I like your review of Dax Wave and Groom. I really like Dax wave and groom a lot. It does a fantastic job holding my thick curly Latin Moorish hair. I live I. Phoenix and my hair is curly and it gets hot here. I was at a BBQ with the family and it was 105 today and I was in the heat all day. My hair stayed nice and tight and looked great. I must admit though I don't like the lack of shine. I top coat it with Royal Crown Pomade. I get the shine from the RoyalCrown and the hold from the Dax Wave and Groom. I need heavy pomades and this is great. As far as washing it out it is not a problem. I degrease twice a week . I put on Groom and Clean rather thick and I slick it back pachucho style. I leave it in at least two hours. I take a hot shower and wash with a good quality shampoo. I put in conditioner for about three minutes. Done! Clean.

Did they really change the formula for Dax wave and groom ? I remember about 2 years ago when I first tried it it was really thick and hard to get on your hair with a lot of pulling but a lot of hold but I bought a new can recently and it's a lot softer greasier/shiny easier to put on and it has a lot less hold than before. not realy impressed with it.
Hey, Cameron! I'm ordering an oil based pomade sometime within the next week. What are some of your go-to/favorite medium to strong oil based pomades? I've only ever tried Sweet Georgia Brown for an oil based, so I don't have too much experience with them. For reference I have thicker hair

So my favorite over all is LockHart's Goon Greade without a doubt the best stuff out there! But also O'Douds heavy or medium are both very good! Pomps Not Dead OG is a beautiful medium and is a wonderful home brew. All the ones I have mentioned are some brews and I hope you found it helpful. You mentioned the old version of dax red and I'm so happy you did as I thought I was going crazy when saying that they've changed it because the new version in the red tin doesn't offer anywhere near the stuff hold as the previous version and is a lot more greasy. Can you tell me if you know of ANY pomades or waxes that are similar, if not, the same as the old style dax wax red tin please as that was he only stuff that would hold my hair how I style it Thanks

I used Dax once, I used a small scoop on my fingers, couldn't shape it at all. I decided I should probably wash it out since I didn't like the direction the situation was going. i shampooed it 6 times and it wouldn't come out. we used everything from shampoo to washing up liquid. The only thing that could get it out was olive oil. really don't recommend this stuff.

Dax and Murrays? Same damn shit dude! Bad hair day is just, a bad hair day..or maybe some not using it right. I have thick straight hair that’s frizz prone and morphs to a wave pomp thang, curls up on it’s own after some time w/ product in hair. You gotta use a tiny bit at a time on DRY (pre-styled) hair..applying with DRY hands and know when to quit adding, with good judgement. Just barely learning the concept after using shitloads of ‘whatever’ in my hair, between baldhead perms LOL. Hair always comes out ‘TITS’! Picture..Clark Gable with the top same but with razor fade undercut..just lovely😎
Dax is much better than Murray's, I used Murray's before and literally had to put a hairdryer over it for 5 mins before I could scoop any out, then, had to use half a bottle of washing up liquid to get they shit out of my hair
It was my first and I applied on dry hair and I not warmed before that shit pulled my hair but when spread has become very easy to comb and gives a nice shine and the hold is great
If you cover your hair in conditioner and comb it in real good, let it sit for at least 30 min, then shampoo and it'll degrease like 90%. Its easier to wash out if you apply it with a damp hair.
I bought this and NEVER AGAIN will I use this. 7 times shampooed my hair with different shampoo brands, even clarifying shampoo and conditioner, and this gunk was still in my hair! Who in their right mind would use this on a daily basis? I had a sour taste in my mouth trying an oil/petroleum based pomade. I will stick to a water based pomades. My favorite that never disappoints and is spot on is Prospectors water based pomade (yellow tin can).
Oilbased pomade's not designed to wash out easily, you dunce. Especially if you're using strong hold pomade with high amounts of wax. You put it in your hair and only re-apply small amounts if you feel that it doesn't hold up anymore after a few days/showers. Do you also complain that water is hot when you boil it??
just one question what store in particular do you consider this pomade to be carried in? l wanted to try this out for a long time and i wanna go and get it. Thanks broseph!

I remember the same thing! Guess it was more like a wax with the old formula and more like a pomade with the newer formula.

Just apply shampoo on dry hair and you'll wash it away easily.
