As a huge fan growing up in Tacoma, Wa. and attending many Seafair races, it was neat to see so many drivers from my home state. At 66 years of age, yes I miss the piston boats but the progression of hull designs and the turbines really make these boats scream. I have never seen such silky smooth and fast laps as I saw today. Thank you for this post.
I am from Detroit. Watching these beauties has deep roots in our family history. Bill Muncie would be so proud to know it is alive and well. Quake the lake guys. Thank you for sharing it with us.
My son and I were on the shore watching and he said wow dad he is really moving this lap...dang if he was spot on....171+mph Bucket List was absolutely flying
This is beyond cool !!!! I am from Owensboro Ky and back in the early 60s My Dad took me to my first Hydroplane experience. Back then they were all 12 cylinder Allison engines and the pilots was in open cockpits. I have seen them evolve over the years and it is fantastic. Thank you for helping me relive my childhood.
I've been building & running R/C Unlimited Hydro's of various sorts for 30+ years,, but never seen the full scale ones ''yet''.
Definitely on the bucket list within the next few or so years,, once we hit the road full time RV.
Just hope they still have Unlimited events then...
That U-40 was frigg'n fly'n,, & set up looked -''nice 'n' flat'' spot on ! 😎
Added,,
The anouncers sound Guy kind'a thru a wrench in the spokes with the ''way'' over cranked up volume.
Can't hardly even hear the boats over them ! 🙄
Love watching the Hydros 🇺🇸
Nicely done...Brent Hall
Hello Brad and Bruce. We miss you guys in Detroit. Gasper and Maria
I miss miss Budweiser I miss circus and I miss Alberto
Never got to see the Miss Budweiser run.
Went to the Bud shootout @ Lake of the Ozarks back in 05',, & the MB used to run that & pretty much win.
Sad I just missed seeing it run by only 1 or 2 years,, Since Bernie passed ''I think'' a year or two before.. 😔
How many new fans are watching their first race live after the Stapleton42 video
Just love boats
I was pulling for Dustin Echols
So glad you are on the air watching in Texas love the lake spent time there one fall.
I feel bad about Brent Hall's U-440 boat breaking down in the 2nd qualifying round. But it seems like this turbine boat should be running faster than the piston powered U-3 boat. I noticed that he had the slowest time after the 1st qualifying round???
Welp that was great to see Kelly win the first heat
Where's the budweiser boat ? ,gotta be 40 years since i seen these ,hope she's still running 🏃♂️
😢 Still no live chat 😢
I wish the Miss Budweiser Squire Shop and the Atles piston power boats would come back. I was up in Tri City Washington when in 1982 when the Miss Budweiser blew over and killed it driver. I was the last person to get his autograph before he died
I love these boats but gosh its so hard to fish going this fast
Yes Yes Yes H1 Unlimited! The season begins, let's go Team Orange!
Watching from Tallahassee Fla. Some interesting camera angles. Thanks
Good to hear of mention for Bill Muncie. Anyone watching from Tallahassee should remember his closest equal though a generation later...Dean Chenoweth, driver of Miss Budweiser.
Scoot the prop back about a half inch putting a little more load on the sponsons and less likely to catch a little more air flip
I drove a 280. They are out of control basically weaving back and forth while the prop is constantly pulling the boat sideways as it walks on the prop
Is the U-3 catching a lot of air drag with that engine in the wind?I can't see how much is behind the cowling and not causing drag.
LFG ECHOLS!!!!!!
Good morning Brad
Miss Bardahl.
Bring back the pistons! Yeah buddy. I’d love to see Tate and big sponsor for the u3. That boat can run with the turbines just need the funds and support. King can drive no doubt he just needs some sponsors
They are running out of used Helo Turbines. If nobody makes one for this purpose it will happen. I am so with you. Bring back the Quake.
what was kellys technical violation?
Wow, King clearly jumped and Bernard got screwed
No chat :(
Why is one announcer VERY loud the other very quiet ?
Because Brad Luce is the best and gets into it like Dave Neihaus used to do for the Seattle Mariners. They are the Dave Neihaus and Rick Rizz of hydroplane racing....you get this if you are from Washington State
😊
Can you turn up Brad's audio and turn down the other guys audio. Have to turn it up to hear Brad then get blown away by other guys audio
24 years ago the boats were faster? 🤦
This is restricted racing nowadays...
The kilo, straightaway record, for an Unlimited was set in 2004 at 220.505 mph and the record for a competition lap was set in 1999 at 173.384. That's what he was referring to
I forgot one boat Atlantis I missed too
Boats; the most expensive way to go not that fast.
Unlimited Hydro's not that fast ?? 😳
Why not call it "The Confederaterate Cup"...Arkansas, armpit of the Confederacy.
Because that was ancient history. We are all Americans-color don't matter anymore. We are all race fans here to have a great time-all colors, nationalities and people.
It doesn't feel like ancient history. 1/6 coup? Smashing voters rights? Naw...Racism is thick through there.@@tombutler876
There oughta be a way to silence the commentators.
mute
@@reggie6480 then you can't hear the boats
You rarely hear the turbines anyways. Brad Luce makes the races exciting!
