I'm old, I'm a musician, I've seen it all, so Ren's catalogue is substantially is as important as any great artist I've ever heard, and all while being chronically ill, which is astounding.

Old musician here, too--since the 1960's. And I agree with you 100%!! Ren is and will prove to be at the top of the greatest artists list. There's a reason why he's got fellow Welshman Dylan Thomas' poetry tattooed on his back. 😂 I wouldn't doubt that Ren's works will be required reading/viewing in future high schools...

Tale of Jenny and Screech videos were released in 2019. In Violet's Tale, Ren's lyric references 2-0-0-5. Basically this is 14 years earlier. Jenny and Screech are 14 years old. It should be noted also that Ren put out Violet's Tale over 2 years after the original 2 stories.

Welcome to the rabbit hole. Most people start with Hi Ren and it's worth the watch. One suggestion. In most cases talking (even just a quick comment) is fine, with Ren you can miss a whole bunch. He says a lot and some of the best lines are right when people comment because of the previous thing he just said. Trust me, the left (5 second back) arrow is your friend. More Ren please.

I found ren last year and he quickly, really quickly, became my all time favorite artist. Don't try to put him in a box because he will defy any genre you try to put him in. Enjoy your adventure down the Ren rabbit hole ❤

In this trilogy, does anyone else notice that Jenny and Screech were placed side by side at birth and they died on the same day side by side, one street away?
There are so many Easter eggs or clever writing.
It took me a while to realize, the numbers fit perfectly through the story:
First we learn that screech is 14 years old (and so is Jenny) as we accompany them through this dramatic night.
When we spin back the time in violets tale, we have the year 2 - 0 - 0 - 5.
So when the twins were born in 2005, and died with 14 years, it has to be 2019 - the year that the songs came out.
Such a brilliant writing.
And I love that that screechs tale starts with "our story starts right at the end" end ends with "our story it ends, right at the start"
You could name so many more, that's why every new reaction is special and every listen is different.
Yes for sure I realised that, it's a particular scene that Ren points out, twins aligned side by side/ two bodies lifeless one street apart.
The dates were less clear to me until someone commented when Violet's Tale was released. So creative, poetic, imaginative and intelligent writing.

Yes, although I didn't work it all out from the first listen. I give myself shivers when I wonder if Jenny's 'intuition' was some sort of 'twin sense' and partly froze due to recognising the familiarity of who Screech was, in her final moments.
Have you seen Ren's "Screech's tale Instagram story"? He films like a fly on the wall of Screech in the days and moments building up to Jenny's tale. It was done as a promo but feels so authentic you have to remind yourself it's not real.

Yes and he also points out that it was just the street that parted them. When he sings "just one street apart" in Screeches Tale at first I only thought about the actual scene. But I think this is a double meaning for the street that parted them at birth.
And multiple little things like this only become apperant after you listened to the songs a lot of times! Even just little lines mean so much more then you think at first.
Ren's genre is "WOW, I didn't expect THAT!"

First time watching this, my pulse spiked at the end and I got a hot rush. The thing is, the same thing happened when I watched Hi Ren and didn’t think it could happen back to back. Then it happened again when I watched Sick Boi, The Hunger, Wicked Ways, Money Game Part 3, Seven Sins, Down On The Beat.
This is the most addictive artist ever.

I heard Rilla say that he's "heard" his rap, rock, etc. So, its sort of suspicious that he's stating he hasn't listened to Ren's music and maybe that's part of it. IDK...for me, I've followed 100s of Reactors that get on the Ren train, and they fizzle out quickly (for various reasons). WTBS I will watch, and probably "like" the videos they post and when I'm satisfied that I won't mind having they're thumbnails in my feed of suggestions per the "all mighty algorithm"...I will choose to sub or not at that point. I am my own gatekeeper LOL!

