I'll try the washer trick, thanks. I changed my dash so I had a gauge. Since the pump had both sending units all I had to do was change wire to other sender an gauge worked but read low I had left idiot light in from old set up so Ipulled bulb an gauge worked correctly. Is that the anomaly you refer to?
a tap ought to do it. I would hope you have the pump off if it is stuck. the wiggling around could be grooves in the block...good to check. A seal won't last if it wiggles. Also, new old stock is not a good choice anymore. find a polyurethane...measure dimensions, it shows up on internet searches.
I've got the bolt off the front of the oil pump pulley and the inner rotor and pulley are "wiggling" as one. Am I missing something? how do I get the pulley off to replace the seal? Thanks in advance for the help!
Hey BarryG, Hello! What kind Of Motor Oil fo You use On this EA82? My father use 20w-50, but I think that we can use 10w-40... I need some help with this ;)
I run 15/40 diesel rated oil in mine with lucas oil stabalizer unless your below -10C then run 10/30. I've put 150k+ on a engine with 150k on it when I bought it no problems. And I drive hard shift up at 5500 down shift at 4000 boxers love rpm and no I havn't changed the trany.
the mistake is in the cap covering the backside relief, they are all different, just eyeball what you think is needed by the old marks on where the cap threads end. I have had four engines, one is just right.. the other three were not good enough. This one trick has allowed me to keep all the pumps, the oldest is 27 years today. there is machining for these as well, recover shaft sloppiness..I may post another vid sometime.
sure thing. long live the ea82!
elbow grease is all I was missing : 0 thanks anyway and cool video!

I was wondering if you could recommend the best place to source Subaru parts, I'm looking for an oil pump for an EA82 with no luck? Thanks!

Oh and what's the tap for?
I may have capped something. I keep 16x1.5mm on hand, not sure what I was doing in the vid.
