I use Close Call differently than mentioned here. I use it to capture frequencies from places I visit like Malls and stores and Hospitals and colleges. It works in FM and DMR and NXDN and P25.
is it possible to register your new sds 100 in the Sentinel software? I went to the Uniden site to TRY and register the new scanner I bought from you guys last week. Great scanner btw. When I try to register the SDS 100 the form on the site will not accept my whole ESN. It stops with 3 or 4 characters left in my ESN. I fired off an email to the big U but I have yet to hear back. One of the major points you seemed to skip, is the actual connection of the scanner to the pc. My problem is the Sentinel software is recognizing the scanner and I was hoping you would show that process.
I programmed the scanner using the tutorial and pushed the profile into a BCD536HP scanner. However, after the scanner reboots, I get a "Scan Mode, Nothing to Scan" message. What are we not doing correctly?
I'm am located in the Mpls./St. Paul area myself and I'm new to digital scanning. I recently purchased a 436 and used the sentinel software as instructed here in this video for Ramsey county frequencies, now what happened was I got the frequencies I wanted saved and downloaded to my scanner but when I scan, all the other channels in the ARMER system pop up on my saved favorites as "unknowns", its clear I don't have my scanner set right or I missed a step in setting up my favorites on sentinel, but after a week here I still can't quite figure out what it is.
Hey there - there's a couple things that could be wrong. Ramsey and Hennepin both use Simulcast, so that could be why they're not coming up as known frequencies, OR the database isn't up to date, OR both. We recommend returning your BCD436HP for a simulcast capable scanner (maybe programmed by us next time :P)

Im not sure what i did wrong. I followed the steps. I live in Lynchburg va and they are on a P25 phase 2 system. Everything is showing / scanning from my favorites list but calls are not coming through ... Im still having to listen through phone app.

Hey Wendy, the point of using the Sentinel software to program the scanner is removing the frequencies you are not interested in and keeping only the ones you really want to monitor.
I'm trying to download the software to a new laptop (HP) when clicking on the Setup windows installer package I am getting a message that the setup requires the .NET framework version 2.0 does that sound kosher?
You will have to make sure that the favorites list is turned on first. If you still have Monitor Full Database and Search With Scan on, then the device will prioritize those two settings instead of the list you made.
You can't manually input the frequencies in your computer without the software but yes you can modify the name of the frequencies in the Sentinel software.

Most normal people would have answered more like this- "No. We took the SD card out of the scanner and hooked it up to our computer, but you don't have to do that. At about 12:06 the screen shows two check boxes. One says, "Monitor Full Database," which is checked, and one says, "Monitor Search with Scan." What does checking these boxes do? When should they be/not be checked?
Hello! Having the "Monitor Full Database" checked allows the device to monitor all of the US, while checking "Monitor Search With Scan" allows the device to receive channels by zip code or GPS.
I had this on my old computer. I got a new one and I cant install it for some reason. I keep getting a window popping up saying I need to install .NET framework version 2.0. Dont understand.
I have 2 536's and a 436. I just bought a new SDS200 from you and you guys programmed it for me. I LOVE IT!! Putting it mildly. How do I save your program, then create a new one with stuff I don't want. Do I create a new profile? I have a couple profiles for when I travel to Indianapolis to visit my Son and a different card for that.
Hey Robert, thank you for the feedback! You can export the file as an hpe file into a trusted folder of your computer. You would need a Windows OS for that: MAC won't work.
Your website UI is not user friendly. How do i select the Rem-820s? If I click this specific antenna, I should be able to add it to the cart. I cannot select the o-ring version, only sma or bnc.

This is one of the better videos for explaining things. One question. You were deleting departments under Hennepin county from the favorites list. If there is a database update adding a department, will it show up in the favorites list, or stay in the main DB? TNX!
Don't see it mentioned most anywhere but,you can just copy contents from original 4/8 GB SD Card to another preferably larger SD Card Formatted Fat32 & then replace orig with the New/Larger Card! Just done this with my Orig 8GB BCD435HP Card to a 16GB Card.Worked Fine! There is NO SPECIAL FORMATTING Of The CARD......Just FAT32...

Super easy to just do that. Update firmware and database. I just like to listen to FD and a few other channels where I live. I have my favorites but I always have database on it when traveling. GPS on my 536hp does great!!!

If you don't want the scanner to scan for the full database then you would need to program with a favorite list.

Sentinel would be for the newer models. The Scanner itself does not require programming.

You might have to format the SD card using the sentinel software. You can also try an SD card reader instead of the scanner itself.

That would be due to signal strength. I wideband antenna might do it for you.
After you have a few favorites lists how do you assign a favorites list quick key?
The SDS100 does not have a quick key feature - you go to Menu > Set scan selection > Select lists to monitor and turn them on or off there

I just installed the software and looking through the database, I see many channel names have an asterisk at the end. Would you know why?
I personally haven't seen asterisks in the software, but I assume it would signify encryption or partial encryption

We only sell the 820S. The only Remtronix SMA antenna we sell is the o-ring.

Yes, when we delete things in Sentinel, it is to help pinpoint and only get what you specifically want to monitor.

What is a "trunk system?"
Kind of like think of a tree. Many branches going all into one huge tree. So, many frequencies and going into one system.
Close call only works within 30-50 feet. Almost useless.
The range Close Call works at depends on the strength of the signal

Heads up, the 64GBs do not have FAT32 as an option; therefore, we have a GUIformat software to remedy this problem.
