- Leavenworth Washington is an amazing Bavarian town in Northern Washington. When you visit, you'll want to make sure to do these 5 things! We want to share things we love to do like specific restaurants, hikes, as well as where we think you should stay when you come! If you want to know what not miss while visiting Leavenworth, hang out with us for a minute. Hope you love Bavarian style cuisine and side tip, you HAVE to visit during the winter! This is like Christmas in the North Pole!

Guys I just returned from a 5 week vacation where we drove from the Midwest to Alaska. As lovers of hiking and mountains you must go to the Canadian Rockies!
Go in October for the beer and sausages!
I want to spend my Christmas there. Am all the way from Trinidad and Tobago. My wish is to spend Christmas in a place that has it all.
I grew up in Leavenworth and definitely think that The Cheesemonger's Shop is one of the absolute best shops in town!
We visited again this weekend and are always impressed by their knowledge and customer service.

Guys!! You forgot the most important part of Leavenworth - MAIFEST and the parades - with the DOGS! Especially for Kevin :D Usually around the weekend of May 14th-15th, there is a Maifest parade where all the Swiss breeds participate. There are 4 Swiss breeds: The Greater Swiss Mountain Dog, the BERNESE Mountain Dog (emphasis added), the Appenzeller, and the Entlebucher. The Bernese - aka KEVIN - is the only one with a long coat. The Bernese Mountain Dog Clubs will gather and dress up themselves and their dogs and be part of the parade! I have a great picture of friends and their Berners in the parade, but don't know how to post it for you.
It's also a great time to go white water rafting, hiking, golfing, etc., etc. Leavenworth is awesome!!
This sounds amazing! HOW did we not know of this!?!?! I love that you added the emphasis to the BERNESE! If I had a dollar for every time someone said Burmese! I mean, I did too prior to knowing, but it always cracks me up. We've thought about making a T-shirt that says "Burmese- Large snake....Bernese- Large fluffy bear dog" :)
@@DionnaJustin when people say Burmese, I tell them that Burmese are snakes and cats from Burma. Berrnese are dogs from Bern, Switzerland :D
This year will be our second trip to Leavanworth. We were there on our anniversary first week of December. It was Krampus Week and it was a nice unexpected and fun twist. Last year the things we took in and feel you should do when you visit are:
1) Travel US 2 from Seattle and stop at the Expresso Chalet
2) Eat Breakfast at the Old MIll Cafe in Plain
3) Visit Doghaus Brewery (write your name on the wall or cieling)
4) Eat at pizza at Tumwater Pizza
5) Grab a pretzel at Munchen Haus
6) Grab a drink and food at Gustavs'
7) Visit the Nutcracker Museum
8) Visit the Reindeer Farm !
9) Take in the city center winter festivities
We are returning for a second visit in a couple weeks and here are some of the things on our agenda as well as some of the things mentioned above...
Depending on the weather we may stop at some hiking, site seeing trails along the way.

Yes! Leavenworth is amazing. I’ve lived there twice and we are actually planning a trip back this coming weekend for my Leavenworth high school reunion!! So beautiful, but it’s has changed so much and is so crowded now - but still so beautiful!!!!

WE LOVE LEAVENWORTH!!!!!! We went during the pandemic and everything was takeaway, and we got the BEST pizza to bring back to camp. Love this video you two. That pretzel also looks phenom.

I’ve been subscribed to Justin’s professional channel for some time now, and it’s been extremely helpful.
My partner Ted and I have both been camping/traveling since we very young. I was a toddler for my first road trip (1963?) from SoCal to Vancouver Canada to visit family.
We’re continuing to travel via road trip both short and long term through our later years and are currently planning on shipping our rig from Galveston to Belgium next year in August for an extended trip. The initial focus being Scandinavia.
I hope you both love your adventures as much as we love ours!!!

Thanks so much for sharing!!😀 I’ve been wanting to visit Leavenworth! Looks like it’s time for the hubby & I to book a trip. Favorite places to vacay so far have been Jackson Hole WY & Whitefish MT/Glacier so Leavenworth looks like a place totally in our wheelhouse.

Wow, you guys! What a beautiful place! I know my traveling days are pretty much done, but it is so awesome to be able to travel vicariously through you because you go to fantastic places! I loved seeing Leavenworth! I've always been so drawn to the European villages and their Christmas fairs, etc. Now I am craving hot pretzels, trying new cheeses ,and petting a reindeer! Your AirBnB is totally worth the cost; you're getting experiences and memories that are priceless. You two are a totally awesome couple and just seem to be so right together! @@DionnaJustin Her laugh made me happy this morning and I hope to hear much more of it in future videos. Was stationed at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas for a year long military school & was hit by 2 tornadoes. One blew in our front door and we had damage from the flying glass in many of our furniture pieces but we were hidden in the basement. Yes, a tornado does sound like a freight train.
Ahhh! Leavenworth! One of my favorite places! We used to live about an hour and a half from there. Icicle River RV Park! Icicle Brewing. Goose Ridge Winery. Love, love Cheesemongers. And you have to go into the hat shop! Cured for great sausage. Lake Wenatchee. Sooo much to see and do!

We go to Leavenworth often but haven’t done the hiking or stay overnight. That overlook house is definitely amazing and the resort we’ve seen from the trails around it. It’s a big budget lodging.
What are your favorite things to do there when you visit?
@@DionnaJustin we love going into the different shops in the strip. We loved eating at Ludwig’s and getting their family style platters. There’s also a great breakfast restaurant called Loui’s cafe kitty corner from the hotel resort that’s amazing. We’re a foodie, can’t you tell?
Can’t wait for you to post your hike of the Enchantments. I have only gone as far as Culchuck Lake. It was AMAZING. My add would be a run or bike ride on Icicle road with the icicle river raging next to you. Love it ! Great review.

@@DionnaJustin I Did it in October so the larch trees were auburn and the snow was covering the outskirts of the lake. I think round trip it was 9.5 miles. Elevation gain 2400. One of my favorite hikes.

I've been to Leavenworth but only briefly, I NEED to visit the cheesemonger! Although I'm not sure I want my cheese to taste like a baked potato.
You HAVE to check them out....and totally try the potato cheese! It's surprising. Even if you don't get it, just trying a cheese that tastes like that is a trip!

I’ve never been there. It looks pretty. But I live in Georgia so unless I can talk my husband into an rv I probably never will. But I have been working on it. The only problem is one of our dogs gets car sick. So we don’t know how he will travel. But I would love to travel all over the place. I will keep working on my husband until we get something. We want a Class C motorhome. But like everything else. Th prices are ridiculous. So were waiting for prices to go down some. And when there is a larger selection.
So true! We are building a van and prices have definitely gone up. If you ever get one, Leavenworth should definitely be on your bucket list.
Have you gone to Helen In Georgia. It is like a little Bavarian town. They also “ do it up” for Oktoberfest and Christmas. It’s closer than Washington, so that might be an option.
