My getaway to BTS was actually Jimin in the tiny desk concert.
They always have backing tracks especially when dance is involved. SUGA will sometimes stop singing in the middle of a live performance to show the audience the difference to prove he is singing live.
Yes. The backing tracks serve several functions - they help recreate the layered vocals sound of the official recording, they help make a ‘bigger’ sound, but also many songs - such as this have a second, background, melodic line to the main melody and the backing track provides this.

That voice! He is so graceful, yet powerful. And yes, he is as rare as a male calico cat! I love him in Film Out and Magic Shop, and of course in Mikrokosmos. And his solo dance performance at the MMA 2019 is the most beautiful contemporary dancing you’ll see just about anywhere!

Although my biases are Jungkook and Jin, I must admit that the first time I listened to a BTS song (with all 7) Jimin was the one that caught my attention, only later when I learned more about their songs, their stories and personalities, I understood to be more attached with JK and Jin, however the story of Jimin, the problems he had with the perception of himself and his great love for dance, as well as incredible voice enchant me every time I see him💓. Jimin is considered attractive, sexy, there are several videos of people watching BTS and remain enchanted by Jimin, they call it "the Jimin effect" , among the Army there is a saying: "once you Jim-IN you can’t Jim-OUT" once he enchanted you with his charisma, personality and talent is over!💜
I definitely recommend "Lie" and "Filter" by Jimin!💕

Jimin is like a fairy prince to me so beautiful and gentle.
the members who have demanding choreographies have more of a backing track, which is pretty normal for any performer. but what i love about bts is how they never pretend to sing when the backing track is playing. they either close their mouth or put their mics further away from their lips. a lot of people misinterpret that as them being “caught” lip syncing, but that’s actually just bts being genuine and not wanting to fake anything.
jimin’s voice is the most unique voice you will ever hear. the only way i can describe him as is “angelic”. i’m excited to see you react to more of his stuff🤍

Oh its my bias lol. Jimin had me hooked the first time I heard his voice. Believe it or not the first time I heard him was when they sang a cover of Ill be missing you , I just had to hear more of him and the group. I love Jimins voice and range. To be honest Jimin has great solos but I love his voice within the group songs it just hits different. Jimin has worked so hard on his voice and it has paid off. Jimins personality is great too, he is sweet, caring, funny, but he can be sassy and sneaky too.Also the members have said out of all of the members the scariest when mad is Jimin or Hobi lol. Jimin is a very good looking guy and there are funny videos out there called the jimin effect. Anyway love me some Jimin and I know the intro will have some sad moments and im ready for that. But with out the hard times you dont get the Jimin we have today.

The Serendipity MV is an abridged version of the song (Verse 1 & 2 only), but the live performance is the whole song (with bridge). The lyrics are pretty straight forward with a few clever double entendres (since RM wrote the song). Serendipity is a milestone for BTS because it opened the entire “Love Yourself” album trilogy which starts off with describing the first stage of love: the sense of fate and destiny and everything is wonderful. It really served as the capstone to the most pivotal shift in BTS’ musical career.

Serendipity is one of my favorite comfort song (with Magic Shop ) . Every time I'm feeling down, the sweet voice of my angel give me peace and comfort. Jimin is a sweat heart, selfless, caring, smart, that's why of lot of Army call him Angel . But on stage, he is a magnetic performer. He has this little touch of magic that transcend the moment, and made him kind of a fairy creature, poetry and music in motion. His unique and delicate voice, his elegance and fluidity, his beauty, the way he express emotions threw his moves, his whole body, his hands, and face, even his stares on you, contribute to mesmerize the audience. Am I jimin's biased ? Certainly yes, since the first second I saw him. Lol ! But no one can denied his talent. You should react to Lie, live version, it's a masterpiece. And I'm i love with Promise (his own song) , With you (his OST, a duet with his friend Sungwoo), and Christmas Love (a Christmas song he wrote for us during the pandemic ) .
Just so you know, 99% of BTS perfomances have backing tracks to let them breathe during their choreos. The only times they don't is during live showcases like the tiny desk concert or BBC where they are sitting down and singing without the strain of dancing. Anyway, thanks for your reaction! Seeing the softer side of Jimin it's easy to forget that he's a Black belt in Taekwondo and trained in 4 or 5 other martial arts disciplines. You can see it in some of his dance moves though. Tootles!!!

