Hey guys, I’m a general contractor. I do large scale residential construction for a living. I came upon your page because we were recently given a beat up old camper that we are getting ready to remodel ourselves. I just want to say that although you guys are not professionals I really admire your passion and dedication. You accomplished something incredible for yourselves. I know plenty of folks in the industry who may have the right tools and the right knowledge to be able to approach this project with more professionalism but because they lack the passion and fortitude they would have never accomplished something like what you did. You should be very proud of yourselves!

This RV is now nicer than most RVs that you buy brand new I hope you all realize the wonderful job you did on it even though you keep saying that you're not a professional you made it look wonderful and as long as you're happy with it that's all accounts and something like this I would love to have so thank you thank you for showing me what you were able to do it really looks great

@@mwood65 kinda right in what you have said, the dislike 👎is so the algorithm picks up on it so it filters out stuffy don't like. But it also shows the algorithm that the video is being watched, so it is good as it shows interaction on a video. So unless u had more dislike 👎than 👍 likes it's still a good thing. 👍

I would be PERFECTLY comfortable in this RV. I see no reason to spend all that money as long as this is structurally sound and it satisfies all your needs. To have something old might bother some people, but the fact that you personalized this yourself and it looks THIS good makes it , in my eyes, much more beautiful than a brand new camper. You are a talented craftsman, sir, and I also would like to see your wife put even more of her personal touches in threre. I especially liked the wooden letters over the loveseat.

Be very proud of your great work! "All that shines is not gold." You have a solid quality RV. Don't let new catch your eye! The RV INDUSTRY IS BOOMING NOW AND THEY ARE BEING SLAPPED TOGETHER, not yelling just making a very strong point. I have a 2009 Trail Manor 2619. It is a bit older and does not have any of the of the problems I have heard about with shotty work. Issues with refrigerators, Windows, even foolish issues with cabinet doors and drawers. You know what you have go out enjoy it and don' look at the green grass over the neighbors septic tank.

PEACE 1 My experience has shown it to me. I had a Coleman/Fleetwood Sante Fe 2001 and the canvas and the vinyl roof over the beds was so thick and heavy no sunlight showed through it was completely opaque. The a/c was amazing and would keep the pop up very cool in the summer in Fl. A ceramic sink, not plastic all wood cabinets and quality foam beds! My 2009 Trail Manor 2619 is still better quality cabinets than items I am looking at now.

We bought an RV exactly like yours for $2,000. My husband used it for a hunting camper for the first year, but I would like to renovate it for us to use more often. Thank you so much for the encouragement. You did a GREAT job! We have replaced the refrigerator and microwave. The AC works but not the heater. I don't really care about the heater. We have a little electric heater that works just fine. It doesn't really get that cold in Central Texas. Having your videos will help so much to boost our confidence. Just like you....we are appalled at the price of a new RV. I think we will be happy with ours with a few improvements.

I just bought a 2K 99 Shasta to live in for a year, while I save to buy a new manufactured home for my property. This will be a big help! The RV is in great shape, but all the furniture is done for, so I'm removing it all and replacing it with parts I find for cheap on craigslist and stuff I already have. Love the paint job and the carpet idea.

Incredible transformation. We've own a 99 class A that I've had for all most 14 years. We've made several interior changes and more to come. Your renovation are very inspiring. We've been upgrading, modifying, etc. I hope we are able to make it more to our liking as you did with your rig. Awesome job guys! One of the best things on yours is that it's probably "paid" for. I don't want to buy a new rig or have any payments. So upgrades and changes are in process. Thanks again for the inspiration.
    Safe travels!
By the way, if you do decide to change the color of your shower they make some very good two part epoxy for the marine industry that will give many years of service to the fiberglass.

Awesome work. This is a good way to get into the RV lifestyle and being that you spent a lot of time working on your unit, you now understand how they go together and what to look for when the day comes you want to go with a new unit. Personally what you have is great and you have put your stamp on it.
I had an early 90's Terry Resort...37' version...same exterior color scheme and most of the interior had the mauve and pink crap going through it. We did not care. Everything worked and we had a blast with it. We called it the submarine because it was long with no slides. My kids grew up with it and we have fond memories...THAT IS WHAT COUNTS!

Might want to add some clips...or velcro..to the bottom of the blinds to keep them from swinging and slapping when traveling. (I live full time in a motor coach...so sharing some tips.) Eventually you might want to replace the steel blinds as they will heat up with the sun. Many of us use the silver insulation (in addition to blinds) found in Home Depot/Lowes, that is flexible and has like bubble wrap between the layers of the foil.

