My absolute pleasure, Loven - glad you enjoyed it, and also found it educational haha 🤣 Yes, your queens have been killing it for decades - great to see them breaking records once again. All the best to you! 😊
The real reason behind Philippine's winning streak in MU starting 2010, really began in 2008 when Janina San Miguel won Miss Philippines World despite her infamously terrible final answer. The reason was because the interview component was only 10% of the total score and the stunning Janina had a massive head start winning both Best in Swim Suit and Best in Long Gown awards. Her final word is even more notorious on the internet than Venus Raj's final word at the 2010 MU finals. It highlighted the Philippine's glaring emphasis on physical beauty over eloquence (at the time) that was important on the international stage. She was the product of the 'drought' years for the Philippines. Her final answer was so embarrassing that even the politicians stepped in and highlighted a need to train their representatives to speak better and have better interview skills. The Philippines pageant industry really shook up since then and within 2 years, Venus Raj and her subsequent successors were born . My concern for the new separate organizers for Philippine's pageant scene is that unlike the past where the winners were crowned in pecking order in a stiff competition setting, the best going for MU , moving forward, the separate competitions might 'dilute' the pool, making the final winners for each pageant less capable. Let's hope my gut feelings ain't coming true.
Thanks for the insightful answer. I was indeed aware of Janina’s infamous moment, but it actually didn’t occur to me to include it in the video and it definitely makes sense. I suppose not living in the Philippines I’m not aware of the full impact - I’ve just seen the ridicule she faced afterwards, though I’m glad to see she’s moved on with her life. I suppose it takes those moments sometimes to force change, and that certainly seems to have pushed the Philippine pageant system place more emphasis on the non-physical attributes. Thanks again!

So I just discovered this channel today and I have been binge watching your videos starting from your very first upload, and I'm planning to finish them all tonight haha. As a pageant fan since 2014, I am simply amazed with how comprehensive and well-researched your contents are. I love the topic that you are covering about pageantry, and even putting information about the pageant's history, adding interview clips, and covering some national pageants from different countries. I swear I am learning so much from it. I'm a nerd myself so I really like how you present the information with well-thought out unbiased explanation, trivia, statistics, and all. And can I just say that the editing is also top notch? Like wow! Your dedication and effort to provide these kinds of contents are unmatched. This is my new favorite pageant-related channel :)) Your videos are worthy of getting thousands or even millions of views. Looking forward for more pageant topics you will talk about in the future. I hope you could also cover topics such as the Miss Universe 'El Tocuyo' award hahaha or prolly a more focused feature like Asian placements at Miss Universe, or 'European delegates who made the first cut in Miss Universe'. Also, I would love to hear your thoughts about the future of pageantry in the years to come. Anyways, please keep creating this content and I hope your channel will grow even further! All the best

This video deserves more credit than this. The Pageant Nerd is like the Sir David Attenborough of the pageant world. My sister has just started her new channel called Crown Sisters but I can tell you categorically your video is way better and more educational than all her videos. I’m sure she will agree with me as she was the one who told me to check out your channel. Anyway, well done TPN for a great job.
Hi Mel! I’m blushing with the comparison to Sir David! Don’t know if I’m quite at his level but I’m chuffed by the compliment, nonetheless. So glad you’ve found my videos interesting so far. Pageants have been a passion of mine for many years now so it’s been nice to share my knowledge and observations with other people. Please pass on my thanks to your sister for the recommendation. I’ll have to check out Crown Sisters! I wish her all the best with her channel, too! 🙂

15:27 I had a 10-day-novena-holy-masses in honor of Our Blessed Lady of the Rule (Philippines being a strong Catholic country in Asia) in the church a month before the scheduled Miss Universe 2018 final show where I prayed to personally witness in person the crowning moment of the 4th Filipina Miss Universe in Catriona Gray by seeing it in my naked eyes at Impact Areana, Moang Thung Thani, Bangkok, Thailand. My prayers were granted and it was the best Christmas gift.
12:51 The very first Miss Universe final coronation show that I watched live in person at SM Mall of Arena, Manila as the Philippines hosted the pageant for the 3rd time when Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach relinquish her crown to her successor. The first time in the year 1974 at the Folk Arts Theatre, it was the year I was born with Miss Universe 1973 Margie Moran.
