    I hadn't seen Bill for about 25 years, so it was great to see him still active and still explaining things for the less knowledgeable. I remember watching in awe as he assembled his 427" small block for his Nova in the days before he decided to go Super Stock racing. I stumbled across this TH-cam channel by accident as I'd sworn off racing years ago, but still need entertaining. Now I'm subscribed, proving one never fully recovers. (-;

    Great video! Bill is Canada’s David Vizard!!
    Flow anomaly in the evening is probably a voltage drop in the power grid

    David Vizard made a book called Performance with Economy. In it, he mentioned valve size. This pertains I recall, only to SBC heads.
    He said if you're not going to routinely rev above 6000 RPM, installing the larger 2.02 valves isn't all that beneficial.
    He then added, it's beneficial to use the 1.6 exhaust valve as it helps exhaust flow. My wording isn't exactly what he said, but probably close enough.
    I don't think he was talking about heavily ported heads.
    For a daily driver car or truck that's mildly modified, It would be neat to hear Bills thoughts on this scenario.
    I did this 1.6 modification with some World Products SR (stock replacement) heads on my 350.
    I also did some pretty heavy port shape modifications on the intake side, widening the top of the port runner then reshaping the contour.
    Tho these were both stock 76cc heads, there was a very noticeable difference iny seat of the pants-O-meter.
    My mileage didn't change, just the power.
    The exhaust note was noticeably different to. Nicer
    .......I think I just wrote a novel 😁
    Thanks for your channel. I've been binge watching tonight. Neat stuff and I like your pace. 👍 Some guys move too fast.

    David Vizard in his Porting and Flow Testing book relates his friend, I think it is Roger Helgerson, has a step up transformer to get line voltage up to 10 to 15 volts over incoming line and then regulates it down so he gets a constant voltage throughout the day and day to day.

    Just put a set of those off a 604 crate motor onto my .040 forged flat top 327. Had 3500 miles on fresh build. Had 58cc 305 heads stock. Now has aluminum gmpp fast burn heads with new dual valve spring from Comp for their 30 30. I'm running them with a Schneider 137F solid flat tappet cam.480 lift with ,015 lash. Running guide plates with the 1.5 aluminum bowtie SA roller rockers for the 604 engines. I shaved the width of my feeler gauge down so I could set lash with an SA rocker. I'm running a 3500 stall 10 inch convertor. Got it running in my Monte Carlo today. It's got gobs of power, it's unreal now and it ran like a raped ape with them 305 heads before they'd float the valves low 5k rpm

    Yup, thats a about what i thought they'd flow. They would work really good with like an Extreme Energy 274 cam(flat tappet) which are .487 intake and.490 exhaust on a 110° lsa, 232/236 @ .50 duration. That would make for a zippy combo if you were at 10:1 compression or higher!

    Interesting, a mildly worked set of cast iron Vortec heads can flow 250 intake 200 exhaust.

    $2700 for a pair of those heads is pretty crazy !
    You could buy CNC AFR heads for that ! Yes they're decent for what they are but GM better get with the times, they're not selling those at that price, they're collecting dust on the shelves im sure.

      Chamber design and sparkplug position is the big one , port design is a little bit also

  • @Daveinet
    @Daveinet หลายเดือนก่อน

    This is completely bogus and has very little to do with real life. The valves are in a static condition, so you are not taking into account the pumping action of the valves and the surrounding chambers. How can this predict much of anything as to how the head will perform?
