I had Galloway Precision mill my SR-9 slide for a Holosun RD and it’s now my EDC pistol! Can’t say enough good things about your company as it was handled incredibly well from order to final delivery!
Do they remove the loaded chamber indicator and/or magazine disconnect safety to mill the slide?
@@chrisrogers438 no changes made to either, works flawlessly just as before
Honestly surprised that more views haven't happened here... oh yeah. Glock boys are a plenty. Ruger men, not so much. Good info and delivery of instructions.
Glad you made this video. I have 2 SR series pistols. I have the original (?) design on one. Site posts on it. I was going to order another, because I'm so pleased with the first, and noticed it was redesigned. I like the redesign much better. Going to order now before they're gone. 👍👍👍
Update: Ordered 👍👍
Thanks i needed this i wasn’t sure if my sights drifted off or screwed on
Installed my plate this evening and cannot get niether of my new red dots to elevate down into the viewing window. I have to move the barrel of the gun way down for it to appear. I've noticed when I slide my plate into the slot on the pistol there is a gap between Plate and gun before I even tighten the set screw down. Tried them both on my Max 9 and dot is where it needs to be.
The plate is designed not to sit on the slide except for the dovetail and that can very depending on the tolerance of the dovetail on your particular slide. The Optic Plate is not made to co-witness with the front sight. It can't due to the plate and the elevation created by the optic itself.
So there are no issues in not having the recoil lugs to keep the optic from coming loose ?
The studs on our plates are just locating studs and not recoil lugs. As long as the plate and optic are installed properly with Loctite you will have no issues.
Is this a one size fits all SR series optic mount because it shows it on a 45 and gives only color options, not collabor options?
The SR9, SR9c, SR40, SR40c, and SR45 all have the same rear sight dovetail and our one Optic Mount Plate will fit any of these versions.
Any video or info on removing the factory rear sight? Or do you just hold it tight in a vice and tap it out with a brass punch?
Yes that will work, remove the set screw and tap it out. Unless you have a multi-slide sight pusher handy.
I still can’t get the original site out!!
You should be driving the sight out from left to right. If you can not tap it out in that direction, you may need a sight pusher or find a local gunsmith to push that out for you.
Hi
Where can I find the mount plate? I will appreciate if you guide me
what is a good optic for this mount ?
You have the choice to mount either a JPoint, Shield RMSc, Shield SMSc, Shield RMS2, Romeo X (SORX1200 only), Vortex Viper, Vortex Venom, Vortex Defender CCW, ADE RD3-003, ADE RD3-006A, ADE RD3-006B, ADE RD3-009, ADE RD3-009-2, ADE RD3-018 Spike, Holosun 507K, Holosun 407K, Romeo Zero, Docter/Noblex Sight C, Docter/Noblex sight 2+, Docter/Noblex sight III, Docter/Noblex QUICKsight 5.0 VR, Noblex Sight G, Burris Fastfire C, Burris Fastfire 2, Burris Fastfire 3, Delta Optical MiniDot, Delta Optical MiniDot II, Hawke Reflex 1×25, Sightmark Mini Shot Pro Spec, Sightmark Mini Shot M-Spec, Leica Tempus, MAKdot 1×25, Vector Optics SCRD-19II Frenzy 1x17x24, Creative XP GlassEagle HD, Riton MPR D2, Riton 3 Tactix MPRD, Swampfox Sentinal, HEX Dragonfly, HEX Wasp, Crimson Trace CT RAD Pro, Crimson Trace CTS-1550, Crimson Trace CTS-1250, Cyelee CALF V2, Cyelee CAT PRO, or Vomz Pilad 1×20.
*** The JPoint, Shield RMSc, Shield SMSc, Shield RMS2, Burris Fastfire C, Romeo Zero, Romeo X (SORX1200 only), Vortex Defender CCW, Holosun 507K, Holosun 407K, Sightmark Mini, Riton MPR D2, Riton 3 Tactix MPRD, Swampfox Sentinal, HEX Wasp, Cyelee CAT PRO, Crimson Trace CTS-1550, and ADE RD3-018 Spike mount using the rear set of mounting holes and do not use the locating pins at the front of the plate. ***
How do I get the our insight off of my sr40c?