I was in the reaction video of Pia Wurtzbach’s win, in glasses wearing a Japan sash. One of my friends threw a viewing party, and we were all required to send our preferred countries ahead so the sashes could be printed with the official MU font typeface. It was the first viewing party i’ve attended. The guy who almost had a heart attack was the moderator of one of Pia’s biggest fan pages. 😁
I hope you don’t mind me using the clip! I thought your friends’ reactions were wonderful! Exactly how I would’ve reacted! Have you now become a regular at viewing parties?! 😝
I've been waiting for this since the first part!... Such a true gem! I can sens ehow much heart and effort you've poured into this video so hats off to you!... New fan here! Cheers to more nerdy and entertaining videos soon! Keep up the amazing work!... 😁👏💯❤️👍👑
Thank you - they’re very kind words. It was definitely a labour of love, and I really enjoy reading of people’s enjoyment at watching the clips. All the best to you! 😊
Hope you can update this video TPN with PH reps Rabiya Mateo Top21 placement in MU2020 and Bea Luigi Gomez' Top 5 finish in MU2021. I'm a fan of your extensive research about pageants ...
6:04 Miss Universe 2010 4th runner up Maria Venus Raj was selected by the MUO to promote the Miss Universe in Las Vegas, Nevada ahead of the other girls together with the front runners in 2010 from Colombia, Puerto Rico, Haiti, Australia and Mexico. All of them were placed in the semi and the host country, USA was unplaced.
They said Janine Tugonon is the best than miss USA the Winner of Miss Universe and base on my opinion is really Janine Tugonon the Best. Swimsuit, Long Gown performance and have a powerful answer
Yes, there are lots of people who feel Janine was the better performer on the night, though it seemed as though Olivia was destined to win the crown. Maybe because it had been a while since the USA had had a Miss Universe? A shame for Janine nonetheless - her final answer was better for sure!
@@PageantNerd well probably because during those era MU winners were like Models/Celebrities of the organization compared to IMG Era were winners are more like a Representative/Spokesperson. And during 2012 It's no doubt Olivia's the one of the prettiest if not the Prettiest during that night paired with her Red Princess like Gown. But if it happened during IMG Era Janine would have taken it.
here is some trivia about Kimberley Anne Pressler and Shauntay Hinton.... They both suffered from a top 10 year. if they wouldve had the standard top 15... Both of these women wouldve placed. Shauntay if I am not mistaken placed 12th and Kimberley placed 13th or 14th...... so in Theory we would have only 2 non placements..... With Rima, it was speculation because of her being said to be late, party girl, and not always seen as responsible cost her a spot... Barbara Peterson, Miss USA 1976/Miss Minnesota USA is the only mystery that nobody can sight as to why she missed out on the final.... the interesting fact: 1976: all i know is Barbara is the only woman from her state to Win Miss USA and it seemed Michigan Kevin Gayle was more of the front runner and this was a surprising victory. 1999, Kimberley Anne Pressler's win is Ironically the last win for New York at Miss USA (1999) vs 4 Miss America Winners in the past decade (Mallory Hytes Hagan, Nina Davuluri, Kira Kazantsev (Three peat 2013-15) & Nia Franklin-2019) This win by Kimberley is seen as the biggest upset since Shawne Jebbia defeating Shauna Gambill and more recently Asya Branch Besting Kim Layne, Mariah Davis, and the Goddess ANDREIA GIBAU!!!! by besting Morgan Tandy High from Tennessee who was the Literal crowd favorite, the popular choice , and ICON of black gowns, with feathers and short bob.. and when she lost to Kimberley who hadnt won or scored higher than Morgan in any phase of the pageant was crowned many in the community said this is one of the biggest mistakes made by the Miss USA Organizer. 2002, was the 1st time the top 5 consisted of Black Women.... District of Columbia, Indiana, Minnesota, Connecticut with Kansas, Lindsay Douglas being the only non WOC. Indiana and Minnesota were the favorites going in and Shauntay scooped it... 2010, Rima winning was major besting the Pageant Veterans Morgan Elizabeth Woolard of Oklahoma & Samantha Casey of Virginia and the Clear Telecast high scorers Jessica Hartman of Colorado & Katie Whittier of Maine....It was only in the Final Question and Look Rima clinched the crown and she is the first Miss USA who turned to WWE and competed on Tough Enough. I think this plus being of Arab decent (which we havent seen Lebanon place since Georgina's Win) and maybe backstage caused her to win...
