Your method of teaching this technique by pausing the footage and annotating is sheer brilliance. Other youtubers take note!

Those who have more than one skates can afford all these various kinds of slides. I only think of slowing down so that my skate is not under pressure. Thanks.

Cool explanation with the soul slide. My stopping techniques...well...they work, but it's like I'm halfway between a hockey stop and a power stop...or something. I look forward to adding this to my never ending journey.

Any idea why my magic slide ends up looking like a powerslide? I enter the slide using the soul slide, with all my weight on the heel of the sliding skate and the trailing foot dragging along ( no weight at all ). Is there something I am missing or not doing right? it stops me but it doesn't look like ufo in the end ( looks more like powerslide )

hi, I believe the reason is that there is still weieght on your back foot. try to tryst on your front sliding foot and let the body follow it to the end. the only think you would want from the back foot is to switch the heel to 90 degrees and keep it tight with you in the knees.

Is it recommended to perform this going downhill?

Magic and parallel slides are the most used speed control techniques in downhill 🤟

Sorry not a speed reader. Maybe talk instead of make us read then we can watch the video as well

Sorry, I'm not a good speaker, but you are right that the subtitles in this video are changing too fast, and this is distracting. Point taken and thank you!