Assumptions that go beyond a reasonable doubt, this theme out of Jimin's inspiration is a very beautiful theme in response to Suga's Seesaw theme. Many will not accept it but the direction of this song goes directly to Suga in this emotional situation born since the debut, with the wonderful dance and voice of Jimin.

❤️JIMIN, at age 11, started studying, performing, & competing (winning every competition), in hip hop, popping (excelled), & street dancing, while attending the renowned Just Dance Academy in Busan where he's from! He was so good that an instructor even had the high tuition fee waived at one point! This was while also attending middle school, where he loved sports, being quite athletic, joined the football team, excellent at track, great at basketball, & billiards! Jimin also, all throughout his schooling, was known as a top scholar, achieving perfect scores, especially in math & science which just always came easy to him! Jimin was even class president for 9 yrs in a row! Jimin, all throughout his schooling, was also quite good in art class, as well as calligraphy.
Jimin, then also took up contemporary dance. The media, after seeing a performance of Jimin's performing at a huge Busan Festival Event, called Jimin "The rising star of Busan"!! JIMIN also studied ballet & traditional Korean dance while attending Busan High School of the Arts. Jimin still went to Just Dance Academy to take hip hop classes whenever he could because his first love has always been hip hop, even though he was now majoring in contemporary! JIMIN even had an offer to dance overseas, but declined because he also wanted to become a singer since the 2nd grade, to the dismay of one of his dance instructors who said "The world of dance was going to lose a great artist"!!
So Jimin then went and auditioned for BigHit Entertainment, (company BTS is signed with), being the very last member to join, being a trainee for only a few months (which is unheard of for most Kpop idols), as opposed to the 2-3 yrs of being a trainee the other members had! But Jimin was so good that he was assigned the official title of one of the two Main Dancers, as well as Lead Vocalist. Jimin was even assigned most of the high notes since the very beginning, because even without all that training in the beginning, he was that good, a natural born singer who, just like his dancing makes you feel every emotion and feeling he's trying to convey!
JIMIN, also, for 8 yrs, since a quite young boy, trained in various forms (4), of martial arts: Taekwondo (Blackbelt), Hapkido, Kumdo (Korean form of Kendo), & Chinese martial arts. He even won a scholarship, the only student to do so, to study more extensively in China for awhile! All the martial arts training has given JIMIN his phenomenal inner core strength, as well as his amazing flexibility, which has enabled Jimin to achieve all those breathtakingly spectacular gravity defying dance moves! I know this is just Jimin solo songs you’re looking at right now but honestly in some of the group ballad type songs his vocals are just beautiful. Well, actually all the vocal line have beautiful voices. It’s astounding how hard they have worked on technique to become this good. I don’t know if ballads are your thing but things like “House of cards” and “Film out” are completely different but both 👌

For this song, I feel like Jimin had to find a way to perform very developed dance moves while singing a very steady song (with a lot of long steady notes, like "let me loooove youuuu") so using a backing track the way he did was smart and gave the whole performance a really neat and delicate aspect (and gave him the chance to freaking breath too 😂). Great reaction !!
Jimin excellent solo is called Promise. His vocals on that are amazing. You should also react to BTS track HOME and again, Jimin sounds smazing on there. No m/v for that but they did a live remote performance on Jimmy Fallon. That was BTS WEEK if you want to check them all out!💜
he has backing tracks but he still sings live and it s hard for him to stay on notes while dancing or moving. jimin has an amazing voice you can tell from many songs either of bts or his solos, like for example lie (live) or with you (his lastest song).

They definitely use backing tracks in their live performances. The choice of how to set it up of course depends on dance moves - the more intensive dance moves are the more chances they would highlight certain notes instead of singing full lead vocal line. In this particular performance you could clearly see the mic jumping around so that it’s really hard to produce stable sound. For parts of the song where Jimin’s doesn’t dance the volume of the backing track is much lower.
This is just amazing how well thought their performances are. They want to go for the live sound but never sacrifice the quality.

