Omg the Yellow Deli. That’s my next section in VT. I will not be going there. Days Inn in Rutland for me, if I’m sleeping off the trail😂. Will be starting your book this weekend. Can’t wait. Always great info. Happy trails.🤘🏻🥾⛰️
Ibex and I thought we were getting ahead of it on the AT leaving mid-March (we thought more people would start in April) but we were smack in the middle of it!
Thank you Audrey! I did a little research into the 12 Tribes, and it didn't take a lot to find out what the principles of the cult really are. Please educate yourself before making a choice to support them. And I definitely have to agree with the hiker funk. No matter how your 'fast wicking, quick dry' clothes are labeled, be prepared to be wet and sweaty (and dirty) 24-7.
Congrats on your book, Audrey! I'll definitely be ordering a copy. 😊 "Don't use your emotions on shitty people." Good advice for everyone, on or off the trail! Love the hat! You wear it well! Nice sweatshirt too!!
Wasn't so much the rain itself but the being constantly wet. And sweat did the same thing. July VA to late Aug CT, was soaked through the entire way, with the constant wet rash that goes along with that. The 12 Tribes thing seems to mostly affect the vulnerable young hikers more than the well jaded elders.
I’m reading your book, about half done. Enjoying every page ! All good tips based on my own 700+ miles of AT hiking (so far). I’ll say I deliberately did not go into Rutland, VT in part to avoid the Twelve Tribes folks. As for rain, I can handle being wet but it’s the trail flooding that is problematic. Anyway, great video!!
Yayyy I’m so glad you’re enjoying it! Luckily I didn’t get much trail flooding. Some in Pennsylvania but more often it was just steady rain, day after day. And lots of mud in Vermont, of course! Thank you! 😄
Looking forward to your book and my wife will surly read it. I am intending to thru hike in 25 and putting together recipes on my channel and would appreciate comments. I have not thru hiked because I could not eat what others eat but I think I can develop things I can eat and will have my own recipe book on TH-cam. Thanks
I have posted some of my food recipes and have many more. The recipes for me must be simple using things I can carry and I wonder what others would think of real food. I have hiked most of the trail and will be 80 in 25 so I may not recall recipes. I will look at TH-cam for ideals, if I can remember. Regards @@AudreyAdventures
Here is corny dad joke especially geared to Ibex in case She hasn't heard it. Ever since I've become an atheist, I can't seem to find those delicious sponge-like mushrooms. I fear I've lost my morel compass.
Treat everyone you meet on the trail like "a ship you pass in the night". Always be cordial and decent in all respects, but I think it is a mistake to approach it as if everyone is your friend. Everyone is not your friend.
I think that’s a little cynical haha. Lots of great folks out there! I’m still very close with many of my trail friends. Not everyone is your friend but many people could be!
The twelve tribes are an international cult* and they have been convicted of child abuse. These things are not ALLEGED. They are fact. Both facts have been established in a court of law.
Great list and I love your lighthearted delivery! Thanks for including the things you did. When you got to number 3, I busted up laughing but it couldn't be more serious; cults are wackadoodle. You give sage advice. If you filmed this when I'm guessing you did, I was wearing my hat too. ❄🥶🏂 You must have a cool aunt, that looks like an awesome hat.
Haha thank you, Peter! I was feeling snarky that day. 😆 This was during the deep freeze back in January, but I imagine you figured that out! It feels like ages ago now with this recent springlike weather. And yes I DO have a cool aunt hehe.
@@AudreyAdventures Your snark is adorable. Keep up the great work! I watch a lot of hiking and outdoor channels and you do a great job with exactly the right amount of production (and no dramatic music! Thank you!); you've nailed the format for highly enjoyable videos, indoors and out.
@@Peter_S_ Haha! Thank you so much, Peter. I really appreciate that! I'm not the fastest growing channel so it's always nice hearing that people like my videos 😊

I hear the Inn at Long Trail is a good option in that area too! Yayyy I hope you like it!!
Me on the second one: 😳 (guilty!)
Me on the fourth one: 😳😳😳 but I did eat a lot of salads though, I’m with you on that!
Bahaha I drank plenty of beer myself but then my body started falling apart by the end of the trail. 😆
The best reason to hike ahead of the bubble, is because so many people aren't woods broken. Nice video. Good Luck, Rick

You're welcome! Glad you enjoyed them.

Thank you so much, John! I hope you like it. ❤️ Hehe the hat is a little goofy but it is soooo warm - I love it!!
Thank you for being so real with this video. It needs to be done more often. You have hit some great point that the crazy do out there.
Thanks again!
Haha you are welcome! Glad you enjoyed it 😁
Absolutely @@AudreyAdventures
I agree with you on all except number 5 . I've nearly always slept with my food except in the Sierra's. Great advice though.

Yeah I certainly think young folk are more at risk, especially if they're feeling a little lost.
Friday, February 23rd: Thanks for your tips! Happy Trails! Ross08
You're very welcome!
👍, thanks!
I picked up your book. Can’t wait to get started reading it.
Awesome - thank you!! I hope you love it! ❤️
Very much appreciated!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
You’re book is a great read. Really enjoying it.
Awesome! I’m so glad you’re enjoying it. 😄
Thank you for the realism.
You’re welcome! 😄
This was a refreshingly creative video. Loved it… thanks for the laughs. It’s all 💯 accurate, too! -Wags (GAME ‘09)
I think I was in a mood the day I made it. 🤣🤣🤣 Thank you! 😄
Just received my copy... happy trails
Yay!! Glad it made it okay. Thanks again, Gretchen!

You’re gonna have to catch me on the trail for that content 😂

Hehe thanks, Brian! I try. 😜
@@AudreyAdventures Life is a joy and you are so upbeat and cheerful. You always bring a smile to me. Thank you
I've never heard any vloggers breathing like Darth Vader while climbing a mountain 🥵
Hard to do that and talk to the camera at the same time 😜

Love the hat! Tip #2. Just curious are you speaking from experience Lol!!
Gonna have to double check what number two was 🤔😂
Come on we sorta need beer for mental health, not calories.
I'm speaking from my own mistakes here. Trust me, I drank PLENTY of beer on the AT. 😆
Bout time for "real tips".
I think I was just feeling a little snarky the day I filmed this 😜🤣
