    I'm trying to make a Damascus and don't have a welder!! And I you show me how to doit show me how to get creative!! ❤️ .
    I got a Arabian jambiya project and going to make it out of Damascus with carbon steel wire and carbon steel fishing hook without a tube or a welder, it's going to get really messy but I'm going to love the chaos.

    The transitions made me feel like I was having a seizure, but this video was so encouraging. It is neither practical nor financially responsible for me at the moment to obtain welding equipment and learn how to use it, and this is so reassuring to see.

    Side note, I don't know if you knew this but another practice is to forge weld your bottom piece to a handle so you can of course manipulate the billet more easily when you work it out. You just forge weld the handle to a couple of sacrificial inches before the stack will start.

    Very nice, Bob! Last time I tried that I used stainless wire and it worked really well. The stainless pretty much won’t weld to the billet and holds up really well to the heat.

      They have spools of it at my local ace hardware by where they have chain and rope and whatnot.

    Instead of tie wire you can use stainless steel hose clamps, works great

    So what you're REALLY saying is that I'm getting called out for using a welder. But seriously wire tying is (at least to me) a pretty well known method. I was GONNA be wire wrapping mine but I lucked into that little flux core for $100.

      thanks Ken. its 40 mule team borax, its used as flux when forge welding. it keeps the steel from forming scale so it will weld together.

      and Damascus is used a lot in knife, but it can be used to make anything it just a better looking steel when you mix them and manipulate the patterns.
