I have been to Prague twelve times, it is a safe city. Ostrava and Brno are safe as well, in fact the whole country is safe and most of the people are chilled, just like Valerie 😃
I completely agree (four times in my case, last time was in 2012). All touristy places are bound to have pickpockets, but personally, I never felt less safe in Prague, be it on my own or with family and friends, than, say in Düsseldorf, Germany. Also: Beware of those money snatching corporations around the world called stores! :)
I've been to Prague loads of times and love it. But not as much as I love your delivery of the line "Whatever floats your boat" with associated eye roll.
I'm from the Netherlands, and I've been to Prague five times. I've missed this beautiful, romantic city since the day I left in mid-July, 2022. I think Prague is safer than Amsterdam, and a much better value for your tourist euro, dollar or pound. Thanks for the good advice in this video. Stay alert wherever you go!
I never felt more safe than I did when in Prague. A few months ago GoogleMaps navigated me straight into the 'home' (under a bridge) of some homeless people. It was a stinky and dirty place but nothing happend to me and the people that obviously 'lived' there were even very friendly. But I have to admit, I'm not easily scared and very down to earth. I always walk around like "the scariest thing around here is me".
I think it is an entertaining past-time of the residents of Prague to watch tourists trying to navigate their way around the old city while using Google Maps. 🤣
I know many people that visited Prague and felt very safe. Every city has its problems. I would rather walk through Prague during the night than walk New York City during the day!!!🙏🌹👌
I've also been to Prague 12 times. On 3 occasions I stayed in Radlicka round the corner from Andel. Last time I stayed in Rumunska round the corner from IP Pavlova. I've been in Chapeau Rouge many times. When I went to the Tesnov Jidelna I got the Metro to Florenc. I've used Hlavni Nadrazi to travel to Kutna Hora, Plzen and Bratislava. I have never encountered any trouble at any of these places...maybe I've just been lucky. The only time there was any trouble was in 2010 when my group stayed in an apartment right behind the Tyn church in Stare Mesto. The apartment was broken into and my passport was stolen. I visited the Police Station in your video, they were very helpful and provided the correct paperwork for me to go to the UK consulate for a replacement passport. As you say Valery, keep your wits about you, your belongings secure and you shouldn't encounter any problems.

I was in Istanbul in 2018. People left their phones, their wallets, and laptops at tables while they stood in line to get food, and these were high traffic restaurants in Taksm. Another TH-camr did a video of leaving a bunch of valuables in Japan. I guess people who leave phones on tables might be confused with where they are geographically speaking.
I have been visiting Czech Republic every year since we bought a flat in Prague 7 in 2006 except on 20 and 21 because of COVID. I find the whole country very safe even at past midnight alone walking. Praha is far safer then most places in the US where many people go missing or murdered everyday.
Omg Valerie you show all my favorite places, I'm so sad people say its dangerous. People just need to think, yes it's bad people can get robbed when passed out drunk, but just act normal and everything will be fine.
The last time I was in Prague in 2019 I saw 2 pickpockets take someone’s phone on the tram. Unfortunately, the victim was passed out drunk. Be careful because they work in pairs. So just be careful.
I've been living in Prague for over 15 years, have visited all the dark places and parks in the middle of the night and never felt a bit unsafe :) Though maybe I should have :D
I am staying in the centre of Prague right now, and it quite, most of those things you said about leaving phones and keeping bags zipped up... you need to do that EVERYWHERE unless you are at the North Pole. great video :)
We found Prague to be very safe. The worst thing we encountered was getting charged double for a taxi and witnessing a fire at a fast food joint on Wenceslas Square. We met some wonderful people, enjoyed delicious food and drink, and saw some beautiful sights. Stay aware of your surroundings and keep your guard up and you will enjoy a safe holiday in Prague.