That’s some fabulous MU and MUSA trivia you have there - thank you! Another thing I was always fascinated by was in the early 1990s when they had a brief period of having a Top 11... Why?! In 1992 Shannon Marketic qualified in 11th place and ended up winning - talk about fate! There have definitely been a series of mystifying victories over the years, and the recent national pageants for MU have produced a series of upsets. I guess sometimes us pageant followers aren’t seeing the same things as the national organisations! Thanks again for the insightful comments! 😘

PHILIPPINES NOW IS MORE THAN A DECADE OR 12 YEARS EXACT IS ALWAYS MAKE IT TO A FINAL CUT . 12 YEARS STREAK PLACEMENT UNINTERRUPTED ... CONGRATULATION PHILIPPINES 🇵🇭👍🙏
Your flow is amazing!
Thanks for a thorough review of the Philippine Ms. UNIVERSE performance. Your videos are really addicting 😘❤️😍 more and more videos please
Thanks, Egay! Glad you enjoyed it. There’ll be more clips coming for sure - all the best to you! ☺️
Great content and detail! Congratulations!

I wish you never made this video last year 😭 so you could add Rabiya and Julia's placements.
I'm not even Filipino but I am so interested in their pageant loving country 😍
Not sure if you’ve seen my MU 2020 review video, but I update the placements of PHI and BRA in there ☺️
@@PageantNerd Awesome I'll check it out!
@@colourqueen22 Great! Let me know what you think 🙂
You've done your assignment pretty well.
Thank you, Philip - it was an enjoyable assignment 😊
What a great way to start the week. Wonderful as always my friend. Let me thank you once more on behalf of your growing fan base. Thank you again and hope you are healthy and safe - your fan, Joseph
Thank you, Joseph! Great to read your feedback as always, and to see the latest video kept the standard high! Your support is appreciated as ever, and I too hope all is well with you, as it is with me. All the best! 😊
Love your video yet again mate.. just the 2004 and 2005 miss Philippines clips got switched I think... can’t wait for the next instalment
Thank you, John! Can’t believe I messed those up - thanks for letting me know! I think I edited them into the clip in what I thought was chronological order but obviously not! All the best 😊
I love these videos. Please do more infos with different pageants in the world.
Wow, this video is freakin' amazing and of course the part 1 also. Both videos had tons of trivias and it was well-researched. The narration of yours was pretty great. Looking forward for more great videos about pageants in your channel. I hope your contents will expand more up to those underrated international pageants. And lastly I hope your channel will grow successfully. Nice work there.
Hi Stephen, thanks very much for so many kind words! Glad you’re enjoying my stuff so far. It’s very much a passion project in between my day job duties - I’m glad people are responding to it positively. All the best to you 😊
Another wonderful video with great content and superb editing. Congratulations! Please keep up the great work. It is a joy watching your videos!
Raygze Feraren Thank you, Raygze! So glad you enjoyed watching it - they take a bit of time to put together but I thoroughly love it, especially when I get such nice feedback as yours. Thanks again, and all the best to you! 😊
Fortune favors the brave after all, i am watching ur videos over and over again because of this gems of wisdom, your prounciation is top notch u got it all rigth but you will never guess two words i will never get tired off MILKA JOLINA😀
Thanks very much! It’s not so easy for an Aussie to attempt all those Latin names - I’m glad I passed the test 🤣 But seriously, thanks for the very kind words - glad you enjoyed the clips! I’ve enjoyed making them so far, so I’m even happier other people are finding them entertaining and informative. All the best to you 😊😊😊
15:27 I had a 10-day-novena-holy-masses in honor of Our Blessed Lady of the Rule (Philippines being a strong Catholic country in Asia) in the church a month before the scheduled Miss Universe 2018 final show where I prayed to personally witness in person the crowning moment of the 4th Filipina Miss Universe in Catriona Gray by seeing it in my naked eyes at Impact Areana, Moang Thung Thani, Bangkok, Thailand.
Thank you for yet another excellent content!
On another thought, i did not expect to see myself in one of the reaction clips 😆 (2015)
Thank you! Oh, you made a starring turn did you?! Which clip were you in?
No issues at all! That morning was unforgettable! 😊
Miss Venus Raj even she didn't win she made happiness to the filipipinos and history to the Philippines
My comment is : Miss Universe Catriona gray is the only miss universe who crowns her predecessor while she is still wearing the crown!!!! Love it!!!
