friend. It's history, it's art, and it's a piece of honest money.
Save twenty minutes here. Three reasons. 1 - Because you want to carry a silver coin. 2 - Conversation piece. 3 - Motivation to work for fiat currency to trade for silver.
I don’t think if someone wanted to “save 20 minutes”, they would be clicking on a video about what a person keeps in their pocket. If they cared enough to click, they’ll care enough to watch. Just like you 😃
Your comment put a smile on my face, I remember when I first bought my 1oz silver rounds, I was like wow "MY PRECIOUS" lol, Then I bought my first silver eagle and I just geeked out and imagine myself in a vault full them and swimming in it like Scrooge Mc. Duck from Duck Tales; 1990's tv show. Ive been a stacker ever since. Keep stacking
I thought I was weird because I’ve been carrying a 1 oz silver bar in my pocket for a while but switched over to the American eagle. I’ll always carry one with me. Good backup if you don’t have cash and need gas or something you have $20-40 on you at all times. Plus it’s beautiful!
I've carried a silver eagle in my pocket since the late 80's. I get a new one every year to carry. My reason to carry one? Because my dad always carried one.
But they've only been making them since 1986. If you've been carrying around one since the late 80s, how could your father have been carrying one as a tradition before that?
@@firearmsstudent they were reintroduced essentially in 1986 after they took silver and gold (constitutional money) out of our money. I assume his dad carried a constitutional coin of some kind as a tradition; I don't think it sounds strange because I've started doing it myself a few years ago, because I like having God's money on me. It's nice having something that is real in your possession and it can become a good way to introduce uninformed folks to constitutional money and the difference between FRNs and real money. Just my 2 cents.
I’ve been caring around to Morgan’s for years 1921 and 1881 for exact same reason just love the feel of the touch and how it ping them together and sound it makes. It’s a thrill of not losing it constantly making sure it’s there.
I go to a lot of expos for work and I carry a silver Britannia for the same first reason you mention. If I meet a fellow stacker from another country I gift it to them. I know I would love a coin from another country and collect different mints coins and it’s always nice to share a hobby you have with someone else you meet. I also work with coins on my desk as a reminder of my goals, thought I was the only one that did that!
Carrying silver in my pocket saved my ass once I ran out of gas made it to a station tho and the attendant knew what the coin was worth and let me get some gas i believe he wanted it for his collection
I have carried around a couple of 1964 Kennedy half dollars for years. I like to carry two or three of them because I enjoy hearing the sound of silver jingling. I would never mistakenly spend them, because I always give a Kennedy half a good look over whenever I see one. I remember the first time my daddy plays one in my hand in 1964. I was 10 years old. I enjoyed the video. Thank you! I liked and subscribed.
I like your idea better than the one ounce suggestion. Half dollars aren’t used much in circulation, so it isn’t very likely to be *accidentally* spent - like a junk quarter or dime might be. Yet it is also more recognizable to non-collectors as a genuine US coin and can get you into a conversation about clad verses real silver coins. You could also more easily explain how you got it. (I’d use a Franklin half, I think, because it’s different from the clad Kennedys but not *too* old like the Walking Libertys.) Anyway, then you could say you “accidentally” stumbled upon it in a till where you once worked years ago or in a bank roll of halves. So you bought it out of that at face value as your “lucky coin!” (To me, carrying around a one ounce Silver Eagle screams “I’m a *stacker* and I *definitely* have much more then just this!”) That’s because you aren’t going to accidentally stumble on a Silver Eagle. You purposefully had to buy it. Whereas, a junk half is still a fanciful story, but it’s at least *possible* - if not fully plausible. You were just “lucky.”
You sound young; good on you for getting into it and being ABOUT it at your age. I was in my early thirties when I started getting down. I like to have a silver oz to remind me that this 25 dollar hunk of metal I used to be able to buy for five dollars when I was a kid! A continual reminder of the erosion of government issued currency.
Every single day I carry a minimum of 1 oz, usually my favorite piece. I’m obsessed w my silver. I love looking at it and feeling it and it’s weight, I also love the beauty and showing it to friends I trust.
