Saving the child would be useless, if the mother just goes back to being like that and possibly ends up starving her children
Elektra Pedersen dont think the dad would allow it. Sure he doesn't want the mom starving the child when the child isn't born yet but at that point the child will be in front of him and he can do more
pretty much yea. and there may NOT be much the dad can do. AT BEST this results in the dad suing the mom for custody and a lengthy court battle with the child in the middle. heck if she's THIS controlling and obsessive the child will pretty much GAURANTEED grow up really screwed up. i bet she wont allow he kid to play with other kids, or alienate her family from others around by blaming everyone who the kid interacts with of "poisoning her child" and leecture them about how this or that chemical is bad for everyone... there are plenty of cases like this IRL, and it rarely is that cut and dry as "dad can make sure"

Elektra Pedersen agreed if the Baby manages to live up to 5-6 years and he gets hungry he’ll be like “mom, can i have some food” and of course the mom would say “I TOLD YOU NO FOOD!”
If I was the father I would definitely be contacting the best divorce lawyer I know. When the judge is given evidence there's no way they would allow her custody. And if he files almost immediately worst case scenario it's about 5 years give or take, and I'm completely sure that with a competent lawyer he could get full custody in about half that time. He has 2 doctors who'd surely testify for him and hospital records.

It was a last resort...would you not completely freak out if some one told you your child's going to die ,the reason Dr.Manning did the talk first was to tell her in a calmer way to get the results of having/not having a C section across to her in a better manner.

My baby brother is adopted and his mother has anorexia, bulimia, depression, suicidal and a coke heroin and meth addiction. She threw herself down the stairs 3 times and overdosed twice hardly ate and my brother survived tiny and highly premature but he survived. He’s five now smallest in his class but very giddy

shes just trying to keep her baby safe from the doctors who thought thalidomide was a good idea for pregnant mothers once, remember how well that turned out? im not saying shes making the right choice here but her behavior is at least understandable, doctors dont know everything

I've seen loads of clips of Dr Manning doing illegal or unethical things. How her character is supposed to survive as a medical professional is beyond me, even if her intentions are all in the right place and even if she does have a point (that she's making badly and isn't legally supported)
Doc manning was just keeping het oath will do any thing to save my patient and she is right in her ways if people so mad like this lady act so crazy then as a doc its her responsibility to make things right in one side there are people who blame doctors for medical negligence on the other hand some people tie doctors hands in the name of legal consent

oh my god. stop being so close-minded. look at her point of view. she's scared for her baby. the only reason she doesn't want to eat/do anything is simply because she's afraid it might hurt the baby. she's stopping them from doing anything in fear for her baby. she doesn't realise the best chance of him surviving is the c-section.

Fear is sometimes unreasonable and so makes people do unreasonable things.
It's a phobia, not a reasonable thought out opinion. She's terrified pretty much literally out of her wits.
It's cases like these that make me gravely believe that everyone must have a 100% valid license for parenthood or in this case, sanity!

Yeah I feel you but that breach of trust is worth apologising for. Like this chick thinks that she is correct in her diet, thinks of herself as a normal and reasonable person. Then this doctor, a person who is meant to look after her and her unborn child, decides to use trickery and sneaking around to give her an IV medication - something going straight into her veins that she doesn't even know what it is because of the trickery - because they knew she wouldn't say yes to it... I mean I'd be pissed too. Even though the doctor is correct, why would this patient be ok with it? She thinks she's normal and right, so someone sneaking around to mislead her is clearly being dodgey and malicious. Makes sense to her logic, you know?

Heard of case last year in Australia where I live about a lady who was doing her whole pregnancy naturally so no doctors no bloods no scans. She went into labour and laboured at home for three days despite her waters breaking and having meconium in them she continued at home until the pain got so bad her partner insisted they go to the hospital by the time they got there the baby had already passed and she had to have a csection to get the baby out. It’s breaks my heart. I gave birth a few months after and to think that she should have a had a beautiful year with the life she created. Women died in birth and so did babies before medicine intervened. It’s all about being informed.

I remember being terrified that I would harm my baby by eating wrong while I was pregnant too. Not tooth’s degree of corse but it did make me more aware of what I put in my body.

People seem to be missing the part where she wasn’t this bad until she got pregnant. In all likelihood she’ll have therapy and be on of those biological only mums. Her basic worry went in to overdrive when she was worried about giving the child the perfect start, and that became an intense irrational fear. She isn’t going to starve the baby...
Her husband said that she’d always had control issues surrounding food but they got way worse when she got pregnant. Plus, you totally know she’d be anti vax

You're probably right about her being anti vax because people who already worry so much about what they can control with their baby's health are so eager to have something easy to latch onto. A needle going into your lil child? Containing things that look super scary on an ingredients list? Perfect recipe for pseudoscience to take hold and ruin a kid's future as a result.

I love the lady doctor though... She acted the best way she could. She shared her personal life experience and showed her fears and vulnerability for her child as a mom and I think that's why in the end they were able to save both.

This was me the first year of my son. My husband was in another country. I can't even turn away from his crib. Even when I'm sleeping I will only sleep facing the crib one hand clutching the rails and I will only sleep when he sleeps. I can't let anyone take care of him. It had to be me. Always for every single little thing. I would feel crippling anxiety, self loathing and immense guilt just for sleeping not facing him. Imagine the rest. The worst part is that I thought that is how it was meant to be. I was chained to my son.
I'm doing way better now. But the darkness still haunts me.

Lady: Everything that you have will kill my baby so I would rather have it starve than take chemicals that will definitely not kill but help but I think it will kill my baby.