Such a truthful telling of Generational violence, Violet dies , the Prick Stevie goes to prison, the babies go into the system and are separated . the Jenny is quiet like her mom, Screech is chaotic and rage filled like his dad . First time I saw this I could hardly breathe,the language is that of an abuser , the violence and tragedy so palpable. It’s a brilliant work of theater. Ren has so many sides of his work. There is lighthearted songs ,mostly from his younger days and with other artists. The Big Push are a great band from his mid twenties . Loads to choose from, but if you want to pursue his theatrical style, “Hi Ren “ then - “Sick Boi” His “Money games “ Trilogy is great music lyrics and ends with a great theater. Also pay attention by how old he was , his evolution is interesting “ I Love Music” trilogy shows that quite well

I loved how you picked up on most of what Ren was saying. Generational abuse. Even though Jenny and Screech didn't grow up with Violet and Stevie, the abuse was there when they were in the womb and became part of their DNA. Screech was like Stevie and Jenny was quiet like Violet. We don't know a lot about Jenny besides she was 14, wore high heel shoes, had rosy cheeks and had walked those streets a thousand times before. Ren did a whole promo thing before Screech's Tale came out where Screech had stolen Ren's phone and taken over Ren's Instagram account. It gave a glimpse into Screech's life.

It's really true. If you react to a Ren song, it's not always like a regular song with verses & a chorus. So speaking over even one or two words can leave you lost. At least on Ren videos, I suggest pausing before you speak. Also, to make sure you've not missed anything when you paused, rewind a few seconds before restarting the video. I know it sounds like overkill but, as lost as you found yourselves watching the trilogy today, it should definitely help you see how much this helps.
My other suggestion is to turn off the closed captions. They are often wrong, & they make you check out the lines before they're being sung. And when it's a really important part, you can be jumping ahead and losing the story again. If you don't catch some words, pause the song. Then, because Ren puts all the lyrics in the description box of the videos, you can easily check there. You'll also learn that Ren enunciates his words quite well as he sings so he is pretty clear to understand.

I would check out Money Ties and Bittersweet Symphony Live version soon. He's an amazing lyricist. Ren, 34 now, went undiagnosed (and misdiagnosed) from Lyme Disease from 19-26. It ravaged his body and spirit as he suffered all those years. A stem cell transplant helped a lot, but he still struggles with his health to this day. He has helped millions of people with his honest, meaningful and often cheeky lyrics. ❤️

I was as gripped by your reaction as I was when I first saw this. This is what I obsessively try to recapture when I watch dozens of Ren reactions per day! You guys KILLED it.
Yes! You should absolutely go down this rabbit hole. You’re gonna get hundreds of suggestions - his catalogue is ginormous. Plus he was in 2 bands prior called Trick the Fox and then The Big Push. His story is so riveting and painful (he does an 8 chapter video series on his life that’s so interesting).
He’s self taught on all instruments and vocals, he produces 90% of his own tracks, writes such incredible lyrics that will have you on the floor crying or laughing or bopping. He’s a once in a century musician and a stand up dude.
I’ll resist my normal deluge of suggestions because, in my experience, all you have to to is close your eyes and click on any Ren video and you’ll have a masterpiece. Just know there are a few songs that you’ll need background for to enjoy them the most: Kujo Beatdown is the main one that you should research before listening to. When you do want to watch that one, make sure you’ve already seen Hi Ren, Sick Boi, Dumb King Come (less important) and his 30 min video explaining the conflict with Kujo Beats legal snag.

I always want more REN. Most artists just don’t seem to measure up since I entered the Reniverse. But I wouldn’t change a thing. REN is a once in a lifetime phenomenon. He plays multiple instruments, beat boxes, rap, sings…even does reggae. Limitless talent. Most songs done live! Then just an amazing human that has put his most troubled thoughts and acts in songs so people in similar situations know they aren’t alone.
So much relation with him. He’s great and continues to amaze everyone!

Ren avidly supports the reaction community and thanks them all the time! No need for filters or pauses. Being independent, he looks at it as though if you're promoting his art you SHOULD get paid for your time and energy.
He did a collaboration with Chris Webby called Baggage and he announced quite proudly on patreon that he'd convinced Chris to do the same, though I'm unsure if that was just for their collab or Chris's music in general. If you go down the rabbit hole you'll find Ren is a rare breed.

