I am losing my voice due to a neurological condition, so I'm learning to sign. Your videos are so helpful, and are giving me the confidence to carry on communicating, albeit in a different way. Thanks so much for putting this resource out there.
I was told I'd need to learn makaton in my job as a support worker for adults with learning disabilities but rarely use it, so decided to learn BSL as I enjoy signing. Your videos are brilliant, so clear and explanatory. Thank you
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your videos. They are all clear, well thought out and understanding of our needs learning. I am 63. At school I was told I was stupid and always put to the back of the class. When I left school I went to join the Navy, There they found I had a congenital hearing problem - I can’t hear high tones, I miss the high tones in people’s voices etc. So I was not “thick” at school - I just could not hear the teacher. Luckilly the Navy was desperate for people to do my job and so they wrote to the admiralty for dispensation and they gave it as I would not be working with sonar, radar etc. But I always wanted to learn BSL but never had the chance. I wear two hearing aids and feel embarrassed when I can not sign anything to people who are totally deaf or also have hearing problems. But also because of my difficulties, I feel not having the chance to learn BSL has been depriving me of part of who I should be ans what I should be able to do. When I found your videos, they are so clear and helpful, I practice believe it or not, with one of the staff at a veterans day centre I attend, who can sign a little, So it is good, Each week watching your videos. And it is funny. Others are looking at us and we will suddenly start laughing. They think we have told a funny joke - but it is mostly because we misunderstood something one of us has said. So thank you, thank yourm thank you for finally giving me the chance to learn BSL!
Another great video.. Your videos are a great help in the last 6 months my vocabulary as gone from just a couple of hundred words and phrases to almost 2000.. such a great help in these days when money is tight and I can't afford to pay for classes.. Thanks again Dan.
Thanks Dan for all the new content. Love the 100 signs series gives a broad spectrum of vocabulary for repetitive learners like myself . Shorter clips have been brilliant for fine tuning signing , expanding vocabulary and understanding sentence structure. Love the format you use really clear to follow .
Dan your video's are amazing. I previously purchased courses to learn BSL and gave up due to the complex / speed that they signed and expected you to learn. I love the ways that you show signs from different angles and repeat the signs within the videos. Thank you.. Steve
Thank you so much for these videos. I work for a large supermarket & don't get a lot of free time & some of our customers use BSL so it's awesome to be able to learn how to communicate better with people. Thank you!
WOW. From your videos . I can now "in brackets" . (Have a very basic understanding conversation) with my Deaf Friend , without using any (SOUND). My new target in life is to do this for a living within 3 Years.
Hi Dan. You break everything down so it is simple to understand which makes remembering and practicing so much easier. You have really helped with my receptive skills as well so a huge thank you for all of your videos. Loving the longer videos and the opposites 😁
🖐on another of your video you made you have used the full palm for 'stop' and this one is like a beak pecking for 'stop', and the other one i noticed is using the thumb into the palm for 'hard' and this one you use a fist. When there are more than one way for a word please keep using both in your videos as it gets confusing when i have learnt some signs only for them to change. 👍👍Thank you for making as these are great with lots of variety.
Very very good. Though I am doing level 2; nevertheless it is great to watch your videos and learn how to be precise and clear in signing. Thank you so much x
Hi Dan. Excellent teaching skills and very clear. I am a driving instructor teaching my 1st deaf pupil. Any way you can produce a tutorial on basis driving skills.. Clutch accelerate etc?
I’ve noticed that the hand with just the pinky finger sticking out is often used for words with negative connotations, like ugly, dirty, worse, fail etc. Is there a similar pattern with any other hand “positions”?
Good observation, the little finger extended is associated with a lot of negative signs. The thumbs up handshape is often used for signs with a positive meaning. Some handshapes are representative of shapes, for example a fist will often be used to describe anything spherical like a ball. Thanks for watching.
he uses his dominant hand to sign. So if you are also right handed, the signs mainly use the right hand (rotate yourself round to where he is and then do the same sign - his right hand does the same sign as your right hand), if you are left handed then you mirror him (his right hand is your left). Sorry, may not describe it in the easiest way but hope it makes sense.

This has been so helpful, especially as a self learner
Excellent Dan. You are such a good teacher. Thank you.
I really love these long videos so I can just watch while I eat my lunch. It's great to see signs that aren't just the standard beginner material.

Your videos are brilliant - the best ones for learning as you show hand movements from different angles and repeat the sign. Excellent teaching!
These videos are fab, feel like I've learned so much really quickly.
Thank you Dan. I've got unexplained hearing loss and your videos help so much 👍

Hi Dan.
Excellent teaching skills and very clear.

Clutch accelerate etc?
There's an online dictionary for bsl where you can search a word to see a video of the sign for it, if that helps...
@WW1 that helps but it's a case of finger spelling some driving terms.
Thanks anyway
Hi guys - loving your videos. Do you do one for swimming?
the time stamp is good for finding words
Brilliant ❤

Thanks, Dan great video.
Personally prefer the shorter ones of 10 or so but this was very useful.
Also ban is a great word for forbid

Isn’t what you sign “poor” (around 35:05-35:40) meaning brown?
What about one index finger slide down from wrist to elbow? A bit confused. Thank you.
