    We recently got full FTTP from Fibrus with speeds of 100 up & down. Absolute game-changer after our previous best speeds of 7/1 from BT. It wouldn't be the most reliable setup in the world though

    I sent my router to Router-Mods Wednesday, it was back with me Saturday, all working and with vastly improved 5G service. Really pleased, thanks for the video.

    Neat solution and informative video. I ran for a couple of years with 3 sim, and MikroTik SXT LTE6 - an all in one box and antenna you can mount externally. Worked very well, although limited to 100mb LAN port. impressed you got over 100mb, so your box must have gigabit ethernet on board.

    • @TechMindsOfficial
      @TechMindsOfficial  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep, that’s correct, gigabit Ethernet. My signal strength is only 3 out of 5, so I guess with a full strength I could get better. Just need to wait for local mast work to finish so I can really test the speed. As long as the upload is 20+, then I’m happy. Latency too high for gaming, well, my style of gaming, so I use the home internet for that. This is just for my YT uploads.. sorry, I waffled on a bit there lol

    Eastern Missouri, USA here. We get 11 down when things are going right, 6-7 down on average. We might see 1 meg up on a good day. All this speed costs us nearly a hundred dollars per month. The cell system here is too dicey to rely on for work and I don't want Starlink. Things work well enough. Surprisingly, we can stream 4K. Maybe someday we'll get high speed; or I'll die first. The latter seems more likely.

      I know that Osage Valley Electric Cooperative is rolling out fiber to its members in "Bates, Cass and Henry counties and in a portion of Vernon, St. Clair, Johnson and Benton counties"
      If you're on an REC but not that one, point them to Osage Valley Coop and beat on their heads to do the same thing.

    I have an Teltonika RUTX11 modem (dual sim) and a pointing MIMO-3-15 omnidirectional antenna om my RV which gives a download of 110 MB/s and upload of 85 MB/s, of course depending where you are. I used the Teltonika router for a while at home as well. Very success full system.

    Vodafone coverage checker says I’m not in a 5G area, however there’s 1 spot in my house where I get 5G. Bought a 5G router from Amazon and an unlimited sim and getting 300-450 down and 150up . Cancelled my BT fibre which was 60 down and 20 up!

    • @Randrew
      @Randrew ปีที่แล้ว

      If there's one spot *in* your house with 5G, there's an even better spot on the new pole you're going to put up next to your house with a honkin' big 4x4 MIMO panel antenna you're gonna buy and hook to your newer 4x4 MIMO capable router ;)

  • @BrianG61UK
    @BrianG61UK ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Why are the two antenna fixed close to each other? (Just asking, don't know the theory well enough to say if that's the right or the wrong approach.)
    Also how important is it to choose a good cable to connect the antennas? Is satellite dish grade coax good enough?

    • @Randrew
      @Randrew ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm also ignorant of the theory, but I know that 5G home service tinkerers like my brother often wind up with a single, big 4x4 MIMO panel up on a mast. I keep getting hung up on the idea that MIMO is about diversity (ie. accommodating multiple signal paths) but apparently some routers will simply link and aggregate more channels with more antennas. Don't take that as whole truth from me, though.

    • @strial02
      @strial02 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's for MIMO multiple in multiple out, you need 45deg polarisation relative antenna position in order to limit interférences and optimise the speed. Look at mimo 4g 5g on internet...

    • @Randrew
      @Randrew ปีที่แล้ว

      @@strial02 Good stuff. Also, I just remembered that multiple antenna, if they can be fed at controlled relative phases, can "beam steer" to focus transmit power in a particular direction.

    • @strial02
      @strial02 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Randrew in the case of mimo antenna receive and the other transmit at the same Time you cannot make a diversity antenna with the two...

    Mikrotik SXT LTE. It’s 4G sadly but packs a a CAT6 modem. You could go for the new 5G they offer but it’s not directional. Smarty is 3 and cheaper. I pay £10 a month for unlimited.
    You not got anyone near that has FTTP and do a long WiFi link?

  • @BillyNoMates1974

    I am with EE for home broadband via 4G for £50 a month UNLIMITED. Not cheap but after 2 years I got a discount down to £24 a month !
    On average I get 90Mpbs download and 50 Mbps upload. all using the internal antennas.
    But then I only live 1000 feet from the phone mast.
    Ive been told I am one of the heaviest 4G users with an average usage of 200GB a month of data !
