Well done to the owners, they could have opened just another burger joint anywhere, but they decided to set up in their own area and do something unique and create a quality product! 👍Never tried a Yak burger before, but from what you've shown Samantha, it looks pretty appetising and the location is stunning... beats any drive through i've got near me! PS I enjoyed your trek overlooking Attabad Lake, looking forward to seeing more off-beat wanderings. Also it's the middle of winter, what are you doing way up north, I would be in Karachi enjoying the warmer weather☀😄

The closest thing to these yak burgers are probably the American buffalo burgers here in California. I love hamburgers, but what you are eating sounds like as good as it can get. And you mentioned you had to drive or travel for two hours to get to this burger joint. It’ll be a lot longer for me, but it will be worth if I’m in the northern part of Pakistan. As someone who hasn’t traveled extensively in Pakistan, I would like you to help me understand how easy or difficult it will be to get to Hunza valley from Islamabad? I have this scary images of treacherous, one lane unpaved dirt roads with thousands of feet of drop off the mountains. Is there a safe way to get to Hunza from Islamabad?

I was backpacking in Pakistan August/September last year. Stayed at the Sky Bridge Inn in Gircha, Hunza Valley. Befriended a yak in the courtyard that was going to be slaughtered the next morning. Next morning sure he was hanging, skinned and cut into massive pieces which I saw in the distance at a close by shop through my upstairs window. I was even invited to witness the slaughtering if I wanted to early the morning but declined. This experience partially put me off from trying yak meat. Earlier the previous day I also saw in the distance a few yak on the Karakoram Highway. Watching this video makes me regret not trying yak meat.

Thanks so much for watching and I'm glad you have experienced Hunza! I totally can see how that might have put you off, what an experience that must have been. I've seen it happen once and it was shocking. But yes, the meat is really fantastic especially if you like steak! If you ever come back, it's deff worth a try 😁

Onions don't show themselves on the top, they are with the Roots buried in the ground. You have to dig out the entire plant to harvest them.

Pakistani food and especially the food in GB is so much healthier than American food because everything is pretty fresh. The amount of chemicals and preservatives put in American meat alone is horrifying!
