- A week in our life as seen through the all important "What's for Dinner?" question. :) This week we tried my mom's chile relleno recipe. My kids thought I was crazy because I was pouring a flour, milk and egg mixture over the top of chilis and cheese. Elijah was like "is that a pancake?" Haha. They all told me "wow mom, this is actually good!" I told them "It's grandma's recipe, of course it's good!" #largefamilylife

Why? It’s incredibly insufferable to have any person, kid or adult, aimlessly meander through the obvious contents of the food in front of him.
Do your kids have household chores? I grew up in a big family and mom was a drill sergeant. She was great and super organized but she also liked a clean house so we helped out a lot. She had a full time job as did dad. She cooked and baked and taught us so much. It was a blessing. We sat down to a nice meal all together and always had a blessing. Dad made us sit at the table until everyone was finished eating. It taught us good manners.
Same, we grew up having to sit together at the table, ask to be excused. This family isn’t like that, which is fine, everyone is different but a little organization would go a long way towards making things run more smoothly. I’m put off by the one girl who must bake cookies while Dad is cooking dinner. Could she not do that before or after? It just adds to the chaos.
You were just raised differently, not better; remember that.

Look up a recipe called “man pleasing chicken” I think your fam would LOVE it. It’s basically a honey/dijon chix thigh. I add garlic powder and rosemary to it as well.

We make sweet potato fries in the air fryer. We coat them in olive oil and salt in a zip lock bag to coat them. And they cook in about 10 minutes. They are so good. You should try that sometime.😊

We baked them in the oven. With some olive oil, garlic salt and paprika!

There is also a Dutch splitpea soep, I can't eat it unfortunately because it is too heavy for my tummy. It is really a soup for colder days!

Hi Amber 😊 I have noticed you guys never have fish for dinner and I am guessing the kids do not like it... So, one dish I can suggest to "conceal" the fish taste is Brazilian awesomeness - Moqueca Baiana. It is nutritious and filling! I serve with rice on the side. (p.s. some recipes call for shrimp but fish alone is great too) ❤
That sounds good! We do eat salmon and tuna but I definitely would love to make more fish!

He probably would save a lot of money on getting a couple bread maker machines I have not personally ever used one, but I realize that y’all use a lot of bread and it might be cost-effective plus you can freeze the dough and I have to cook it all up at one time and then, when you want to use it, you can just defrosted and throw it in the oven! Your soup is so so healthy!

Yes, we used to have a bread maker and we liked it! I think to make baguettes you need to cook them in the oven to get the shape but the bread maker can do the kneading for you I think.

Agreed not to get the older boys in the kitchen helping out so they can also become well-rounded and independent in the kitchen as well.
I just bought 2 second hand bread makers to start making our own bread and it will make it easier and faster.😊

I love split pea soup but the home made parm croutons just sends it over the top.
I have our favorite soup recipe from Germany for you.
Brown 2lbs ground beef
Add 6 cut leek, 4-6 big potatoe and
vegetable stock. Cook for approximately 30 minutes.
Then add a laughing cow cheese to your liking.
We eat it with baguette and our 4 kids all love it.

Not sure! I want to take her to the doctor. It happened after a viral infection and I guess that can cause hip inflammation. It’s usually just transitory but I want to get her checked out anyway.

There is a boycott going on for all Kelloggs products & all their different brands under them like Kashi & Morning Star bc the CEO went on national TV & told Americans that if u can’t afford food to feed ur family then just eat cereal for dinner but this was after he announced a 28% price hike across the board in all products just bc he could. Mind u Kelloggs made 13 BILLION DOLLARS IN PROFIT IN 2023. So it’s just corporate greed.

Try making lasagna x2...would be more filling for ur family. Actually any kind of pasta and meat dish is more filling than soup. Make a beef stew, chicken with cream of chicken soup and OJ, spaghetti/meatballs would be great big pot for ur family..lol

Yes agreed any add ins to cookie dough should always be stored in by hand.
I actually just do it with my mixer too. It really doesnt crush them much and the cookies are fine. I go with the easiest method possible 😂

Yes! I need to do that. I think it’s the Ms. Fields recipe but I’ll ask Marc to put it on the website👍🏼
Chill your dough in the fridge for about half an hour before you form them and bake them. It helps firm up the butter and they don't flatten out as much in the oven.

I would so get rid of the 100% cereal- the kids get enough sugar from the baking, the treats from grocery shopping, the baking/treats picked up during the week, the pop, the juice................
Microwaves kill the enzymes in the food that help your body with digestion. I ditched mine years ago. ☢️
When was the last time I heard a child say they love Brussels sprouts? Never😊 I’m pretty sure Enoch (and the rest of your children) have learned to like healthy food choices is by having parents who cook rather than always grabbing fast food.
