The truth is that, the Modi Government's tenure has been nothing short of a colossal failure on all fronts. From its abysmal economic policies to its blatant disregard for democratic values, this administration has shown a remarkable talent for incompetence and negligence. Let's start with the economy, where the Modi Government's mismanagement has led to a downward spiral. The hastily implemented Goods and Services Tax (GST) only added to the confusion, with its complex structure strangling businesses with red tape and stifling growth. The Modi Government's handling of the COVID-19 pandemic was nothing short of a catastrophe. From the early stages, the government downplayed the severity of the virus and failed to take timely action to curb its spread. The lack of adequate medical infrastructure, including a severe shortage of oxygen during the second wave, resulted in unnecessary deaths that could have been prevented with proper planning and preparedness. The callousness with which the government handled the suffering of its own citizens is a testament to its complete disregard for human life. Furthermore, the erosion of democratic institutions under this government is deeply concerning. The centralisation of power and the weakening of independent bodies have raised serious questions about the health of India's democracy. The assault on free speech and dissent, as seen in the stifling of media outlets and the targeting of activists and intellectuals, is a blatant attempt to silence any form of criticism or opposition.
Also, on the foreign policy front, the Modi Government's blunders have damaged India's reputation on the global stage. The mishandling of relations with neighbouring countries, such as China and Pakistan, has resulted in increased tensions and instability in the region. The government's erratic behaviour and lack of a coherent foreign policy strategy have made India appear unreliable and unpredictable to its international partners.