ive been watching you for 2-3 years, only once, i slightly critirziced you comment from c.krumlov about juan d'austria ............... simply i was wrong, you were right .... they were TWO JUAN'S DE AISTRIA , FIRST WAS DEMENT, son of Rudolf & second one was skilled Hapsburg, unfortunately forgotten one during Napoleonic wars ................ i used to live there fairly intensely, till i was 28 years ago .... i walk there everyday & love it even during that demented TIME I ADMIRE YOU FOR WHATEVER REASONFING, YOUR HOME is PRG .... in my former beloved hometown ............... enjoy it there, as long and as much, as you can & God blessed you in yours endeavors ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, you are doing quite exemptional job ................... better than any arrogant czech .... i know them very well, i used to be one of them ... so long sweet "blond", stay with your natural hue .......... suits you better h
Hi, I used to live in Prague back in 92! i was there a half year and its the best place ive ever been. i wonder do i still get Smažený sýr around? the most healthy of all meals...hehehehehe but i love it! looking forward to go back again this year! stay cool
I am Hungarian, 76 yo. from Budapest. (Budapest is safer than Vienna.) and my love Prague (also with Valeria), where I traveled many times from 1973. I know the city somewhat. Very beautiful and very safe, in many ways safer than Budapest. There are even fewer pickpockets than elsewhere. .
I visited Prague-Vienna y Budapest last month and felt very safe in all of them, however I felt in love with Prague, I stayed in Old town, Vienna didn’t like it so much but Budapest my favorite! Beautiful city with friendly people
I just went to Prague and had no trouble with the scammers. They approached. I ignored them. I sometimes stepped around them. I did not speak to them. Amazing. They can’t cheat you if you simply do not engage. However, I did have to apologize to one guy I thought was a scammer. All he wanted was for me to take his picture. Don’t get me wrong. I kept my eye on him and his friend the whole time, but I smiled, took the picture, and had a nice chat.
Just a disclaimer... VERY DANGEROUS means you should be aware of your surroundings. You dont have to worry to be mugged of stabbed like in London for example
I've been in Andel at night just passing through coming home from a restaurant and it wasn't so bad if you just stayed aware of your surroundings. Wenceslas square gave me a bad vibe, as did around the main road and train station, especially at night.
I love your videos. I've only been to Prague once, by motorcycle, in 2008, yet I would like to go back and spend more time there. I've had to grab my wife's collar and pull her back to keep her from being run over, more than once. Whether or not a pedestrian has the right of way does not matter. Everybody is responsible for their own safety.
Hello, I loved you videos. I am planning to study in Prague from next year. Can you please say something about the skin care products in Prague. Where can I find them or what kind of shops are there for skin care products. Also is there any korean or japanese shop?
Don't be afraid about it. You can find all major skin care brands in Prague - Vichy, Yves Rocher, Lancome, L'Oréal, Nivea, Schwarzkopf, Clinique etc. However I would definitely recommend trying Czech skin care, for example excellent is Nobilis Tilia - very good cosmetics and their lotions/creams work as aromatherapy too. :) Other good brands are Cannaderm or Botanicus. Yes, I know one Japanese shop near Wenceslas Square or search for Japa Shop - this one is in Prague 6. :)
Recommendation for always letting the tram go even in a car is certainly a good one especially for a foreigner who cannot read additional informations under traffic signs written in Czech But if you are driving a car, tram has to usually obey the same rules in relation to you just as any other car would have. For example if tram is about to cross from a secondary road to a main road, it has to give a way for the cars on the main road. One spot like this I can think of right away is crossroad between streets "Odborů" and "Myslíkova". Trams going to the river have to give a way for every car on the main road.
My wife and I are so EXCITED to visit Prague in the fall this year. I will be running the Berlin marathon, and then spending the rest of our time in Czech Republic. I am from the United States, and I can wholeheartedly say the US is the most dangerous place in the world right now. I’ve visited developing countries, and felt safer than I do in the US.
Andel 🤣🤣🤣 thats where i will stay xmas and new years this year... it's like my 8th time in praha and i never had bad experiences not even at night riding the night trams. does anyone have tips for new years viewing the fireworks? 2019 a was watching from metronom are the other similar places??
