Best ninja Showdown yet in SFV! Learning Zeku for about a week now and what I gather is he really doesn't belong to any tier. He can be as good as the one who uses him because of the complex move list. One of the advantages of the pros are exploiting the "weakness" of the opponent. Fujimura kept jumping in due to Young Zeku's somewhat "absent" anti-air. However it could be negated by his VT2 and/or mixing it up with Old Zeku.
Issue with VT2 is Zeku needs to take some risks with his gap closers. You can see how many time he has to use it to back up his heavy approaches. VT2 takes this away which IMO isn't worth the trade of band-aiding his weak anti-air game in favor of emphasizing his mid-range pressure.
@@TrueStyle1000 I'm starting to agree with you. I am getting better with the jab shoulder ram anti-air (don't ask me to remember it's actual name) and the dash under VT1. Even empty VT1 dashes are good for throws. And young Zeku's throws are Godly.
This was an awesome ft5 set. Fujimura, with his mixup in the corner, I expected him to dash under unsung for a combo, but he stayed in front and either threw or comboed to maintain the corner position, I liked that. Not to mention, after he put unsung into a juggle state from the kunai, he dashed underneath unsung and used super to close out a round, that was impressive timing and execution. As for Unsung, I was surprised that he stayed as Young Zeku for the majority of the fighting. I though old Zeku had more options to keep Ibuki in a far spot, instead he used young Zeku to go one on hand, and it worked. I noticed that a few times he used st.mk as an anti air and, either it would work, or it was stuffed by Fujimura getting the preemptive attack. And his reaction to blocking the vt2 shuriken, to close out game 3, I didn’t think that would happen. With the way these two played, I kinda want to try out both Ibuki and Zeku. Also, that Ibuki costume looks so cool, I love it. Gotta love the modding community in this game, they know how to really make a character pop out with style.

Excellent! But Unsung should have used old Zeku more and done more zoning and distance hits before rushing in. Ibikini is all about chains and the rush down, just like young Zeku. So a fight between the two of them is like constant pressure speed boxing! They have the same rhythm almost, so even as Unsung was unleashing a combo, Fujimora still kept his rhythm, and could go right from being at the end of a combo to starting one, and vice versa. Both players are great so they always knew what to "do next" after the other finished a chain. IMO, Unsung could have used old Zeku and zoning more to break Fujimura's rhythm, and messed with his flow. Break the combos with distance strikes and knock downs so that Fugimora gets stopped short and has to get back his flow. Like throwing a brick wall in front of a race car. When it comes to a stop, it takes it a while to re-accelerate. Then, switch back to young Zeku and start the rush downs again, while Fujimura is trying to get his groove back. Still, excellent playing on both sides.

This is exactly the reason why I always pick. VT2. It is great for punishing jump in-s, something that Young Zeku is sorely lacking.

It's fantastic that Capcom had Zeku return from the old SF roster and give us Strider fans something old and new to play with.

he's mid tier. He's fine. Maybe reduce the startup on his grams moves, but other than that he's fine

He got a buff as of season 3.5. He's not a bad character, but he is very hard to use. I wish the stance switch worked like Gen.
