The world thinks winning is happiness. The enightened ones know winning is suffering. Losing is the happy path. It is the path of freedom, of self-disappearing - Ajahn Brahm

I want Ajahn Brahm to be by my bedside in my last hour or two before I die to tell me stories. I want to leave this existence with a light heart and laughing. That way, I can be sure to have a positive rebirth (LOL).

When I grow up, I want to be just like Ajahn Brahm (minus the tummy) and be able to say such good thoughts simply because I would be a good person. It will probably never happen, but at least I've got a guide along the way. Thank you so much for the talk. It was truly inspiring.

Mindfullness can help relieve confusion also. Being aware of what is happening, understanding the situation, creating a logical plan, being mindful as you do it...helps you disappear, now it's just the plan of action working. You just sit back and relax & watch everything unfold. No more confusion just a process. Your plan of action is a cause and has an effect. If it's good, keep the plan. If it's bad, adjust or scrap it all together. Cause & effect. Mindfulness & clarity not Mindless action & confusion

I would like to hear a talk on becoming a monk or nun. How they go about screening people, requirements, etc. Do you have to already be spiritually advanced? Be able to meditate a certain amount off time? Memorized the scriptures in Pali first? Pay money to the monastery? Do they give aspirants a chance to ask questions? How do you help keep the sanghe running? Do you pay for classes? I hear the teachers reference the monastic life, but not specifically how to get into it. Not that I want to, but, you know, other people listening might want to know, correct?? Just what are the requirements if someone tries the monastic life a few months and thinks maybe they've stepped on a path they've always kind of been on anyway, but now can take their focus to 'the next level' and undistracted by the world. Not that I would do that but others might be thinking about it Venerable bhante 😊🙏🙋

To Divinity: I decided to read on the Mayans out of curiosity, because I also thought the Spaniards. Mayan Collapse actually happened between the 8th and 9th Century and no theory is universally accepted regarding why. When the Spaniards arrived the Mayans had already ceased significantly on construction, and many cities had been abandoned. So he is referring to that decline ( not the colonial period)

I think to have understood that ajahn Brahm explains that, when he was 18, he did not know about the history about the Mexican pyramids. Because he had no money to buy a guidebook and he had not done any research about them beforehand. He spoke about himself 45 years ago

I love your talks but I must express some disappointment at your claim that we don't know what happened to the people who lived in those pyramids, A quick look at Mexican history will clear it all up. In short, those people...my ancestors...where enslaved and murdered by Spaniards and those who weren't were killed by the small pox they brought across the sea with them. Like I said, I love your talks and I think the world of you but these people have a story that has been forgotten by many and that plays a part in their extermination.

ajahn brahm inspired me to want to become a monk but yesterday i read the 227 precepts and they are weird! no singing or dancing. and tons of weird crap. why? such a turn off. typical. religious bs and why do they call the female monks nuns like icky catholics? i know ajahn brahm is modern and encouraging gay marriage and female monks. maybe he can abolish the weird precepts? doubt it!