An old timer gave me a Morgan silver dollar once because he said he didn’t want me to be indigent, said there used to be laws against that and the money I did have (fiat currency) wasn’t real money 😉
I play golf everyday and I have some guys there who take care of me, they get me on the course for a discount, free range balls, etc, and these niceties add up over the months and years. A month ago I gave the whole squad 4-ounce silver rounds, one each, which included a nice flip open velvet container with certificate of authenticity from Apmex. They loved them. I had a good conversation about silver, the meaning of FRNs, etc. One of them was a stacker, so that was cool. Silver makes a great gift, that's all I'm saying. And it's a gift that keeps on giving now that we're in the bull.
I do like your third point as well. I went to the doctor the other day and could have been bad news. I brought a peace dollar to remind me to have peace. I didn't get the bad news but it took much longer than I would have thought. The coin in my pocket helped me keep my cool.
I carry a generic silver round because one day I want to leave it as a tip at the restaurant. But unfortunately I have yet to get service worthy of the expense.
Started collecting coins for sentimental reasons and that got me loving how bullion coins look. I bought a very dirty/tarnished 1993 (my birth year) ASE to keep it in my wallet to fiddle with. I experimented and cleaned it up. Looks new except for the buff and scratches I made. Purposely damaging it makes it easier for me to casually carry it and show it around. It serves to remind me of wealth building and how we grow and change over time. I also splurged on a 1993-proof ASE to add to my US 1993 mint coin-proof set. It's the contrast between something frozen in time vs living in the moment.
I keep my 1 ounce silver pocket pieces capsulated to protect from being scratched. The first ounce of silver I ever bought was a 2015 ASE. I was so proud of it I took it with me on my honeymoon to England and Italy.
I carry around my lucky "Don't Tread on me" round. I like looking at it, holding it, and I'm one of those people who always needs to do something with my hands, so I can flip it around, fondle it, spin it, flip it, and stuff like that. I'm also from Boston, so there's some local pride there too
I carry two pieces... A very poor condition 1888 Morgan and a new Eagle. When a conversation turns to "money", I break them out and say, "*ahem, this is money, *that* is fiat currency". Most times, the distinction flies right over their head. I also carry them for a bit of mental security. As long as I have them, I'm never truly broke!
Silver also has anti-bacterial properties so it can be used as a crude form of a anti-bacterial. I also have a silver round with a Bible verse, so it’s a great conversation starter about faith, silver, stacking and the like. That’s the pocket silver I carry, but I agree that it also reminds me to keep exchanging fiat paper money for “real” money whenever I can.
@@christ7735For God so loved the world that he gave his only Begotten Son that Whoever Believes in him Should not Perish but have Eternal life. John 3.16.
I too carry a 1 oz. silver round on my person! A generic Buffalo round in an airtite case. Everyone I show is surprised and most have never seen silver let alone Gold. Going to purchase a 1989 (Year I was born) American Silver Eagle w/an airtite case and carry that one on me! Great video 😉
Reason #4 - In case the zombie apocalypse hits at that very moment, I can quickly barter for a tank full of gasoline to outrun the Mad Max caravan pursuing me! 😉
unfortunately, in that situation the gas is way more valuable/useful than a hunk of metal. better off carrying toothpaste/bullets for a true apocalyptic situation.
Yup, my Lucky 1884 Morgan Dollar. All worn down, really circulated, flip it all day playing and use it for quick yes/no decisions at times- 90% right -lol. (have a few ranging from 1879-1921 in better condition, little circulation- love Silver)
Most times I carry an 1886 US mint $20 Gold piece, it is the year my Grandmother was born. My father was the youngest of nine, the seventh son, Grandma was 46 when he was born. She is long gone, but he is 88 now, still going strong, CRS real bad though, you know CRS, right ? Can't Remember Shit !
I carry 2 generic Buffalo rounds: the very first one I ever bought, and one I picked up a little later that was obviously pre-owned. It has a little wear to it, some light scratches, and my first impression was that it had been carried for good luck before. It just has a good feel to it.
