Larry Pollard is one of a handful of drivers who miraculously survived a basilar skull fracture. His wreck at Dover, Mike Alexander's crash in the Snowball Derby, and Stanley Smith in the same 1993 Talladega melee that caught up Ritchie - are three that come to mind. There may be a few more, but not many survive such an awful injury.
Freeman Treadway from Altavista, VA was around in the 1960's - part of the 1967 wining season.

Success at any level of competition requires good people who can and will perform their jobs at a very high level. Obviously the Petty’s made it a point to surround themselves and their organization with very good people. The legacy of seven NASCAR Cup Championships stands as a testament to the people who have made up Petty Enterprises through the years.

Barry Dodsons brother Bruce was my first boss when I went to work in the shop at UPS. He would tell me stories about working at Petty. He is a good fellow!
Showing my age but I remember a bunch of those great people! I remember in 1986 when The King came back to Level Cross I think Ken Squier said , " The Palace Guard " is back together again 🏁
Another name: Raymond Kelly who was crew chief for Kyle his first couple of years. Also worked with Bruce Hill and later with Bob Rogers' team and Larry McReynolds with drivers including Mike Alexander and Tim Richmond.

Was that Hershall McGriff driving an STP painted Charger? I remember the purple and gold 04 from the Daytona program book. Man that was a Great looking car with the chrome wheels!
Maurice found a Franklin quick change for me in 70 so me and Joe Childress could finish my dirt track car a 57 Crown Vic, didn't finish it before I went to Nam. SEMPER FORTIS