If I understand correctly you are wanting to remove the rear factory sight. Depending on how the factory cut it, after removing the set screw it could just slide out or may need a sight pusher.
Sr9c owner here and the optics plate blocks my breach indicator from rising
The front of the optic plate ends before the pivot of the loaded chamber indicator and can not block it from rising. If you are referring to something else, please contact us through our website for additional assistance. Thanks.
question my ade dove mount slides in loose and wiggles, It rises up when i screw in the small
screws to lock the plate i spoke to ADE they said ruger change up some of the slides what can i do to fix this
I just installed mine today and have the same problem. did you get a solution for this?
Yes I spoke to somebody at the company and they gave me a part to put on a rubber Mount that goes up under it
What is the name of the sight
Are the plates different from the sr40 and sr40c
No, the one plate will fit both the SR40 and SR40c.
This will work on the 9E as well???
Unfortunately the 9E has a different rear sight cut and this will not fit.
Where did you get the plate
The Galloway Precision website. Just type in both words together and add a .com after it. Not being smart, just can't post a link due to TH-cam's policy on firearms.
How do yo remove the back plate
It would be even more helpful if you showed how to get the old rear site off
Sorry we didn't cover that. There are no screws or pins retaining the rear sight. It will need to be tapped out from left to right and in reverse order if reinstalling the sight.
Anyone getting one of these you really need to pay attention about what he says about the set screw and if it's too tight.
I honestly did have mine too tight compared to how I tighten other screws and mine had the small gap and I hardly had it tightened so just barely snug it ones it touches the slide.
My wife has her second sr40. We tried, Glock 20, the public defender, and the g 29. But we came back to the Ruger Sr40.
Is there a way to have you mill the slide, then center the plate and add a little drilled out dimple so that one of the screws will go in there and allow zero movement of the plate?
Is it common when you push these on to have a small amount of the finish and then a super small amount literally like the thickness of gold leaf maybe just a small amount thicker to be sliced off be the factory dove tail?
Did mine last night on my 40c and the dot will be here tomorrow.
But I stuck tru glow tritium on both fronts on my 40c and 9c and the 40 was easier by a mile to get them on.
My 40 is just like this one but I couldn't beat mine on as easy,I hammered it on about 30 percent then used a pusher to get it exact but when doing the fronts I got the 40 front on with minimal filing of the bottom but the 9c was a different story.
Actually ruined the 1st front for the 9c because it wanted to tilt about 40 percent of the way in and then cut a channel into the edge and after that was impossible to get to go on straight.
So I ordered another and it was nothing but trouble and I had to get out the dremel and take a whole lot off the bottom.
The tru glow aren't nearly as sharp and pointy as the factory and I finally got it in and it's tight but not as tight as the 40c front.
I can't take it out with my hand or anything but it also wanted to tilt and I had to take so much off that I could slide it in about 20 percent of the way with no tools and then it's still wanted to be a pain.
I've got the rears also but won't need it for the 40 unless I'm not a fan of a dot on a compact but I'm dreading doing the rear on the 9c.
I know I could pay to have it done but I purchased over $100 in sights tools and I will learn one way or another.
Got then tru flows for my American compact also and hate to even try the tru glows on it.
Also my American compact 9 and both 40c and 9c all have your smooth it kit and I have the trigger bad that I need to also put in soon.
My American compact 9 is a dream to shoot after your upgrades.
Unfortunately it is pretty common because of the way the slides are cast. We try to ride the middle of the tolerances, we have 4 different SR/SRc slides we check them in, but you still come across some that it's just a nightmare to put any kind of sight or sight system on.
@@GallowayPrecision awesome, that's what I pretty much figured since these are all somewhat different I just wanted to be certain.
Thank you.
So the pop up loaded indication bar is now useless? WTF?
No, it is fully functional. The optic mount plate does not interfere with the LCI whatsoever.
If you need some kind of indicator to let you know of your gun is loaded. Then you need to not own a gun. If you don't treat every gun as if it's loaded, then you are probably one of those guys that have their finger on the trigger everytime a gun is in your hand.
Even after installing Galloway Precision parts they couldn't fix my Ruger SR45 lemon and neither did Ruger, wouldn't recommend any Ruger SR45 pistol regardless of caliber.