I carry a Morgan silver dollar in a money clip. (6 years). Gettin' a little worn, but I don't care. Has started more than a few conversations about my favorite metal. : )
I’m watching this 3 years after posting and it’s a great topic because I do the same thing for the same reasons, it’s a great tool for networking! It’s also a tank of gas in your pocket
Dad left me a bunch of silver dollars Morgan's and Peace dollars I've got an old Morgan this kind of worn out I carry it with me everywhere it reminds me of the gift I received from my father and I was never broke even when I thought I was because I had those coins that I never realized and now I'm stacking I'm going to give something to my son someday so I carry that silver dollar in my pocket every day
I also have a Dollar drilled on my keychain. It is a 1976 bicentennial though. Didn't want to put hole in the real stuff. Also wear 1-2 gold chains every day
Yes... I have a 2019 silver eagle b/c its the year my uncle died and I carry it to remember him. Its in a flip in my wallet. Its in BU condition... I got a tube plus 1 last year after he died.
ASE and the Walking Liberty Half Dollars are my favorite coin design. I carry a ASE in my pocket everyday but I keep mine in a round air tight acrylics capsule.
I been carrying a 1LB fine silver slab with me for a little over a year to show everyone And push it off to sale, ive ran into a few folks that make offers then I think about it a moment and say not for sale.. it's so satisfying
I have carried silver coin seance i was pre teen. Not always the same coin. But grandpa did and so have i for the past 30+years. Grandpa said you never know when you will need a hair cut. I throughout the years I've paid for hair cuts with silver coins.Im 44 this year.
There is at least one truly utilitarian purpose for carrying a fraction of your wealth around... ... paying for things! And in the case of Silver, one piece could make a difference in a pinch
I have been carrying a 1oz. Buffalo for about a year now. I speak to a lot of people about securing their financial future and show them how I have started. Good video, Thanks
I personally don’t carry a real silver coin on me but what I do carry is an old Chinese counterfeit “1911 Dragon Dollar" coin the size of a Morgan dollar. Its actually copper/nickel and zinc. The reason is that if I lose it, no big loss. But also because the engraved design looks so cool. The lettering style and the dragon on the reverse make it a much more interesting conersation piece. If this particular coin were actual real silver, the value would be between $400,000 and 500,000.
I carry a 2015 Canadian silver fox 1.5oz. Keep it in a velveteen in my coin pocket. It was my first pm and I carry it to remind myself to be sly as a fox.
I have a French silver Sower coin (1963 5 Francs with 83.5 % of purity) in my hand while watching your video ! I can't stop fondling this coin... I don't think Walking Liberty can be confused with other coins because she has a unique design and halves don't circulate that much
I carried a 1oz eagle in my pocket the day i became an american citizen, had done since i started the process, did my interview and through to my day of birth as an american.
Good Luck, its not so bad, i learnt my history in a couple of days just rereading the facts again and again...thesecurity spotted my ase...and asked if it was for luck, i said sure...every little helps.
My pockets are full enough as it is, wallet, coin purse, case pocket knife, cell phone, keys. I am finally debt free now and cut up my credit cards so I pay cash for 95% of what I buy now. I do sometimes take a couple silver rounds to the farmer's market to see if anyone wants to barter though.
Yes I got pocket silver. I do carry sometimes percentage ( otherwise known as junk or world silver) silver but I purposefully cary coins you would not mistake as pocket change like 1780 Austria Maria Theresa Silver Thaler AU/BU. Just whatever feels inspiring that day.
I carry around the first eagle i ever purchased 2 years ago a 1993 ASE and I'm planning on getting a morgan and carry one as well and hopefully pass them down to my children in 30 years
I've carried a Morgan 1901 since I was about 11. My grandpa gave it to me about a month before he died. So, for about 30 years it's been in my wallet. Also... silver is supposed to ward off spooky ghosts.
At work I actually found someone who is a stacker. He does not buy as much as me but I think that was kind of cool. Then I found another guy at work who said silver and gold is a good investment and he said the family has a sack of 90% that was left in the family. This I found out in just one conversation. You never know who is stacking or who has what. But if my co-workers really knew what I really had I think it would turn out bad.
