I like to cover the light only while pouring the water back in the tank. I slip a plastic bag over the light and take it off immediately after pouring the water in. You'd be surprised how much could potentially splash on the light. Good job March.
A pump with a hose has made water changes a nice smooth process without splashing water everywhere. 😅I can’t believe I did it the hard way all these years .
I got the same setup! I love it! It did about 1.5 months to cycle. I got 2 Duncan's 2 clowns a Maxima clam. Everyone's happy. I do a gallon a week water change
I got into a reef tank a few years ago, I did and bought everything everyone recommended. Always had issues with algae, parameters all wack all the time. I finally decided to leave the tank alone, it’s been 2 years with out a water change and with out checking any parameters. Tank is doing amazing and has never been more stable. I do top off every couple days with straight tap water. And also dose all for reef once a month.
If you didn’t own a store you could install an rodi in the laundry room. And make a video. I use a funnel into the back and a pitcher it works great for water changes.
Ah man the saltwater mouth. This happened too many times before I got a tube with the squeezy bit to get it started. Is there a good way to reach out to you. I spoke to you at AAC in the UK about a tiny aquarium I was working on and would like to show you how it is going now it is live. It is just 700ml / 0.18 US Gallons!

So obvious. That's how I do it from day one, bro. Weekly water changes are a breeze.
Of course imagine me changing water on a 800 gallon aquarium with buckets 😂