It is not just a normal love song. It is more about opening up to and appreciating the splendors of the outside world when one has lived a sheltered existence oblivious to the beauty that is outside one's safe space. Literally an image as simple as pricking one's finger on the cactus drawing blood shows how exposure to what is outside you is a source of self-realization. I think in your journey you need to remain cognizant that K Pop songs are not simply auditory but a mix of music with visual imagery and motion. Only approaching one of the two will more often than not leave you with a fairly undeveloped understanding of the artistry and sad to say an American style interpretation. This is particularly true with BTS which embeds meaning in so many of their songs.
BTS' creative production team for all their performances is totally lit! Everything was well thought :)

the reason that it's a love song is because it's part of the Love Yourself Trilogy and it's the intro of the first album "Love Yourself: Her" which is about the feeling of finding love and being in love, so it fits the album's concept... in this song, it's about finding love without looking for it cause one believe that it's destiny, hence the title

Serendipity is the intro of the first "Love Yourself" album. With this context I don't take this one only in a romantic way hehe. "You are I, I am You" Jimin says. I think it is a conversation with Jimin and himself. "Just let me love" could be "Please I want to love me". Many lyrics in this song can be read this way and I think it is interesting.
Love Yourself : Her is the first step in travel to love yourself and focus on "idealistic love" a love really pretty but maybe a little bit too "honey moon". When the other side in the relationship take too much importance. The song just after is "best of me" which could be resume by "my lover is the best of me". It"s romantic in some way but also sad in other way. Like if "I" can be loved for just myself. In Love Yourself : Tear, the illusion is broken. This trilogy is really beautifully build I think it will be really enjoyable to hear album in order if you want !

Suga will always be my bias, but V and Jimin are my sub-bias. There is no denying the beauty of Jimin's voice, or his dancing. His bodylines take my breath away. Even the way he walks while he is performing...💜
There is a reason why Jimin is referred to as "The Prince of K-Pop". He is a favourite, and inspiration, among many K-Pop artists; especially the younger ones. And he has been listed as one of the three best dancers in the industry, along with Kai of Exo, and Taemin of Shinee. He is truly exceptional. And he is, by all accounts, as beautiful a person as he is a singer and dancer.

Ahh! Jimin's voice is just so incredibly unique! I love it. His charisma on stage shines, especially when it's his solo songs!
I'm not sure how you pick the songs you do, but I highly recommend "Stigma" when you get to V! It just really really shows his vocal range even though he's technically a baritone. The live is SO good.
All of the videos John does are pulled from a list I have composed from all the suggestions in the comments here. I've got Stigma on the schedule, but that's not the song we've chosen for BTS week. 😉Which is sad because Stigma is one of my absolute favorites of all their songs.

I fricken love Jimin. I am OT7 but Jimin’s personality reminds me so much of me when I was his age. I get flashbacks when he does things and says things. Yeah I know it’s weird. 🤷🏼♀️ I have a little bit of Yoongi personality too but I can totally relate to our Jimin.
It doesn’t hurt that he is pleasing on the eyes almost angelic, he can sing, dance and the list goes on an on.
He has an amazing voice. I love his rolls and you haven’t heard it yet but he growls too when he raps. Oh spoiler, yes Jimin can rap. So can all the singers.

Everytime i watch jimin performs, i always get shy you know especially if he look at the camera hahaha he has that effect. He's a beautiful person inside and out, and he's also the most vulnerable member getting attacked left and right. I miss his smile and i hope we can see him shine again in their comeback today 💜 thank you for the awesome reaction as always~

what I love about his solo songs is how different they are
serendipity, promise and with you, are beautifull ballads (that still sound completly different)
filter has this latin vibe and overall is just so sexy (especially live performance)
and lie.... is just a masterpice, what more can i say
ps. when you react to filter live, I recommend the one from day 2, the backing track is quieter or at least i think so

This started my into the BTS rabbit-hole journey.
We don't really sweat the backing track stuff. If you are performing in a stadium in front of 50,000 people, you'd be a fool not to have one, particularly if you are dancing. As others have pointed out, the group has not made a secret of the fact that they sing over it, as they actually stop singing a line from time to time to show the difference. Better than having them on the floor, gasping for air!

I'm listening with headset on so I can clearly hear Jimin's vocal.When he paused singing cause he needs to catch his breath after some moves he did. They have backing track when they dance esp. intense choreography. Still, they are singing live. While dancing. I wish i could do both 😅 I love his song 'LIE'.
goshhhh i love jimin's voice. i really like that he doesn't even try and fake it and lip sync. he just lets it play. he's so adorable then you stick him on stage and he gives you one of these performances.
