i grew up there, i remember when center st. was just a 2 lane shale road. back when Mathews superette sold the best BBQ which you could smell for over a mile away...that is if the wind was just right n champion paper wasnt trying to destroy the planet with all the foul smells it put out. summers spent at the pool over at the north campus listening to rock playing on the life guards radio while daring anyone to try jumping off the high dive....those were the days. days when on any Saturday morning you would find kids out playing baseball in any local field or football if it was cool enough. Saturday afternoons smelling BBQ pits smoking away as burgers n hotdogs sizzled. it was a slice of heaven back then, there was no real crime to speak of. everyone worked hard to get along.... a far cry from how it is there now from what ive been hearing..god how i miss that place n all the folks i grew up around.
I lived in Deer Park from 1984-1989 on Luella, near San Jacinto Elementary School. Do you know if the homes near South Campus on St. Augustine Ave still put-up Christmas lights?
I love Deer Park !

Born & raised here and still live here!
Ahhh my old home town!
I live here. I like to call it "The place of sirens" cause all 3 industrial cities have sirens, as do the plants.