Went for my first visit recently and absolutely loved it. Felt very safe and found it very easy to get around, and no, I have no affiliation to the Prague Tourist Board 😁
Nothing ever happened to me in Prague, but I was cheated in Vienna in caffé when they printed something what we didn't have on the bill, for higher price ofcourse. 😀 Do people really think that these things are happening only in Prague? But in last years, I feel like "unsafe" feeling in some places is worse than before, but it's still nothing compared to 90s when nazis nad gypsies had literally war at streets. My father lost his wallet in Pula, Croatia at street and we later found it at police station and nothing was missing inside, that would probably not happen in Prague. 😀 Drivers in Prague are not that bad, they mostly stop for you and they use blinkers. Here in village where I live, I sometimes have to just jump in front of car becuase nobody will let me go on crossing and when there is traffic jam in main road, you can't just wait for empty road, it's full always, so I would say that drivers in Prague are much more friendly than some rushing people in cars in villages because if they are late like 5 minutes, their wives are calling them where the hell are they, this culture is not in Prague, thankfuly. Have your phone and wallet in front pockets and you will be ok. The most dangerous places in Prague by my opinion are definitely - Florenc around metro station - that's really dangerous destination after dark, another is near, that's náměstí republiky metro station, there is always something happening and then probably Černý Most bus station. Václavák and other very historical places are ok, nobody will beat you there for no reason because there is plenty of people around you, but at Florenc metro station....that's really bad feeling sometimes when you see all those roma drug sellers and junkies and you hear yelling them for no reason, also, most of attacks with knife are in this area. I lived at I.P. Pavlova and except screaming drunken people, it's ok there, drunken people are annoying, can be agressive, but in most of situations, they are just drunken tourists, they are annoying when they scream under your window, but I am not scared by them as by people at Florenc station, people there look really dangerous. BTW, be careful when you see people with typical eastern european uniform, which is tracksuit, they are mostly agressive, I don't care if that person is ukrainian worker or russian tourist or some romanian, when I see eastern european looking person in tracksuit, I am always very careful, they just don't look ok to me, they have that "alpha male" walking style and staring at you very weirdly. I know that it's very dangerous to say it in these times, but when you hear in new that someone stabed someone with knife at Florenc metro station, you can be sure that those people were some ukrainians, and these people are NOT today war refugees to be clear.
I have lost an expensive handbag (2000 euro bag) and I thought someone stole it in tram 20. I left it there and police brought it to my airbnb because the address was in there. So thankfull
Ukrainian guest workers have been working in Hungary for a long time. They often get drunk and fight after work. We are not happy that many Ukrainian refugees have come, because they are quite aggressive and loud.
@@sandor7594 in Hungary or Budapest exactly which are the ethnicities that do most problems ? Apart from Roma, like Slovaks or Ukrainians or Romanians ?
I used to work in the breakfast room of a hotel and sooooo many people “claim” their seat by placing their bag on the seat and then leave it unattended for a long time when they get their food 😑 Just don’t. Even if random people from the street cannot access this area, other hotel guests may not be that honest when presented with such an easy opportunity. So don’t be surprised if your bag or just your wallet is gone when you come back to your seat 🤷♀️ And I would say to always avoid parks after dark wherever you are 🤔😅
I'm off to Prague for the 6th time in November and the only worry I have is I hope its not to cold at that time of the year😂. I would say to anyone who has any worries about safety in this wonderful city.. Fear no more it is a totally safe place even at night.
I lived in Prague for 21 years. Still coming there to visit my parents every year. And its extremely safe city. I'm woman and I have been only afraid to walk alone in a dark parks or streets in middle of night. But its still kind of rare to be attacked as lonely woman. Have to be extremely unlucky. If you are not lonely woman you will be fine walking anywhere during the day or night in Prague. But its true people steal a lot. So just watch your stuff anywhere you go because anything you leave people will steal immediately. Like not kidding people steal even toilet paper in public toilets if they can 😂
Every city can be dangerous if you’re in the wrong place at the wrong time. We just returned from Prague and found it friendly and generally safe. We enjoyed Czech food and the world renowned Czech pivo (beer). 👍
I found this video very informative👍and I can say that none of these places have many entries on my 'want to go list' so I feel quite safe for my upcoming first visit. Every city has potential dangerous places and visitors should do some research in advance on that and not just look at pretty pictures and fancy descriptions about their destination. And naturally tourists should connect with their sense known as 'common' when visiting an unknown place. Negative experiences can then be avoided or at least severely limited. I do plan nightly activity as well for some 📷. Summertime is not ideal because of the long days, but still I hope the results will be nice.
