0:07 The feeling of vindication when the chubbiest bloke in the whole gang gets the most badass and inspirational role in the battle. Bard for the win.
The mere fact that the entire orc army HAULTS and observes the Horn Of Erebor once they hear it, thereby immediately disobeying their own tyrants command, demonstrates how undeniable and authoritative the Horn of Erebor is, you cannot ignore this.
I can't tell which is more intimidating. I might have to go with the Horn of Erebor. While the Orc battle horn in itself is frightening, the disorder and cheapness of their armies dulls some of that fear factor. The Horn of Erebor, on the other hand, carries the grand sound of a once-great kingdom in a nearly-impenetrable fortress.
Frabjous Disorder and cheapness of orc armies? Do some research on middle earth orcs ESPECIALLY this orc army. Fear factor 100. Either way youd shit yourself in real life, their hideous.
Aegis Reflector dwarves have the best heavy infantry in middle earth plus their natural strength gives them that extra kill. But in the books they charged out with armor
Seeing their king coming out, it gave them new strength and courage. And yep, those dwarfs always working with hammer and cutter or at the anvil for decades, imagine their muscles.
Yea tbh Jackson could've added something better. Not sure but maybe added some kind of weapon that Erebor has or something idk. It was never convicing that a handful of dwarves coming running out changed the tide.
I love how this scene represents the victory of bravery and courage over greed and selfishness. The sound of the Horn of Erebor was mytical, check how it stopped the march of the orcs.
@Nob the Knave Ahh, but the sign of a great DM is letting them do it and roll with it anyway and still manage to give the party one hell of a fight. Besides all the best moments in Tabletop RPG is from party members pulling dump shit that still somehow works
@Nob the Knave Suppose a different style of play and all that. I use to watch critical role and may be slightly biased with mercer as the DM. Haven't given them a watch in a while. might have to go back and start watching again.
So great was the Might of the Erebor of Old that even the echo of it's Horn resounds in the mind of Orcs and Goblins, inspiring the fear of greatness it once embodied.
Gundabad horn sounds like a barbarian warhorn. It gives feelings of strength, aggression and bloodlust. Erebor horn sounds bold, tough and fearless. The men who hear it are ready for anything. I think the Gundabad horn commands an unstoppable force while the Erebor horn commands an immovable object.
As much as people shit on these movies needlessly (I’m not one of those btw as I thoroughly enjoyed them), I think everyone agrees the sound design is awesome, especially with the horns and the soundtrack.
Total War: WARHAMMER 2. You're playing as Thorgrim Grudgebearer/Belegar and you've been raided over and over on legendary for the first 20-30 turns of your play-through and you have finally raised a army to go fight Greenskins and their WAAAGHHHS by finally leaving your city.
AHHHH THE INSPERATION!!! The horn and then the bell and- oh this is just insperational in so many ways. Music is the most powerful weapon anyone can have.
I repeated this scene many times when I watched Battle of the Five Armies just to hear the Horn. The Orc's Horn is like a Battleship's, but the Horn of Erebor is just... magical.
Twice as hilarious when you initially remember in the book bilbo commenting " This is madness! 14 Gainst 10,000??" ... But then again the old crows in the service Of the old dwarven Royal family were able to contact Thorin's cousin To bring his army before the battle.
There's a lot of things the Hobbit movies did right and a lot they did wrong. The over use of CGI and lack of practical effects and camera work to get good angles are some, and Legolas defining gravity to name some. I still think these movies deserve recognition for trying. They made the sequel of the Hobbit into a movie first, so most people saw LotR first, so they needed to make a prequel out of the first out of the books. It was a rough spot to be in, but at least they captured the sense of adventure.
They did not just break through a wall of stone with a 3 tone bell made from solid gold I refuse to believe that. Gold is one of the softest things on the planet and there is no way in Arda they actually pulled that off.
Sorry to revive, but gold is also heavy as hell, and so it has a lot of inertia once it gets up to speed... so long as the bell itself holds together, and so long as the chain doesn't break, it'll do it, especially since it was loose chunks to begin with
I love the idea that the Dwarves are such good smiths that they can craft one horn that sounds like an entire horn section.
0:07 The feeling of vindication when the chubbiest bloke in the whole gang gets the most badass and inspirational role in the battle. Bard for the win.
Remember, he counts for two 😁
Remember that part where Bombur outruns everyone else, then takes on a bunch of orcs with nothing but some barrel armor?

The army stopped and he wasn't even done yet lol
I can ignore this if I want
It's only sign of respect
How badass are those horns to be blown in battle.
Aaron Armendariz ikr I want one
and how inspiring to hear the dwarf war horn.
The orc horn be like "advance and slaughter"
Bombur's be like "announcing the arrival of the King Under the Mountain and His Honour Guard"
I want MP3 files of just the horns from both trilogies. No other superfluous sound effects, just the horns. They'd make epic ringtones!
hell yeah
found anything? I need it.
so do I!

