Lee Petty is a stock car racing legend. He worked hard at becoming a professional race car owner and driver in the early years. If there was a NASCAR Grand National race, Lee Petty was in it. More often than not he finished well in most races he entered. Winning multiple Grand National Championships, Lee built Petty Enterprises into one of the premier racing organizations anywhere. All the while he kept his focus on building a winning racing family business. Second to none and better than most, Lee Petty was a Champion Hall of Fame driver and team owner because he was a racer who built a racing business. Thanks for this content. Looking for more about “The Boss.”
Another Home Run for The Petty boy's!! It's near impossible for this old fan of The Petty's to try to describe the delightful feeling i get from watching your videos & listening you boy's share some family stories with all of us! Delightful just doesn't seem to cover it 🤷🏻♂️ I've alway's thought your grandfather Lee must of been so VERY PROUD when he sat on his porch & looked around at what he had built from the ground up, very proud indeed & rightfully so! I remember your Uncle Richard saying that as far as Lee Petty was concerned every race Richard Petty had won was simply a continuation of what Lee had done & that's been the way I've looked at it too since hearing Richard say that. I alway's chuckle to myself everytime i recall Robin Pemberton telling of how he was working hard on the Daytona car for The upcoming 500 when Lee came in and grabbed him to go work on his lawn mower! 😂 As for the drafting at Daytona thing, the media 🤦 alway's said, for the first 50yrs of my life, that Lee/Richard had discovered "The DRAFT" during practice for The 500, but over the last decade the media 🤦 has changed their story to giving the credit to Junior Johnson, so I'm like well which is it Media, were you lying to us then, or are you lying to us now?? LOL! Anyway, I'm sticking with The Petty's on that one 😉 👍 as for a topic for a future episode, i would love to hear the real story of the Petty/Allison crew dust up after a 1972 race that basically put a stop to the on-track bashin - crashin that had been going on during that 72 season, almost since Daytona. Truth is I'm gonna watch every episode no matter the topic, if you film it, Petty Nation will come & watch it!! Thanks again!!
So in 96 my wife and I went to the museum from Buffalo NY. When we pulled up who do we see in the front yard..Lee with a big sun hat chipping golf balls. As we pull in who is leaving the driveway in a station wagon... your Grandmother.. At lunch we headed to Frank and Larry's and who walks in but Lee and who I assumed at the time was you guys. My wife asked if I was going to ask Lee for an autograph but I felt that I was in his regular place and would have been out of line to do so. I remember him smiling through the whole lunch....
Anything you guys put out is so interesting. It's a must see, it gives you a whole other side of the Petty family and one that deserves to be known. Thank you for doing this, your Daddy deserves it
Yes I agree with you! As a lifelong racing fan, I know it isn’t just the driver that makes the wins. It is a great group of people, often behind the scenes who may not get the recognition. For me being lifelong Richard Petty fan, I’ve always admired the Petty family as whole. What we get here is, an excellent look at the Petty family
Love it. I’ll do a interview about Timmy when I was on the truck team. We had a dang good time. Timmy brought a smile to my face everyday I seen him either at the shop, track or in a motel room and him throwing the tv remote out the window because he wanted to watch South Park and I kept changing the channel. Lol😂
Always look forward to your next vidio, as have always been a huge petty fan.In 1966 I was stationed in Dover Deleware , one weekend was going to richmond va and not far from DC we meet a blue dodge box truck with a open trailer hauling the # 43
I love hearing about your Grandfather Leeboy and orgins about it. I love that funny story of his about how Lee got a new car after getting T boned after crossing six lanes of traffic. I'm really enjoying this and looking forward to more about your family and other guests that have been with the PETTY's
Great stuff. More of just hearing your personal recollections is what i tune in for. Maybe somebody key in the shop during the heyday, every nw & then. About "LeeBoy" sneaking around,i read that Buddy Baker, upon his arrival at PE,was pranked & told that Lee was mostly deaf. Lee got on Buddy about something & Buddy muttered something smart under his breath. He found out (the hard way, lol) Lee COULD hear. PS...Love the cool '61 Plymouth model car on the table.
Love hearing your stories about Lee Boy he told me outside one day when he walked up that he had bought a New Kobuto lawn mower and he had given his old one to one of you Boys he said he wished he had the old one back because he liked it better then he said you know what I mean Partner
Another great episode, as always! Looking forward to hearing more of them. Can’t wait for the next episode. As much as I enjoy your hearing about your Dad, Grandfather, and Richard, I also enjoy hearing stories about the rest of your family too
Love the channels guys. Can you do an episode on how the petty blue song came to be? Was Charles alexander a friend of the family? The history would be appreciated 👍
❤I love seeing these podcasts. I have the best memories living up there in the haunted house. Mark you know what I am talking about. I am coming to see you all one Saturday.
Love the content, but you could use a little better sound. When you guys speak, I have to keep turning down or up the volume, then when one of you other brothers speaks I have to change the volume again. Just a suggestion, but I will keep watching your show, Love It!!!
I really enjoy hearing the Petty history. I wish all would get Kyle or Richard on the show.
Hopefully one day! They’ve been invited
Absolutely. Love these stories. Need to get uncle Richard and cousin Dale❤️❤️
Thanks for watching Amy!