Hi! Miss International 2016, Kylie Verzosa's also from Aces & Queens. 💙
renmasa18 Thank you! Someone else pointed that out yesterday - can’t believe I left Kylie out! I wish I could go back in and update the clip 😕
Hope you can update this video TPN with PH reps Rabiya Mateo Top21 placement in MU2020 and Bea Luigi Gomez' Top 5 finish in MU2021. I'm a fan of your extensive research about pageants ...
Thank you! New version is out now: 12 in a row makes the Philippines Queen of the Universe! th-cam.com/video/QYvjUDJ4kTA/w-d-xo.html
Very comprehensive! Love it
They said Janine Tugonon is the best than miss USA the Winner of Miss Universe and base on my opinion is really Janine Tugonon the Best.
Rabiya Mateo managed to get us (Philippines) there
Great edit, great video, it deserves more views. BTW I love miss cavite hehe
Thank you - hopefully it’ll get more views! Isn’t Miss Cavite awesome?! So elegant and stylish!
awesome... love your content... more like this ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks, Marissa!
Such a great video presentation, selamat malam from Indonesia
Maybe next time You can present the most unlucky nations at Miss Universe
Thank you, Edi! I’m glad you enjoyed it 😊 That’s a great idea for a video, thanks! Best wishes to you and to Indonesia 🇮🇩 😌
Update: longest placement streaks
Brazil 10- Julia Gama(1stRU)
USA 10- Asya Branch(Top21)
Philippines 11-Rabiya Mateo(Top21)
Yes indeed! I updated these stats in my MU 2020 review - did you check that one out?
@@PageantNerd yes and I subscribed too😊. I like how you present the pageant trivia👍
Thanks for your support! Glad you’re enjoying the videos 🥰
Very fresh presentation and a rare and unlikely demographic covering beauty pageants. Subscribe
You earned a subscriber here. This is a great compilation. Keep it up.
You know something! ONLY FOUR countries can lay claim to having placed OVER 50% of the time at Miss Universe
Thank you. I appreciate your effort. ❤️
My pleasure, Rex! It’s an effort I enjoy very much, and I’m glad you enjoyed it, too!
Thank you so ooo much for this soo in depth review.❤️💋💋💕
If catriona lost last tym it could’ve been a 3 peat win by South Africa
here is some trivia about Kimberley Anne Pressler and Shauntay Hinton.... Barbara Peterson, Miss USA 1976/Miss Minnesota USA is the only mystery that nobody can sight as to why she missed out on the final....
the interesting fact:
1976: all i know is Barbara is the only woman from her state to Win Miss USA and it seemed Michigan Kevin Gayle was more of the front runner and this was a surprising victory.
🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
Fantastic video 👍🏼❤️
Thank you, Leilani! Glad you enjoyed it ☺️
3:01 can you do this for other countries which have the top 8 or10 highest number of placement ? Please .... Love this video..🙏🙏🙏😇😇

Indeed it does, but this video was made before MU 2020. I updated the placement streaks in my MU 2020 Review video.
Now another placer from MW won in MU 😁😁😁 miss Andrea meza of Mexico.
I like this video now what next video the miss world shocking win please that idea thanks
i've seen a lot (not all) of your video contents but this the first that you've mentioned about a contestant's gown and walk 😅 good job though 👌
That was great. New subscriber here 👍💚💯🤗
Thanks JR! Glad you enjoyed the clip - appreciate the support 😎🙏🏽
new subscriber here...love ur video
Update: BEA WON! We’re now 12th
I’d have to say, as a beauty pageant enthusiast, you really do live up to your name as “The Pageant Nerd”. The research, the editing, the (background) music, even the pronunciation of the girls’ names are spot on. Though with an Australian accent which I do not mind. Lol. 😏
Anyway, I coined our recent placements at Miss Universe as Venus Raj Era or Raj Era as with Venus started our golden age/era at Miss Universe. Hehe. 😁🤭
And also, I’d like to point out that Kylie Verzosa ~ Miss International 2016 is also a product of Aces & Queens. 😊
Can’t wait for your next videos/contents. 👍🏼😊 You’re doing a great job. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Such nice feedback - thanks very much, Asian Jedi! Some of the names are easier than others, for sure! Venus was the pioneer for sure - she deserves the credit for starting the streak, especially due to the hardships she faced beforehand! And thanks for respectfully pointing out my omission, and what an omission it was! How could I forget Kylie, especially when I had her in the clip?! Many thanks again - glad you’re enjoying the content. All the best to you 😊😎
