My building is on the flight path into Dobbins AFB in Atlanta. Every once in awhile we are treated by an E-8 practicing take off and landings. You can hear them coming 10 miles away and then they roar right over my deck.
I work out in the airfield replacing out old airfield wiring and transformers. We would watch these planes take off from Robins and do touch and gos, once you reach the Distance Remaining Markers, it's awesome to see up close. You can't get into the JSTARS Ramp without a Restricted Area pass.
Everything about this video was right man you just gotta love the sound of that jet noise. I gotta watch it again.

I thought I read once that these E-6's and E-8's are actually retired 707-320C airliners.
Correspondingly, the Navy's transport fleet had retired Alitalia "C-9B" airframes.
I worked in the fuel cells of this aircraft 201.
Have these not been re-engined with F108's?
