SCO Summit LIVE: EAM Jaishankar Delivers PM Modi’s Message on Terrorism, Climate Change in Astana
India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Thursday (July 4) attended the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Kazakhstan's Astana and delivered remarks of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in which he reiterated that priority must naturally be given to combating terrorism saying, if left unchecked, it can become a major threat to regional and global peace.
In his remarks, the Prime Minister also congratulated Iran for attending as a Member of the organization and expressed his deepest condolences for the tragic demise of President Raisi and others in the helicopter crash.
Earlier today, India's MEA S Jaishankar met China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi on the sidelines of the SEO Summit. The ministers discussed the issues regarding military movement around India-China border negatively impacting the bilateral relationship between the two countries. Jaishankar laid out India's stance regarding the same as he said that, "Respecting LAC is Essential". This time the SCO Summit is being held in Astana, Kazakhstan. One of the primary focuses of the SCO Summit is regional security.
