    Nice video!
I spent some time researching both of these around a month ago and was looking for a video just like this.
Ended up opting for the Starlight.
Another difference worth adding to your comparison that sets the Starlight apart from the Mix is it can be used with Serato (for the benefit of other readers - a more professional DJ software), in addition to DJay. Whereas, the Mix cannot connect to Serato.
The RGB lighting, and soundcard that enables the direct connection of speakers and headphones makes it better suited for a mini home setup in my situation.
Hopefully, this feedback is useful to someone! It might save a bit of researching for those who are unsure which controller is better suited for them.

      Hi David,
You say it can be used with Serato: Do you mean that the starlight can be used with a Windows computer or Apple, and not only a smartphone ?
actually can the Control mix be used with a laptop by the way (Windows or Apple) ?

      @@Boris161
      Hi Boris,
      Thanks for your questions.
To answer your first question, yes the Starlight can be used with a Windows or Apple computer, and not only a smartphone.
I do not have first-hand experience to answer your second question with absolute confidence. However, from what I have seen online, the DJ software that the Control Mix is compatible with, named 'djay pro', is available on both mobile devices and computers (Windows or Apple), meaning that yes the Control Mix should be compatible with a laptop.
Having answered the above, I'd like to conclude by bringing attention back around to my original comment.
The Starlight is compatible with two types of software; 'Serato' (arguably more professional, Windows and Mac (Apple) compatible only) and 'djay pro' (mobile device compatible (and according to online resources should be Windows and Mac compatible too)).
Whereas the Control is only compatible with one software, which is 'djay pro' (as mentioned above).
      I hope that helps.

    Nice review.
The only drawback of the Starlight controller is the lack of a browse and load button/knob. However, is it possible to convert the function of one of the Jogwheels with the SHIFT button so that we map it to the browse function? Also SHIFT+ some free button can be used for load. Is it possible?

If you look for DJ Carlo here on TH-cam - he has mapped SHIFT + VINYL to advance the track selector and then he can press SHIFT + one of the headphone buttons to assign the selected track to that deck.

So the starlight is all wired. To your laptop, iPad or iPhone + any output speaker you want your sound projecting?
Also what does having a sound card mean? Thank you

    • @arunca190
      @arunca190 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

Soundcard is in the Starlight controller. You can connect headphones and main directly to it. The Mix does not have a sound card in it and thus cannot provide sounds. Look at it, there are no 1/4” or 1/8” holes like on the Starlight. Mix controls midi signals. The sound, when using the Mix, comes from the device the mix is connected to (phone, iPad, computer etc).
      Hope that makes sense.
