This is one of the most perfect - and yes, beautiful - songs ever written. The chords still give me goosebumps, no matter WHO is singing it. And I love this version, too!
Wow! Didn't know Evan did a version if it. . Checking versions for my daughter, who may sing it... .. long story.. Evan & the lemonheads are part of my 20's!! Thank u so much! Amazing!
I never wanted to do this - gibby ( my producer ) insisted then the label insisted I include it - I'm not so proud - but I think it's alright ... look out for my next lp of originals it's gonna be rad - evan
Hahah...Gibby Haynes makes Evan Dando "...do that one Christina Haguilero song...", and so, he and the rest of the Lemonheads("Friends"), do. And then Evan goes on the internet to tell the world that this was, in fact, done against his very own wishes bc Gibby, that one totally warped and insane dude from that Butthole Surfers-band(referred to here, too professionally and somewhat anonymously, as merely "my producer") whodunitmademdoit. Great fuxkin story.
what the hell? first of all, linda perry is ALIVE and still collaborating with aguilera. second, the first released version of this song was by aguilera; perry willingly gave it to her to record (she was the primary collaborator for the album on which it was featured). i don't think many people thought aguilera wrote the song, and she certainly never claimed to have written it.
t's almost ironic that the best cover here is also the least obscure. Beautiful" is becoming a standard of the 2000s; originally sung by Christina Aguilera, it's been covered by Clem Snide, the All-American Rejects, and Elvis Costello. But here Dando makes it his own, even if that means he makes it sound like it's playing over the closing credits to Empire Records. It's an ideal match between singer and song, a surprising moment that almost makes up for the mess that came before it. Almost.
first of all let me state that I knew that the song was Linda's originally-a look at the title will convince you--the extract comes from the pitchfork review and it isn't mine --therefore all issues arise from there--but thanx for the comments--keep them coming
this song is simply Christina's and no one could even come close to touching it like she did, She made this song, so please everyone stop lie'in to ursleves and him! a.glam
It is Linda Perry's song. She wrote it and knows best how to perform it. That said, my favorite version is by Clem Snide, then Perry, followed by Christina and The Lemonheads. We can have our personal favorites, but there is no definitive "best".
This was written by Linda Perry but this song is Christina's. I don't know if the uploader was tyring to play the "too cool for pop guy" by not including her name in the title but whatever. do your research before judging. Christina has performed different renditions to this song, including an opera style version for CNN heroes. she writes most of her work and is probably the most talented lady in pop music. so stop trying to be cool and admit greatness when you see it.
@@theheadphonea-hole4133 I dont think they compared Christina to Evan. I think both versions are great.Dando is King though and we really need his music now more than ever.I wish he'd release a new Lemonheads album or solo album.....its been way too long.
@LadyStardustVertigo I think she sucks, you can't change my mind on that, sorry. As a big Lemonheads fan of course I'm not going hold back in voicing my disappointment about this.

Evan can make anything sound like gold...
The lemonheads - the single greatest mainstream band in all of musical underground's varied history.
I'm loving this cover!

Jawbreaker never did a cover like this
thanxx-always preferred that version

merci beaucoup ;)
I'd love tabs for this acoustic version.

Gotta say after reading the Pitchfork review of Varshons I was expecting slightly better. It's pretty good though.
te odio evan dando... hermoso
aren't we all?

Dando's the best. Who wants to hear over singing
linda basinga

Fanatic.
Didn't write it she's a karaoke singer. Never compare her to Dando again. Must me a libtard millennial

although it is another Evan Dando classic I think it lacks in intensity compared to the Aguilera cover!
both christina and linda perry worked for it ...and sorry but singing it's not just a detail..
why credit christina aguilera with this song?
She didn't write it - she just sang it
Linda Perry wrote it
@LadyStardustVertigo I think she sucks, you can't change my mind on that, sorry. As a big Lemonheads fan of course I'm not going hold back in voicing my disappointment about this.
@pelicanmouse THAN K U ITS BEAUTIFUL < Better dan Christina aguilera
I guess Lemonheads cover the song of Aguilera
this version is very simple which is nice... but really boring. no passion, unlike aguilera's!
This is great, but Christina's version is Way better.
Aww man, did they really cover this abysmal song from such an abysmal "artist"? At least it was done in pisstake form, I could get down with it.
