I didn't had much luck with crushed egg shells but I had luck with beer traps.

Yes I am getting the same feeling. Eggshells do seem to reduce the amount of slugs but you need loads. Beer traps have worked for me too in the past so I may try them too. Thanks for the suggestion!

Wow I never thought of a tunnel what a neat idea. Thanks.

I was able to grow spring onions outside through a fairly mild winter here in Queensland Australia (which is sub-tropical), so it seems plausible they could grow in winter there with something extra like this, depending on how much warmth it can keep inside.

Thanks - hopefully you are right. It depends on how much sun we get through the winter months, but it can be pretty warm in the tunnel even in winter, and we have sited it to catch the most winter sun available on our plot. Fingers crossed!

Newly subscribed, lovely video thanks. I hopefully will be starting the same journey next year as we have sold our house, now just trying to find a small house with land down this way.

Where do you live? Have you measured interior vs exterior temps of the tunnel? I like this but I think where I live I would need to have a walipini or burmed greenhouse because it gets to -30C sometimes.

Hey Andrew. We are in the UK. I agree that you would need something a bit more substantial if you have severe weather. As you mention, I have seen sunken greenhouses with dark rock/brick southern walls used to maximise the amount of solar gain and protection from the elements. Perhaps that is more suitable for where you live?

Hi Paul, great video…. How wide is your polytunnel, thanks.

Thanks! The tunnel is 12' by 30' with 3 crop bars (from Northern Polytunnels in UK).

Wow,thanks Paul for the reply,it’s helped me out greatly…..12 foot is perfect for me,unfortunately I cannot get 30ft in but definitely 18ft,the three beds certainly help.

Can you tell me about your watering system in the poly tunnel?

Hi Brian. During the summer months I have a drip irrigation system on a timer that waters the roots of the plants for 20 mins each morning. I chat about it in this video th-cam.com/video/iyfqIecFLSc/w-d-xo.html at 5:44. The timer is by Gardena and the drip lines are by HydroSure from waterirrigation.co.uk. I also bought larger bore supply tubing and mini valves from them so I can isolate each bed individually.
