An authentic reco reco from Rio with 4 springs for a lot of volume! Have you seen a live Pagode in Rio? You will probably remember the sound of the reco reco - dry, sharp, dirty and present, a bit like a less loud caixa and very rhythmic - this is the reco reco's speciality. It is quite common to put some tape on one or even on both sides of the reco reco to muffle the sound and make it even drier with as little sustain as possible. You can also just muffle it with your thumb. A very versatile and handy instrument that fits in any bag and is played with a thin metall stick similar to a guiro!
