They should give this track "Meditation" another name-I put it on and settled back for what I thought would be a lovely few minutes of peaceful relaxation while focussing on the breath going gently in and out,but within 30 seconds I was up and dancing around like a madman-my feet and legs just wouldn't cooperate!

The original Jobim version is much more meditative.

An old expression meaning brilliant. Today the equivalent would be awesome , iconic , legendary and other silly words.

As effortless as Gene’s playing, it’s just as natural to binge-out on his playing day after day, album after album, song after song. Brilliant supergrandmaster. Respect.

EVERYONE OF THESE GENTLEMEN ARE EXCELLENT MUSICIANS. I ESPECIALLY ENJOYED MR. DREW'S DRUMMING. PEOPLE WHO PLAY DRUMS HAVE ALWAYS FASCINATED ME. THEY HAVE EVERY PART OF THEIR BODY WORKING SO HARD. BOTH HANDS, WRISTS, ARMS, FEET, AND BACK ARE MOVING. AND, THEN THERE ARE SO MANY CYMBALS AND DIFFERENT DRUMS TO PLAY. IT TAKES A LOT OF PRACTICE TO SOUND LIKE THESE MEN DO. A GREAT BIG THANKS TO ALL OF THEM FOR SUCH GREAT JAZZ. SYLVIA! HUGS TO DREW!!!

It's not to say they are not good .....but you will see how the jazz guys do it ,and how they explore the chord sequences and find so many more possibilities to play .....its Jazz ...ITS SCARY AND MIGHT MAKE YOU A BETTER PLAYER......GOOD LUCK ON YOUR MUSICAL JOURNEY 1🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂

Saw Jim and Andrew plus 2 others (Martin Shaw and Mark Edwards) in a little "Jazz Club" (back of a working man's club) in Shepperton last and they were great. Jim at 71 still has the most fantastic playing ability and long may it continue. He also took the time to have a chat with my 16 year old one who was the youngest person there by some 34 years (after my wife). Would recommend seeing him play if you get the chance.

What else can be said, other than 'I'm totally blown away by this group' at this festival. Their London version of this song leaves out guitar & base solos, stunted drum solo, all about gene instead. Sad, what made this piece work was each & every solo. I get chills everytime I watch this version.......like no other.
Hope it remains on TH-cam until I join these guys somewhere else.