G. Lowenklee hahah orca got trashed on by peasants dude lol
Yeah. Think that the horn as the voice of the mighty kingdom reborn by the company of Thorin Okenshield.
Frabjous Disorder and cheapness of orc armies? Do some research on middle earth orcs ESPECIALLY this orc army. Fear factor 100. Either way youd shit yourself in real life, their hideous.
I'll tell you which is more intimidating: the horn of HELM HAMMER HAND! SHALL SOUND IN THE DEEP! ONE LAST TIME!
I think one is meant to instill fear and the other, hope.
When two trucks get in a traffic jam.
I've once seen a SUV with a ship horn assembled beneath. And I've heard it. It was loud.
😂😂😂😂
I would eat my own face for a truck with the erebor horn

I could see that happening...
😂😂
I'm back here literally a year later and i still think there is nothing manlier then the Erebor horn.
What your saying is chaos theory. It doesn't work like that for military armies. Your statement is therefore invalid ignoramus.
All I heared was "BOMBUR.. Bombur. bumbuurrrrrrr"
Bilbo: Thorin...
Bombur:"thorin"
0:08 Hearing that horn blare from Erebor, makes you, despite being heavily outnumbered by Orcs, confident that the day could be won.
That horn must have added some sweet buffs to the dwarves considering they were vastly outnumbered and exhausted by then.
Is it me or Azog's horn is severely underrated?
I always liked the Haradrim horn.
wheelsdeal IT'S SO SEXY THOUGH 😍 I WANT AN ISOLATED AUDIO OF IT.
I like the Rohirirm horn, better.
ive always been more of an easterling horn person myself
So probably im the only one who never liked Haradrim Horn
This is what I like about the LOTR film fandom, we compare the horns of the different factions just cause we can(rohirrim for the win)
"Fuck, 13 extra dwarves ! Now, we are truly lost"
Hence Why bilbos comment was noted in the 1979 animated version "This is MADNESS! 14 against 10000??"
Alternative title:
Tactical war horn vs dwarf with tuba
Dwarf with tuba wins
I just need an isolated version of this and then say hello to new ringtone
I love how it's bomber that plays it
Bombur*
The little pause the orcs and trolls give when Bombur blows the horn amuses me. "ENEMY REINFORCEMENTS!... Where?"
This scene will never not give me chills
Using the bell to shatter their wall was *badass*
Someone should edit this scene so Thorin trips and causes all the other dwarves to fall and they get wrecked by the bell.
I absolutely love the affect the horn has on the Orc army. This is more or less what Tolkien describes in his Novel.
this is incomplete without "To The King! To The King!!"
"..I thought to myself then 'There is one I could follow. There is one I could call King"
:'')
As much as people shit on these movies needlessly (I’m not one of those btw as I thoroughly enjoyed them), I think everyone agrees the sound design is awesome, especially with the horns and the soundtrack.
How could they make such movies even better? Of course a book will always be different than a movie.

The Hobbit movies are awesome
Man was hoping AC DC came on when the bell was ringing for the action sequence
SO AWESOME AND CLASSIC!!!!!
Both horns are bone shattering, but the orc horn specifically puts a deep fear in me when I hear it
I want to watch these movies again now
That orc horn sounded like a nightmare
That dwarf horn put some fear in their hearts
Orc battle horn is more violent when ereborn horn is more elegant
For the follow up on the original these movies had to do they did an exceptional job!

Amazing sound heavenly like
When they sound that horn all I can think about is they're summoning a hidden secret dwarven weapon that's about to unleash hell
Just found my new ringtone 😂
This is going to be my car horn
War horns and trumpets are indeed impressive. I remember the old Roman movies, those have some of such sound. If I remember well in Quo Vadis.
This movie was so underrated.
Orc horn is so fucking awesome :)
Its like level 100 broken limit hero dwarfs vs Level 40-50 level orcs

I want a car horn that sounds the Horn of Erebor.
I need a handheld horn, strap horn and fullback carry horn YESTERDAY!
it doesent show the part were Thorin screams ' To baaattle!' that really sums it up for me.
Baruk Khazad!
I want one
The Gundabad horn sounds like a boat horn.

what movie is this
HamesAlwaysWins "German Arrival at Stalingrad (1942, colourized)"
This is from The Hobbit, scene Battle of the Five Armies classic
What if Bombur was actually saying
"J.R. Tolkien you are a dick"
Wish I owned a pro sports team. At very key times during the game, The Horn of Eribor would be blown loud as hell
It should have been 'Roar of Erebor' instead of horn (no judging)