Hi Valery thanks for the videos on Prague. I have a question. We are coming to visit your beautiful city in December from Malaysia. We were looking at a place to stay in I. P. Pavlova called Alfons Boutique Hotel. In your video above you gave some cautions about the I P Pavlova area. Tell me, is it safe to safe to stay there? Is it safe to walk around that area? Apparently its near the Old Town and also the bus and train stations. Thanks
Hi selpingos... I'm not Valery but as someone from Ireland who lives in the UK I can say that even around Pavlova it is very safe. I have been to Prague many times and it is so much safer than any British city. So have no fears. I shall be going over again in November and look forward to this beautiful city.
This may interest you. I've been told that at one time any vehicle had priority at pedestrian crossings which is why motorists are so reluctant to give way. I feel safer in Prague at any time than in my home town of Sunderland on a Friday night. I'm British but live in Prague.
I was in Prague recently, and my hotel was near Andel. I didn't have any problems at night, and always felt perfectly safe. Even riding the metro and trams at all hours was not a problem. I think Prague is about safe a city to visit as any other. Anybody planning to visit should purchase their tickets, make their reservations and pack their bags.
As latino living in Prague for 3 months... Must say this is heaven lol yes basic safety rules but here won't come anyone to assault you, knife, gun, kidnap, etc. Yes, at night with drunk people, stay away and more from groups, they will probably try to annoy you, aside that, you keep walking and done. So, I love this city
Priority is for pedestrians. That is all I know. Also, the more you move to the east of Europe, the more trouble you will face. I have a friend from Prague who lives now in San Francisco; he criticized the people there for exploiting foreigners and having all their credit and money because he was a refugee and did not have papers.
Hi, is it easy to find an apartment for rent in Prague? I am planning on renting an Airbnb for 3 weeks while I look for an apartment for long term. I'll be there for 10 months. I wonder if the 3 weeks is enough to find an apartment?
Anybody who thinks Prague is dangerous doesn't have experience with cities. It's so much safer than Los Angeles or San Francisco in my state. I felt a million times safer in Prague than in Paris. The key with travel to any city, even one that's "safe" is to be alert and aware. Bad things can happen anywhere, but the great things usually outweigh the bad.
Prague is generaly one of the most safest cities in Europe but there are still sketchy areas that are far from city centre and that turist (thank god) dont visit. If you can, avoid "Skalka" on metro A line. Homeless people, drugs, junkies, graffiti, bad smell etc. Same can be said with "Černý most" or for example "Kačerov". So just dont visit uptown neighborhoods of Prague. Also be extra careful in busy and crowded places like tram, train or metro stations as small robbery are kind of common
@1:15 In My Country (Kuwait) and the rest of GCC Countries it is totally normal to leave Your personal belongings like car keys or laptop on a cafe table and go to the toilet or to smoke a cigarettes out side. BUT I would never ever do it when I am on a trip to other Country! That is the most stupid thing to do.
Hi, From Na Knizeci bus terminal, I have to take tram no.5 to Jindrisska (my hotel is Exe City Park Hotel). Please guide me : 1. where to buy a tram ticket . can I pay with credit card or cash only ? 2. where to get on the tram no.5, how to find it Best wishes
Once they tried to scam me by putting less items (guys selling in the street and at a shopping with chocolates, yeah... That scam level lol) and I became aware of the tactics, so I stopped them and complained... So argued a little, demand them to comply and ended up giving me more haha so... That is the danger here. Of course if you go all in good faith that everyone is nice, sometime it will fail, but must say, I have tempted destiny drinking and nothing happened. So, again, as latino and used to more tricky people, would say this is 90% safe place rather than south America where it can be a 40% safe
All this is common sense. Having had the misfortune to grow up in Cambridge, it is absolutely no surprise that Prague is massively safer - and much more beautiful - than Cambridge.