Loved your reaction! Of course you should go down the rabbit hole!! I found this a very difficult first listen but the more I heard it the more I appreciated it. Ren is shedding a light on topics that are too often hidden - here, the cycle of generational abuse as well as the failures of the foster system. Jenny, like her mother Violet, and her grandmother, is silent. Ren is a phenomenal artist - you’ll see! X

Ren is a modern day bard painting such vivid imagery with his storytelling that it pulls you in and forces you to keep watching - even when it gets physically uncomfortable during Violet’s Tale. And Ren uses this ability to shed light on far too real issues in the world. Ren is special. And you should definitely check out more. Probably best to do Hi Ren next as it’s a great starting point for getting to know the multitalented genius 🐰🕳️

Jenny's tale was inspired by a news story Ren saw about a 14 year old boy who stabbed a lady. All that was said was, "its such a shame," with no discussion.
It is important social commentary.
We are too desensitized and apathetic about these social issues and need to do a better job protecting vulnerable people, dealing with domestic violence with better laws & harsher sentences, and especially protecting the children caught in the middle of all this generational violence.
Perhaps a fun rap one next?
Power is an early one, but still one of my all time faves. Great song. Did I mention Ren doesn't just write his own songs and play instruments (plural), he makes his own beats?

The best thing to do is go back and listen to it again: so both jenny and screech were 14, and likely grew up in the system/on the streets. So why was Jenny at 14 "walking streets shed walked a thousand times before " in high heels and rosy cheeks?
Its about the cycle of violence, trauma, and poverty. Its a masterpiece that heartbreaking every time.

Ren dubbed this style "BardCore", just one of the many genres of music he can tip his hat to. Recently he's been filming "Vincent's Tale", a multi part piece based on Van Gogh in a similar style which is hopefully dropping in the near future. My word I just started this journey~~Now rabbit hole🫣~~in November 2024 and now I’ve consumed AT LEAST 100 videos of course firstly on Rens channel (please give Chinchillas Tube Of You channel some love too!!) and then reactor after reactor 🙌. Definitely do Hi Ren then Sick Boi to get a better idea of his background story ~ whew 😪 man it’s a hard one. Unfortunately I know this life well too and it is absolutely NOT for the fainthearted. Next I’d check out Chinchilla and Ren with Chalk Outlines for both of their vocals. The Big Push back on 74/message in a bottle is great for an upbeat tune and again his vocals. Man then I’d do either the money game trilogy or even Seven Sins, The Hunger, Animal Flow for some hardcore bars. Okay I’ll stop now 😂 but you get the picture 😉.

I love Ren, full stop. He is prolific, so be warned, the rabbit hole is deep. I love Power, his duets with Chinchilla (another force, so look out), Chalk Outlines and How to Be Me. Losing It is pure fun. Bittersweet Symphony is beautiful.
And don't forget his work with his band, the Big Push. I love the I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop medley, but you MUST see the version where Ren is wearing red suspenders - it is transcendent.

Subscribed because I know what’s about to happen. Your mind is gonna combust and this channel will grow. This man’s catalog is vast and top notch! May I please offer a bit of advice? I’m an old lady and found it difficult to hear parts of the song. You guys were fine but the song itself was hard to hear. Maybe it’s just old lady ears…😂. Another suggestion, if you pause, rewind a little when you start back up so you hear the full effect. All of REN’s lyrics are impressive to say the least. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 Enjoyed watching you both! Remember all three of these tales are live one takes. He does that quite a bit and that in itself is super exciting
Yeah, originally, I’ve been told all about copyright, so was told to reduce the song background sound. BUT we now learned that we can have the sound louder, so noted. And the pause thing we have learned here and have taken that into our next recordings ☺️☺️

In the U.S., we use "Jane Doe" and "John Doe" in the system for people with no names. In the U.K., apparently they use "Jenny" and "James" (Screech's name). So we assume the twins were split up and put into the system since their mom's dead, their father a killer, and abusive grandparents. When you re-watch this and realize that Jenny was also 14 years old and had "walked the street 1,000 times before... in high heeled shoes...", you'll see the extra tragedy of her story. There's a speculated back story that Screech's friend Patrick didn't answer his door and Screech's girlfriend was "busy" is because she was busy with Patrick.
