  • Last week in my quest to make a full 18th-century ensemble I made an embroidered stomacher and, more importantly, POCKETS!
This week I celebrate my 30th birthday by sewing the accompanying American Duchess for Simplicity bodice from the 8161 pattern. And I wander into the mountains of California to camp, engage in light haunting, and finish the Big Reveal™!
I'll show you how to sew an 18th-Century bodice (like the ones in Outlander) using the American Duchess + Simplicity 8161 pattern. This video also includes using a meat thermometer to make eyelet holes, an octopus made out of sleeves, and some non-campfire smores.
Soon I'll be figuring out how to make a ruff and finally making the simplicity 8162 stays that I've been avoiding forever!