My 3rd in Prague (23 July 2023) and I haven't felt this safe anywhere else. I don't even feel as safe in my own country of India, although nothing happens but just the vibe of Prague is amazing. But we in India don't have the drunken problem as much as I have seen in Europe. The drunk rowdy behaviour in Europe is insane. The worst in Europe in my experience has to be UK. I've lived there before and wouldn't want to spend late nights roaming anywhere. BTW, I see homeless people be in a bent over begging position in the evenings. Not dur8ng the day. Anyone know why this is?
I was in the Czech Republic a year and a half ago, with some time in Prague. I was dragged into the Bermuda Triangle by some group called Real Prague Guides. Of course, it was during the day. Is Prague safe? Not really. When I goit home, I was tested and my Cholesterol was significantly higher. 😜
I worked in city centre before COVID and I finish my job late at night. The worst thing ever happend to me was prostitute on Václavák asking me if I want sex. 😂
I am a professional driver , been in most of European countries, but I have never seen such a bad drivers like in Czech Rep. They were known as bad drivers, but now I have seen it myself personally.. I dont know if it is the same in other cities, but Prague is very, very bad when we talk about traffic safety and rules
Stealing a safe distance, not observing the speed limit, not giving a direction indicator... it's probably a nationwide varmint. I do not understand that. He barely gets out of the car, is so cool. But in the car he is like a madman, like a rally champion. That feeling of rushing, quickly being (5 minutes earlier) at home? I'm sorry as a Czech. Perhaps it would help if the police were more visible. When a moral appeal is not enough.

One of the best and most honest videos I have seen on safety, really looking forward to visiting in December!
Looking better than ever
Great tips !
I like your sense of humor 😄. Looking forward to my visit this summer
Safer than Oslo must be very safe, having been to Oslo. And, I like your expression, "whatever floats your boat". That's a new one to me!
Idk why always like how Valerie says bye haha 😄 I just expect that now
I usually walk from Andel during the night 03:00)and it’s almost always dead the whole way I walk to my apartment lol
HIIIIIII BELIEVE IN WOMAN ,🎶MY OUH MY🎶❣️❣️❣️😊😊😊THE MELODY,THE BAND WAS "MEAT LOAF"!!!
Stay aware of your surroundings and keep your guard up and you will enjoy a safe holiday in Prague.
ive been watching you for 2-3 years, only once, i slightly critirziced you comment from c.krumlov about juan d'austria ............... simply i was wrong, you were right .... they were TWO JUAN'S DE AISTRIA , FIRST WAS DEMENT, son of Rudolf & second one was skilled Hapsburg, unfortunately forgotten one during Napoleonic wars ................ i used to live there fairly intensely, till i was 28 years ago .... i walk there everyday & love it even during that demented TIME
I ADMIRE YOU FOR WHATEVER REASONFING, YOUR HOME is PRG .... in my former beloved hometown ............... enjoy it there, as long and as much, as you can & God blessed you in yours endeavors ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, you are doing quite exemptional job ................... better than any arrogant czech .... i know them very well, i used to be one of them ...
so long sweet "blond", stay with your natural hue .......... suits you better

Beautiful city with friendly people
Sandor, in what ways is Budapest not safer than Vienna or Prague ? Looking forward for your opinion
@@raulpopa4196 Hmm. Because a Hungarian is safer because he understands the Hungarian language.
Budapest definitely feels safer than Vienna...and I know why
I believe it to be much safer than the US. Plus, you guys have beer waterfall oasis!

Welcome to india, we learn these hacks in childhood
yea so india is dangerous place full of scamers what a flex
These are really just general safety tips for everywere
Recommendation for always letting the tram go even in a car is certainly a good one especially for a foreigner who cannot read additional informations under traffic signs written in Czech
But if you are driving a car, tram has to usually obey the same rules in relation to you just as any other car would have.
I'm here now visiting and I walked from Florenc bus station to catch the #8 tram to get where I am staying. Made it safely.
Only bad thing in Prague is that people try to scam with money exchange.
But, this is no Czech people...Romanian, bulgarian...
@@mikeman787 I didn't say Czech people! It's the only bad thing in Prague, I said. Doesn't matter where they are from..