I think I’ve mentioned that I also carry a 2015 ASE with me as a pocket piece also. At least I did until recently. I lost my 2015 somewhere in the couch, and now I carry a cull 2017! I think I would have to completely tear my couch apart to get it back. 🤔😁😅
I’ve been stacking silver rounds, came across a single silver round at a flea market; had a design that stuck out, so I carry it in my pocket. “The Hunter” 2016-‘17 like to carry it for good luck “law of attraction”, or ya know, quick $20-$30 bucks if your in a bind or shtf🤷🏻
Interesting video. I too carry around pocket silver. I'm following the tradition of my grandfather and carry a silver dollar. He carried a peace dollar so I follow suit. To me the historic value adds one more point to the intrigue. For history sake I would carry a Morgan but the tradition here is a peace.
Why i love silver coins in my hands or in my pocket ? Because of SOUND, shine and feelings what it’s worth something ( not like my country currency made of wooden junk ) ! At age 28 I can hear frequencies up to 19.5 kHz and a lot of people don’t understand me what I’m talking about... Recently I bought Morgan dollar 1921 and this sound is the most exiting what I hearing ! But to be honest, for me it’s a bit ridiculous to wear something what is almost 100 years old... Aaand i had replaced it with Eisenhower dollar (1971 S), not too big and sounds great. I’m really happy what I’m not alone wearing and flipping coin when everyone shaking pens and other fidget stuff in their hands.
I wear a almost One ounce 1889 CC Morgan copy on my middle finger. I made it. .999 is to soft through. I love making my own nuggets also. We won't talk about my American River dredging dazzz... Eldorado baby!
My thing is every year I get a brand new silver eagle of that year and carry it in a direct fit holder I been doing that for good luck and I always study the coin
I carry a 1922 Peace dollar and a 1943 Walking half dollar.. I wanted to know what 90% looked like everyday when it was used.. It stays polished with toning in the low areas
Gave 2 AU Franklin half dollars to a lady that was soliciting donations for a good cause the other day and made sure to tell her that they were silver and worth about 6 bucks a piece.
I once had an 1898 O Morgan Dollar that a customer once spent at my convenience store. I assembled a necklace that was a nice silver rope chain, a rope chain designed bezel, and soldered with no clasp. Unfortunately it was lost several years later, but I wore it most of the time. It wouldn't be hard to make another for around $70 and maybe a good circulated peace dollar. These days I have an older Sunshine Mint silver round that goes to work with me. I think of it as lucky and is the only thing in my collection intended for handling.
When i was young , an old man that lived down the street ( Mr. Price ),Gave me a completely worn Morgan dollar. At least i believe that's what it was , hard to tell. anyway, he carried that dollar, in his pocket, for 40 plus years. He Met Henry Ford with that dollar in his pocket, among other, less notable experiences. He gave it to me, only a few days before he died, when i was very young. I returned the coin to his son,( Mr price as well, lol) in the form of a metal sculpture --many years later. it is now hanging on the wall in the cabin that original Mr price built, by hand,,,,, with- you guessed it, he built it with that coin, in his pocket. I love to stack because of this experience. However, i do not carry a silver dollar in my pocket as of now, i think i will. Because of this video,, and i like it!
😕😭 I had my American silver eagle i carried for like 3 months and obviously slipped out my pocket it’s been 2 years and till this day I’m trying to find it. In all my pants and shorts jackets.
How is that not completely tarnished and toned and full of milk spots?? I've found ASEs and silver maples both very prone to that. Maybe I got a bad batch. But no more for me. Perth mint makes way better bullion

The verse is John 3:16 - the round is from Gainesville Coins - www.gainesvillecoins.com/products/169944/ichthus-1-oz-silver-round
Start making your own nano silver to drink it will save lives .colloidal.

I'm carrying the Aztec calendar. Gorgeous design, and the feel is just amazing
I would have to carry a LA Olympic 90% Silver commemorative for my birth year.

I like to carry a roll of silver quarters wrapped in gorilla tape for this, and also a fistload if I ever got to slug a werewolf.
I always carry a modern commemorative... they hold up better, like a classic silver dollar. 90%
Dad left me a bunch of silver dollars Morgan's and Peace dollars I've got an old Morgan this kind of worn out I carry it with me everywhere it reminds me of the gift I received from my father and I was never broke even when I thought I was because I had those coins that I never realized and now I'm stacking I'm going to give something to my son someday so I carry that silver dollar in my pocket every day
I believe Actual milk spots are from the stamping process, they dont just appear over time. They are actually stamped in
Impurities
I have a 1923 peace dollar with a hole drilled in it on my keychain. That’s my pocket silver. I also have a gold chain that never comes off!
