I worked there in the Summer of '87 while in high school. Ran the machine that sent the cans down to the packing team. It was the graveyard shift and I had to eat lunch alone, in a dark empty warehouse cafeteria, at 3am. One lunch break, I saw this figure standing and staring at me from 20yds away. After a couple seconds of terror, that gave me nipple sized chicken skin, I realized it was security. Anyways, I quit and went to work at Jelly's on Piikoi where I still ate alone but in daylight. Mahalos for what you do, we love your channel.

LOL about the security guard. I remember Jelly's on Pi'ikoi St kind of where KHON is now! I miss those days. Even though I was younger I was always into music and would look at records at Sears and for some reason tapes at Jelly's.

Hi Sista. Hawaiian stew is so Ono. Debbie in my opinion makes the best. She adds link sausage & celery as well. So comforting on a cold night. Getting into the 40's during the day & 30's at night here in Washington. God bless you and have a wonderful night.

My grandfather was an electrician at Dole. There used to be a pineapple water tower that had lights in the eyes. My grandfather used to work on that and the ginaca machines and all the lighting in the factory. I used to hate when he took me with him on trouble calls, it used to stink especially the canal that ran along the cardboard factory where Tanaka Saimin is located now.
Great job bring back memories, the first scene of the video and I knew exactly where you were. The beef stew looked ono! Keep up the good work!

Aloha Misty: Thank you for the blog of the old Dole Cannery location. I enjoyed it so much that I can still smell the ripe pineapples, loaded in the wooden crates, rolling into the factory during harvest, and processing, during the summer months and seeing the empty crates on the trucks rolling onto the H1, west-bound, via the Vineyard Blvd.on-ramp for the return trip.- now is it just a memory to cherish. That water-holding tower-tank , painted to look like a pineapple, was an “icon” I still remember well. Thank you for taking us along for a tour of the new uses and telling us of the days you worked at the site and the stories of the “unexplained,” which I respect and honor. Your beef stew plate looked yummy - I want some now - it has been so long since I enjoyed a stew plate with good-sized meat. That bread must be something yummy when paired with some nice coffee. ☕️! Keep-up the great vlogging! Best wishes to you and your son. Much 🧧and 🤙! Aloha, fellow 🐯!

Aloha Bill! I remember the sweet smell! Now Nimitz Hwy just smells of pollution and car exhaust LOL. Maybe you can go grocery shopping and make some beef stew at home. Oooooohhh Misty story time and learning about the cannery was a little creepy!! We had no idea honestly about it. It’s so sad that all that space is so empty but thinking about where it sits and what was stored there…it’s no wonder why!! Overall nice Halloween touch!! The food definitely wasn’t scary thank goodness. We love a good stew especially when the meat is super tender and the stew is flavorful!! Had no idea you weren’t a fan of cooked carrots!! We do love how the potatoes are in beef stew especially when cooked right. Still looks like a nice sized meal in that container so we’re sad we can’t try them when they served more!! Great video 🤙🏼🤙🏼. I worked on the 2nd floor (Kaiser), the side facing Costco, for 20 years. I don’t think any of the businesses in the food court lasted too long. But they had good food. We moved into that location in 2000 and saw the deconstructed pineapple being taken away on a truck. That was sad. Loved your story telling and tour of the area. Good memories 😊. Thanks again Misty!!!
