Some Tatra trucks I've seen have 8 wheel steering. Pretty right turning circle for something that size

These are really capable, AFAIK it's usually the Mercedes or MAN trucks that win these events, and that's against competition from the likes of Tatra.
How come steyr is not part of it? The entire US army runs steyr licensed trucks for a reason (the other brands lost the contract)
@@1DEADBEEF1 the 12M18 you have over there is technically not a Steyr but but a BAE Systems product.
I think Steyr trucks over here have gone defunct some 15 years ago now iirc

Not entirely same, but not that much different.
In military, they use hard joints between those machines, so it creates 3 vehicle train and they go through swams or what ever else.

I would like to see them up against a US 5 ton or a Oshkosh.
As a 5 ton owner, it wouldn't stand a chance against these. Not a fair comparison but I've got a rock buggy on 2 1/2 ton axles that'll beat them tho.

These things seem bad off roading I dont get it. Drive some huge truck through a course struggling to even make it through.
The thing is you couldn't do it in a rock bouncer. These are for getting stuff to places without roads. It's a test of materials and design. You would need to build an insane mud truck to do this course. Baja trial trucks. Even cooler.