    • @Rvdaydream
      @Rvdaydream  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Sandi Booth Definitely.. All the blinds have clips on the bottom except the one behind the new loveseat we added as that blind is supported by the top of the loveseat nicely... We love our reflectix... During our 3000 mile Florida trip last year it saved us a bunch... Here's a video covering(no pun intended) that... th-cam.com/video/UUxWw9dwPR8/w-d-xo.html thanks for watching and the great ideas

Love it, I just recently bought a 2005 camper for $500. Most is in good shape, needs a roof as well, has had plastic on top when the leak was found, I’m planning to start in the front bedroom with a full remodel, then the kitchen, then bathroom, I plan to do a full remodel on it, but on a budget, everything will be done by me, planning to update it all as I go of course. Once it’s complete, it’ll be a nice long lasting camper. I am curious where you got the rubber roof at and how much it is, I’m debating on either using a rubber or replacing with an aluminum roof, there are only 3 bad places on the roof and are all semi minor. I’m planning to also repaint the entire outside of it. Everything on yours looks amazing. You did a wonderful job, it should last you many years. You can paint the entire outside and change the wheels to an updated aftermarket type wheel to make it look even newer. Then maybe you won’t want to purchase another one at a show or anything.

After years of watching you tube, this is maybe my third time commenting. Phenomenal job guys. Looks better than many of those new RV’s. You seem to pay attention to every detail. Your looking for less expensive ways of doing things, while not compromising quality makes the camper so much more special. Thank you for sharing this, it will inspire many, many people to do lots of stuff not just camper related. It shows what people can do if they are willing to work, learn and be creative. You should be so proud of your accomplishment but above all, proud of your team work.

I think it's absolutely spectacular. I'm in the process of renovating an old RV, not an RV a camper. It's older than I am. I think you did an amazing job I love it I wouldn't trade it in for a brand new one

I used to work at Keystone in Pendleton Oregon, and I got to tell you I would never buy an RV or a camper or a fifth wheel or motorhome that's brand new. I will always always go for the older ones and fix what I need to fix and change what I need to change.

I'm currently rebuilding/remodeling an 05 Dutchmen 31ft'er trailer. So far, slide out floor replaced, kitchen was complerly gutted and framing redone (complete front and about 4 ft down rightt side), just need to install counter top and hook up water lines and kitchen will be done. The roof is next(already have the roof kit). I know there is some damage but do not know to what extent. No problem, just wood, LOL. I'm keeping a library on the project along with all receipts. Its not a bad project, just takes me longer to do anything as I'm recovering from BEATING stage 3 lung cancer and not 100% yet, may never be but I'm alive and kicking, Lol. Ya'll did a rather fantastic job on yours. It takes a bit of work but its worth it.

Yes, I love that thin plywood you are talking about, just used it in a house addition we just finished. We had a couple guys install drywall and f@&¢¥¢d it all up so I saw that stuff at Lowe's and put it over the drywall. Very nice stuff to work with and hide flaws.

I like it!!! I used to have one and before I bought it - the new RVs were too fancy and I wanted to take my kids up to the lakes and not worry about sand and dirt. I ended up with a used one that I could totally relax in and not worry about getting something dirty and having to scream at the kids!

Great job!!! I did the same with a 1973 Airstream. Bought it for 4k have about 20k in it now but it has been all out of pocket over 6 years on a retired fixed income. We made it our own, now I know it inside and out. Still has some things to replace but is roadworthy and sound. It`s rving on a shoestring.

4 months ago I bought 2 mostly gutted 1970's 25 foot campers for $40 an estate auction that taken plate steel and welded the frames together and butted the 2 halves together put on concrete piers and I'm building a 50' Tiny home and put it on my 12 acre property in Northwestern Arizona. One side is going to be the bathroom and kitchen and the other side is going to be the living space and bedroom. I'm putting a regular tin roof on mine though because it's going to be on a permanent foundation and it wont move again I don't have to worry about moving nor weight. I'm also doing spray in insulation because it's cheaper per square foot if you rent the machine and spray it yourself plus it seals the structure up better. I'm also going with a 3/4 size fridge and no Oven/Stove. I bought 1 of those 9 function countertop air fryers for myself for Christmas of 2020 and I haven used my full size oven or stove top since. I have a microwave, crockpot, pressure cooker and electric skillet as well so I will just build a shelfing unit and when I want to use one of them I'll just pull it off the shelf and use it then put it back when I'm done using it so they are out of the way and not taking up valuable counterspace, it's just my gf and I and her daughter who is in college and is only home on long weekends, holidays and summers. after I get this ours done I'm going to look for a 12-16 foot camper to build for the gf's daughter with just a sleeping area, toilet room and living space, that way when she's here she's "Home" but also has her own little space to go to, hang out in and do her school work in peace.

Very smart!! I had a 1990 31 ft for years that was maintenance free. I retired from work and the wife and I decided to sell it and upgrade. BIG MISTAKE!!! We sold the camper after 1 day of listing it and bought a 2013 year end camper in 2014 for 2 grand because of a slide and for more room. There isn't a day that goes by where I don't miss the 1990 Playmore. The 2013 Laredo has been totally problematic and we now have a note payment. I learned to never buy a fiberglass unit because of delamination. This has started on the side of the camper as well as fading this year, we live in Arkansas and it is expensive to repair. The warranty does not cover delamination after 5 years and my auto insurance policy wont pay due to manufacture defect and not an accident. This sucks big time, now I have a big and expensive repair bill that has to be completed on top of the note for another 5 years. With that said, keep the old metal unit. I owned many units since the early 1980's and never had any major issues.