I also have a Dollar drilled on my keychain. It is a 1976 bicentennial though. Didn't want to put hole in the real stuff. Also wear 1-2 gold chains every day
I've got a 1922, came with the hole, so I keychained it
I carry a 10gram gold bar also.
thats how i would keep my precious metals, no packaging i could careless if they get scrathed, its the weight and purity that matter to me
Silver is silver regardless of the condition! Unless of course it’s a collectible coin 🥈
Won't the weight decrease over time?
I like carrying an 1887 $10 gold eagle in an air title for luck. It’s worked well so far! It’s a lot lighter than an ASE as well.
I have carried silver coin seance i was pre teen. Not always the same coin. But grandpa did and so have i for the past 30+years. Grandpa said you never know when you will need a hair cut. I throughout the years I've paid for hair cuts with silver coins.Im 44 this year.
I always carry a pickle in my pocket, You know, just in case.
I have one in my pants lol
"That what She said"
Can I have a baby carrot in my pocket all the time?
I carry a little 1 oz poured piece with me, just love giving it a feel occasionally
I just started stacking silver. Its feels good looking at it knowing it's not a fiat currency. I love the heavy weight of it also.
I'm waiting for my interview, hopefully I get to carry an eagle too. I'm currently carrying an Aztec round lol
Good Luck, its not so bad, i learnt my history in a couple of days just rereading the facts again and again...thesecurity spotted my ase...and asked if it was for luck, i said sure...every little helps.
Love this patriot.
Thanks.
Same. My grandpa carried 1817 large cent
Don't forget to tear the couch apart when you get rid of it lol
When I carry silver, I carry a Canadian Maple Leaf and it is inside a clear plastic coin case. That way, no mistakes....and it stays pretty!
I could be (silver) coin checked any day of the week. I'm with you bro. Keep up the good work!
I got a 1941 silver quarter in change while on vacation and I’ve been carrying it around ever since.
That's pretty good. Most people can't do that in their prime.
@Dennis Leese over 10 buck's..there is much more where that came from.
What are milk spots?
These are milk spots: th-cam.com/video/7U9BaYfUwec/w-d-xo.html
The gnarly splotches that half of the silver eagles I've ever bought developed within 6 months
Hey Mykie! What do you think of a krugerand?
An excellent coin!!
It was good enough for James Bond
What about a Silver Morgan..I have been carrying in my clutch bag a 1888 "S" Silver Morgan for the last 23 years..it has never left me..
I like your #3 point. Kind of point things into perspective. Don't forget that grind, be the bank!
i carry a ben franklin half dollar in my pocket everyday. i was born in 1954 and the half is a 1954
I once had an 1898 O Morgan Dollar that a customer once spent at my convenience store.
Stacking buddies are to bomb. Stacking friends=Birthday silver
Great video and yes,
Yes I do carry a silver pocket coin.
At almost all times I have a 1oz 1982 Mexican Libertad in my pocket
😕😭 I had my American silver eagle i carried for like 3 months and obviously slipped out my pocket it’s been 2 years and till this day I’m trying to find it. In all my pants and shorts jackets.
How is that not completely tarnished and toned and full of milk spots?? I've found ASEs and silver maples both very prone to that. Maybe I got a bad batch. But no more for me. Perth mint makes way better bullion
Nice! I carry a Canadian 0.50 cent piece 1957 80%, plus 3 hand poured ounces and a 1/4 oz button. Lol
I just love the Maple's. They are my favorite of the commonwealth coins.
Maples and AUS Roo's, they make me feel like I am taking from her majesty. Small letters on purpose.
I keep a 10oz Tombstone nugget in my pocket. I used to carry rocks lol.
I never show it off though.
Rocks to a 10oz silver tombstone... nice upgrade!
carried $200 in mercury dimes on motorcycle today felt like an anchor, felt good!
I carry a captain (privateer series 2oz) and a 1angel (Isle of man 2016 1oz ) can’t beat the feeling of weight in your pocket and knowing it’s wealth
I carry a1884 Morgan..... love the feel of it, it’s my fidget toy
Fondling it is great too !
