    This sign means a special military vehicle in which the driver has a reduced field of vision, or the size of the vehicle exceeds the provisions of Polish law, or the vehicle contains dangerous items (such as ammunition). This sign is used when driving on public roads. This information is from the Polish Journal of Laws, Journal of Laws 1999.71.799 (old version). Currently, the same sign is used, but in the colors black-gray (Journal of Laws 2005.116.974).

    Lovely Merida variant. Poland did a lot of good work modernizing the T-55 series and from all description turned out some fine versions.

    4:17 mark: Track tensioning... The Chieftain would be so proud.. ^~^ So the T-55 uses a differential steering system, rather than a brake pack.

    Hello. Your T-55 AMS does not have "ŁWD" mounts (Extended charge fired from tanks). AM"S" means sapper , T-55AMS is with my colleagues in Gniezno, Poland, fully equipped and operational. I have photos of what it looks like somewhere.

    AS far as I remeber from my 60th Tank Regiment, Meridas in this version (AMS) was used with other tanks but had special equipment for passing the mine fields. There were no special "czołgi saperskie" - engineers tanks

      Interesting information. Thank you. Yes we do not have any proof of attachments used however we do have proof of it being in an engineering unit

    I agree with the Soviet engine plan, it sounds more field repairable compared to a everything in one engine block

    • @MilitaryArmamentsCompany
      @MilitaryArmamentsCompany  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can agree is some aspects however some aspects of nato tanks such as engine packs makes for easier removal from the tank itself

    • @zepter00
      @zepter00 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is nit truth. Leopard 2 Powerpack can be changed in 20 minutes. t-72 engine replacment canbe done..in two days of work.

    I love this. It's so informative.
    I think the transverse engine also decreases the height, of the hull,
    coz it sits/fits in-between the torsion bars, instead of over them.
    Pity about it not being able to be a powerpack?
    And what color are the engine oil pipes?

  • @jayfelsberg1931

    Did Nicholas get off on the track tensioning?

  • @curiouscat8396

    What exactly is the oil cooler for and what color are the oil pipes/lines?

    • @yuriorlov1373
      @yuriorlov1373 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The oil cooler cools the oil

    • @LB-oz9hv
      @LB-oz9hv 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Engine oil needs a little radiator or heat exchanger to cool it, without that it would heat up causing overheating damage or even an explosion.

    9:40 such sign's were introduced during the Cold War, probably in the late 1960's.

    • @MilitaryArmamentsCompany
      @MilitaryArmamentsCompany  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lol, I mean depending on what the crew was doing in the field would determine placement, but you have to consider we like dressing up our tanks however people like to steal stuff so we have to attach stuff not necessarily the most practical locations but where we can secure it down

  • @curiouscat8396
    @curiouscat8396 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Which oil is the oil cooler for?

    • @curiouscat8396
      @curiouscat8396 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am forced to conclude it's for the engine, oil? But what about the trans/mission?axle?

    • @yuriorlov1373
      @yuriorlov1373 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The transmission oil does not reach high temperature and is super thick, also not pressurized, it's just a bath

      Engine.

    the black triangle sign is Polish military specific, not Warsaw Pact or NATO standard. It was used during cold war and is used today.

    Where is its battery!? I know it's a diesel but it still needs a battery, for the electrics.

    • @LB-oz9hv
      @LB-oz9hv 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Inside the crew compartment.

    • @levilastun829
      @levilastun829 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The battery is in the crew compartment, in between the driver's position and the front ammo rack

    good job, well done. The learning is a pending process. I was searching here for additional frontal steel plate which was made on Meridas. But the version you have is sappers/engineer version which makes the difference. I didn't know. The same model (the best version in Poland) you can see there: th-cam.com/video/-yb7-RV2z0o/w-d-xo.html
