Good to see the T55. I used to serve on them back in Romania in the eighties. Man I would like to play with the turret, it is so cool to keep it in one spot and the the rest of the tank can move in any direction. I guess that is called the weapon stabilizer, if I'm not mistaken. I still remember how to turn that on. The middle switch has to be turned on, on the weapon controller, the motor starts spinning to 30000RPM, there is a small lever forward to the right of the controller that has to be flipped and then the third step is the right switch on the weapon controller. After that, you feel a kick and the stabilizer is on.

Wow the T-55 and the T-62 are almost identical at first glance, thought they have some differences in terms of the gun turret and of course the type of caliber of guns that are both mounted on those two, old but still impressive battle tanks.
Thankyou for watching! Yes the 62 was pushed out pretty quickly, so design changes were minimal. Only what was needed to accommodate the new gun was implemented.
Guys, are you planning to add T-64 or T-72 to your collection? Fun fact: Soviets were exporting T-72 with weaker frontal hull armor and less capable ammo type. So the russian T-72 would be hard to penetrate with export ammo to upper glacis but at the same time export T-72 version would be penetrable
T64 will be almost impossible. Only 1 is in the US which is Govt. Owned at national ground intelligence center. T64 is very difficult to acquire privately for import. We have come very close on several T72 deals, just waiting for the right one! We all here are itching to get on a 72.
@@ScaleMilitaryModels because originally T-64s where never exported anywhere outside Soviet Union, T-64 was a more expensive high tech tank that was meant for service mainly in western part of the country.
@@DNS-Freakz hard to say, many of them are getting destroyed do to very intense nature of fighting, as a result Ukraine is suffering very heavy losses in their armour fleet, because of that tanks and parts are in very high demand right now. So right now I think it's unlikely, once Russia takes over Harkov region (Harkov is where the T-64 factory was and main repair facility's are) it will probably become even more unlikely because Russian Federation is very strict when it comes to any kind of private weapon sales.
Thanks for the trip into past. I used to serve in 60th Tank Regiment of the Polish Army,. When I left it, the 'Merida' tanks arrived. But a man could manage to that lump os steel...
Thankyou Deadeye. The driving function is exactly the same, same engine, trans finals and gearbox. There is however an upgrade on some of the modernized T55s that offer a hydraulic assist steering which makes things much easier.
Beautiful look into these beasts guys, thank you for the video and the valuable info. Question: That spider-type road wheel on the T-62 came with the tank since when it was in Syrian service or was it put by someone after it was captured/retired? The interchangeability of roadwheels between soviet tank designs was common, there is even a recent picture of a burnt down T-72B with butterfly-shaped roadwheels like those on both your T-62 and T-55AM. P.S.: "COUNT IT AGAIN", I'd say it's probably the most common quote I heard in my army service ;)
So you would be correct in one aspect of that however you will have to wait for out T-62 documentary to come out on the channel and we will go over things like that
I love the dig at the rivet-counting pedants. How much difference can it actually make? I like learning about differences that *matter*, but some of this stuff is just a nuisance...
The tracks of the T55 are installed backwards. They should be so that the track bit has the "narrow" side going forwards. Not that it actually matters much, but looks funny...
I’m building a model of a destroyed T90. It has that nuclear protection stuff in/on top of the turret. Just wondering what it’s made of in real life, and if you guys think it would burn in a fire. Thanks! Interesting video by the way, keep them coming!
Its some kind of woven hard fabric like Kevlar, then it has the thick layer of white interior paint all over it. It does not appear to be to flammable but a fire hot enough im sure it would burn out.
@@MilitaryArmamentsCompany Well, your intro seems not to be this random hotchpotch of music and random images but a juxtaposition of specific tasks shown in past and present tense. Plus they´re mixed in a witty way that sometimes I don´t even know which epoch I am looking at (the engineers looking at a schematic and then you showing the modern schematic as if that´s what they were looking at). The rest is a good tempo in the cuts with a nice climax with the shooting tank. The only thing I would change would be the quality of the images since they´re rather low res.
Thankyou for the feedback! Good to hear. We made 4 or 5 openings each with a different theme to them according to the follow up main video. They are all very old, may be time for some updates. Thankyou.
About 60 (or 66%) same parts. It was impossible to fit MT-12 Rapira in tank so develop 115 mm gun. Also slightly better elevation is also indirect fire was a also design request for T-54/5. T-62 and later models didn't consider that as much important. In basic, T-62 is elongated T-55 hull with slightly changed turret from Object 140 and smoothbore gun.
We have a video coming out about that. However the brief overview is that Israel no longer need the T-series tanks for their Tiran conversions and ended up giving it to a private museum in England and then eventually got over to the US to where which we aquired it from a different museum
The team Agrees T62. We have put far more work into the 62 and know it on a personal level. It is also currently the largest firing tank in private hands in the US.

Glad to see a T55 veteran on our channel! Welcome. Our Merida turret Gyro has a bad leak and seals. We have never attempted to turn it on.
@@MilitaryArmamentsCompany I like the glasses you are wearing, can you tell me the name of the glasses?
Modelling these two at the moment and looking up key differences, led me to this channel.

The only thing missing was a synchronized main gun firing in slow mo 😁
HA! Unfortunately the Merida is still De Milled. Perhaps one day it will go live.
Great to see interior views, and especially measurements! Speaking of which, please remind Richie about those Leopard measurements we talked about.
Grate comparison , very informative 👍
Thankyou for the kind words.
The hull width is the same. It's just the turret (ring) which is wider.
Nice video very informative thanks guys

Having the music playing while the guys were talking was a little distracting. Could still hear them fine, though. Might just be me.
This video is actually quite old, filmed long before we had quality microphones. The music was added to help dull the back ground noise pollution.

The meaning of this video is to teach people the small differences in aiding their visual recognition of the 2 tanks.
