Had the pleasure of looking at this again, for the first time in quite a while. For me, one thing stands out more than any other. And that is the ADORATION lighting up the faces of the Santa Barbara actors, as they watched Jill Farren Phelps give that amazing acceptance speech. This business is brutally difficult, for all of us, and having a human being at the helm who is not only brilliant -- but has your frigging back when the stakes get highest -- is enough to make actors and writers and directors and producers and everyone else in the family fall in love. What was written in the actors' eyes was playing in every heart that day.
I don't understand how do you award someone for lead or supporting role on SB, who was there in a supporting or in a lead role. For example Julia (Nancy) could easily be a lead role. There were few actors there that would qualify easily for a lead role award instead of support. So, I don't agree with distribution of these awards.
A first of all thank you for all the amazing years you gave us as "Cruz" on Santa Barbara. Do you feel that Santa Barbara would have turned out differently had the Dobsons not been kicked out of the studios in 1987?
It's amazing to me that Lane Davies was never nominated for Daytime Emmy (that I can remember). Santa Barbara was so under-rated! It had so many story lines involving multiple over-lapping characters! What a classy speech by Marcy Walker.
Well he once said in an interview he wouldn't allow his name to be put in contention: "I don't see how you can vote for a Best Actor without having seen all the actors."
I believe that Lane never submitted his name for Emmy consideration all those years, that's why he never received at least a nomination, which he should have..
SB won every acting category, EXCEPT younger actress and lead actor! If I'm not mistaken, the tie for supporting actress may have been the 1st ever at the Daytime Emmys
Nancy Lee Grahn in her speech, " I hope to do this forever." Ummm...since we still see you on GH today, Id say that wish came true and its well deserved . 🙌
JFP is a difficult person BUT i don't think she destroyed SB....that one goes to B&J DOBSON for ruining their baby with their behind the scenes war. they shouldn't have sold SB in the first place.
@@babe7401 from a reliable source, I’ve recently found out that yes, sadly, and unfortunately Taylor Marcy’s son has passed away. In late months of 2023. And, she has broken up with her husband Doug, also. Apparently, the break up with Doug had NOTHING to do with her son’s passing, either. Absolutely, so very sad.
She didn't even mention the Dobsons! I wonder if that was an order or she's just that petty? The previous year, Bridgette Dobson went onstage and literally whisked the emmy away from JFP's grimy fingers...lol!
I couldnt agree more ..she ruined sb...damaged aw.....fired 90 year old anna lee...who would do that??????...heres an edit over a year later..ive been watching aw again on you tube i must say under jill pharren phelps aw was very good....still not crazy over how she made santa barbara the cruz abd eden hour tho...but under phelps anna holbrook as sharlene was amaaaaazing!!

Mason Capwell was the best written and acted character on daytime television under Lane Davies.