Ok.Visit New York, London, Barcelona......Whos the most dangerous city???Prague is safe city..
Thanks for the information
if Andel is the most dangerous place at Prague, I am totally save at Luka :D
Nothing ever happened to me in Prague, but I was cheated in Vienna in caffé when they printed something what we didn't have on the bill, for higher price ofcourse. 😀 Do people really think that these things are happening only in Prague?
But in last years, I feel like "unsafe" feeling in some places is worse than before, but it's still nothing compared to 90s when nazis nad gypsies had literally war at streets.
My father lost his wallet in Pula, Croatia at street and we later found it at police station and nothing was missing inside, that would probably not happen in Prague. 😀
Drivers in Prague are not that bad, they mostly stop for you and they use blinkers.
What's betting that the reports outside the police station are the scammers reporting Janek for 'harrassing' them? 🤣
I love my short stay (3 Days) in Prague. Itd safe and beautiful
I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU ST VALERYE ...YOU WILL ALWAYS DEFEND ME !!!...US...☦👻👻👻✝️💜🦄❣🌹😇😇😇👀🛐
Beautiful city, beautiful women, great place to listen to Jazz at a Jazz club. The people there are wonderful.
So don’t be surprised if your bag or just your wallet is gone when you come back to your seat 🤷♀️
And I would say to always avoid parks after dark wherever you are 🤔😅
Pizza Roma at I.P. Pavlova
people who say it's dangerous in Prague probably have never been to Brazil
Nice video ☺️.
You should use subtitles in your videos.
Thank you ❤️
We ´ve been to Prague last summer and never felt uncomfortable and scared…nice city with less crime as most cities of equal size (e.g. in Germany).
Like not kidding people steal even toilet paper in public toilets if they can 😂
Wish I did to be there.
Life is a challenge
@@vincentwhelan475 Thanks Vincent
This may interest you. I've been told that at one time any vehicle had priority at pedestrian crossings which is why motorists are so reluctant to give way. I feel safer in Prague at any time than in my home town of Sunderland on a Friday night. I'm British but live in Prague.
There is different issue without lights to signal move/stop prople going in one very long string and as driver you loose your shit affter while.
I ❤you 😆 thx for sharing I'm in bangkok come visit with me in SE Asia 👍👍👍promise I'll stay sober. Main point avoid drunken ppl especially Latvian 😆
During making the video (as always very good, thank you) , how many cigarettes you had to give away in order not to be punched ?...
I guess having camera in hand is a natural repellent. Nobody asked us 😅
@@RealPragueGuides that is, why the selfie was invented By non-smokers 😂

As latino living in Prague for 3 months... Must say this is heaven lol yes basic safety rules but here won't come anyone to assault you, knife, gun, kidnap, etc. Yes, at night with drunk people, stay away and more from groups, they will probably try to annoy you, aside that, you keep walking and done. So, I love this city
❤️
it is fair to say that most troubles are actually caused by drunk tourists :)
I live in Milan Italy (one of the most dangerous cities here) so I am sure I can easily travel alone in Prague.😊
It’s so sad that this has popped up now onto my feed. I feel for the population of Prague and hope that it heals as soon as possible.
Hi,
From Na Knizeci bus terminal, I have to take tram no.5 to Jindrisska (my hotel is Exe City Park Hotel).
Please guide me :
1. where to buy a tram ticket . can I pay with credit card or cash only ?
2. where to get on the tram no.5, how to find it
Best wishes
Your accent here reminds me of Villanelle
I worked in city centre before COVID and I finish my job late at night. The worst thing ever happend to me was prostitute on Václavák asking me if I want sex. 😂
prostitutes were at vaclavak like 15 years ago. are they back? I didn't notice anything.
The worst thing to happen to me on I.P.Pavlova was a drunk guy mistaking me for a prostitute. I have send him to Ve Smečkách and it was the end of it.
4:49 🤣👌👍
is it safe for asian people?
Yes, definitely.
I’d marry this woman. lol
Hahaa! Dangerous city.....! Bevare of Stockholm or Helsinki. Huuuu.....!
