They weren't hearing themselves in the monitors properly. I've been there, and it's almost impossible to sing when you can't hear yourself. They did great considering, lol
yeah, it was a bad performance, but it was lighthearted and funny. she literally said "this is bad" because they were unrehearsed but it was still a fun performance.
Poor thing wasn't able to hear herself at the beginning. It gradually got better afterwards. And yes, good on them for being playful with it rather than dead-serious :-)
this is the cutest performance ever. it reminds me of when me and my cousins were younger, how we’d do live covers of random songs in front of our family after practicing it like twice. we were so unprepared but the part that mattered was that we had fun. our family loved it. them both laughing cause they know how “bad” it was is adorable. and them pointing at eachother cause they’re confused as to who’s singing next, it’s all so fun. I also loved it when they danced, wish I was at this show. these girls are my shit 💞

I think that Speaking Terms is not the best song to Clairo, because her voice is so different that Lindsey's voice. Maybe she can sing Pristine or Golden Dream, even Let's Found Out. But we can see that they are having fun, and I think that was just that Lindsey invited Clairo to sing the last song just for fun and that wasn't prepared But I love it so much

To be fair, I think a part of this was an engineering issue. Around 1:40 you can hear her say “I can’t hear myself” and she plays with her earpiece throughout most of the performance. It’s really hard to sing when your stage monitors aren’t working, and it seemed like whoever was engineering this was having some issues. She becomes visibly more comfortable as the song goes on because she can finally hear herself. You can also hear a feedback loop around 4:00 (the screeching noise) from the gain on the mic being turned up too high. I’m not saying this was a particularly good performance on its own, and she’s definitely had examples of bad vocal technique in the past, but it’s also not the only problem going on here.
